The West Coast Main Line is probably one of the most requested routes to include in TSW, the problem is choosing a section of track that isn't too long or includes too much rolling stock, I think what I'm about to suggest is a reasonable section to include and would work with several layers we have in the game. Route: London Euston to Rugby Rolling Stock: Class 350 and Class 66 Primary Operator: London North-western Railway Length: 82 Miles Average Journey Time: 1 Hour 40 Minutes (1 hour for Avanti services) Total Stations: 9 The idea I have is to include the Class 350 as the new train, with your typical Class 66 freight services but you can also add a layer for the 1972 London Underground trains that run parallel to the main line near London as well as the brand new Class 710 for London Overground services. Even the Southern Class 377's run at the southern end of the route. But what about Avanti? While the Class 390s are a staple of the route, DTG doesn't really tend to make more than one new train per route these days and the Class 350 is arguably more important. However, just like the Acela on Boston Sprinter, it's possible the Class 390 could be offered as a loco DLC for the route which would unlock the high-speed services and allow players to drive on the Avanti-owned section of tracks. All in all, I think this would be a good section of track to include for the WCML and wouldn't require too much new stock. I believe this route would sell very well if made properly since it includes a terminus, multiple layers, and new operators.
100% a great route. Anything which brings the WCML into the game and enables layering at Birmingham New Street on the BCC route is very welcomed!
Given the 390 won't be included as standard, I presume the route would be set up in a way which makes them "feel" there.
Switch the offer to 390 and 350 and it gets my stronger support. Would be quite a bit of a downer to miss out the 390 at launch. (I would have had a guess/bet and say this route comes September though with ECML being last year I’m not so sure.)
If it were up to me both would be included on day one but I suspect DTG won't want to make two very different trains for a route. I went with the 350s as they have a lot more services throughout the day and there are more of them in circulation compared to Pendolinos which would the route feel a bit busier. Of course, I recognize the Pendos are iconic and I would love to see them in the game at some point.
I think some routes they would probably consider essential to make them a 2 loco route, this probably being one. Probably also why it would likely come around September time (no idea which year though) as it would be a big stand out route.
I would suggest doing Chase Line as a feeder route to introduce the 350 first, then this route with the 390 as a flagship project so we don't have an obvious hole in the timetable. But yes, WCML-S would be a fantastic route for TSW, in very high demand and (assuming the timetable was completed to a high standard) would really show off the service mode.
I personally prefer the Class 350s but I love both train models. A great suggestion and I will support this forums page. It would make it a lot easier to create the London Overground route to Watford which would complete Euston
In that case, we could: Have the Chase Line to introduce the 350s. Then do this route with the 390 as the new loco. The Overground stock could then come as a DLC.
Brilliant idea! I am only guessing but this would be a great route and I predict it could feature in TSW4
I have no evidence to back this up but I know that these syle of routes work on TSW games really nicely. Great suggestion jack#9468 and Mikey_9835
Nah, it's better off a base route I think, like with the ECML. Although I'd be happy for it to come with TSW4
Would prefer it set in 90s/ early 2000s with 86s/87s/90s bit of different traction to just modern emu units and different to 66 on freight lol
Hi all if we could have Euston to preston or Edinburgh where it goes and price it £45 or more I would pay for it and it would be a very good route there would be a lot people and fans that will play it or maybe something like this to be considered in TSW 5 for next year thisnwould take some time to make and would need alot of people to do it but it could come out for autumn or winter this year depending but this would a very popular route for the UK Line ?
its like ECML London - Newcastle, so could probably get their in about 3-4 routes, (3 if Peterborough had gone to York I would have said) so about £90-£120
Class 86 and Class 87 era for this route please, along with some Mark 2 aircon coaches and Class 310 EMU’s on the outer suburban services.
This is a great idea but if we want change i.e multiple trains per route then we need to start asking for the change.
I like the idea of this route but I think having it without the 390 at launch is a bad idea. I don’t think you can really have a modern wcml route without it. In the case of Boston sprinter, that was ok becuse we had the ACS 64 which is also a high speed train. I don’t think it would go down well with the community if they went down this route.
I think this would be best placed as part of a 'rush hour' style pack, making it cost extra for the two locos. Obviously i would want to keep the route prices to a minumum while still maintaining quality but realistically dovetail have shown their colours for TSW 4. The other *likely* way would be as a base route for tsw 5, especially given its status and the fact that dovetail like to give us a big fast mainline for a big release (gwe for tsw 1, ska for tsw 2, bml for rush hour, sehs for tsw 3 and ecml for tsw4)
