I would like to see Northern Trains Preston to York route (modern day). 67 miles of track. Can have Class 170 and Class 195 amongst others. Travelling through east Lancashire past the Pennines into Yorkshire.
I didn't think there was any direct trains between Preston and York. Also, your suggestion is unlikely to get looked at nevermind made unless you make it with more detail in future.
Direct train from York to Preston leaving in 40 minutes https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:W29494/2024-01-29/detailed Would make a good route but needs more detail.
Direct That service is York - Blackpool North. It does not finish at Preston, therefor it is not direct.
It's as direct as trains between Peterborough and Doncaster, or between Dartford and Gravesend. Not everyone is able to provide detailed suggestions and even this simple suggestion can be helpful as it shows that the community wants more modern Northern Rail routes and content.
Seems pretty long, and if the penultimate stop of the services that run is Blackpool North, it seems a bit silly to miss it out, and Blackpool to York is pretty long. I would say Blackpool to Manchester and Manchester to York Seem a bit more likely but I don’t know for sure.
Another option (which would make it shorter) is Preston to Bradford (where the train reverses). Or as you say Blackpool to Bradford (maybe Leeds?) Either way any route which includes northern DMUs which can then layer onto ECML and Glossop will always be welcomed.
What you want is the Calder Valley Line and ECML Leeds to Newcastle Upon Tyne via York. Take a look at my Calder Valley Line suggestion page on how to do this correctly
