It wouldn't take much to test TSW4 through the Apple Game porting toolkit: https://developer.apple.com/games/ It would be nice to be able to run TSW and TS on macOS from my perspective, and I can't imagine I'm alone in making Train Simulation videos that are recorded on an old PC, then edited on a Mac. Unreal is already Multiplatform, and there is even the option of supporting Steam Play (Proton), which might be a feasible way to bring Multiplatform support with little development.
It's not about wether how long it would take, there is literally no point making a mac specific build, that will still take time and money, and it's probably not cost effect to do one. Face facts, a Mac port never is or ever will come, TSW is a windows application
TSC actually runs fine on macOS using Crossover. On a 8-graphics core M1 MacBook Air with 16 GB RAM you get around 30 fps with everything max'd out except for shadows (well, except on infamous sections like Frankfurt Hbf of course). Anything with an M1/2/3 Pro or higher will get your 40 - 80 fps. TSW doesn't run on Crossover. In fact no Unreal Engine 4 games do, due to an incompatibility that Crossover has with geometry shader support (well technically Metal lacks it, but since Crossover uses Metal to convert the graphics commands to, this doesn't work on Crossover either). You can run any version of TSW using Parallels and a copy of Windows 11 for ARM though. It runs, but performance isn't optimal. EDIT: apparently someone has patched Crossover v22 to run EU4 games on Apple Sillicon: I won't be able to test this myself for the time being (I use Crossover on a production machine and can't afford to experiment at the moment). But if someone happens to have Crossover 22 and TSW and is willing to test, please let us know.
I guess you ment the other way round. If the don't make a macOS version then a linux version definitely won't happen.
It would be great if they made TSC on Xbox/ PlayStation consoles as I love the routes on that game. It seems like it would be a fun route.
TSC doesn't have timetable mode from what I've heard. Therefore, while I agree some TSC routes sound good, it'd be better if DTG recreated them (preferably longer/full length routes) in TSW. That way you get a decent length route with good stock running on a more modern interface and utilising less expensive hardware.
Where are you getting your information? Apple shipped nearly 22 million Macs in 2023 (over 26 million in 2022), hovering at or over 10% of the market, so they're hardly some weird little niche product, regardless of what you may believe. I'd also suggest that the machines running MacOS are probably more likely to be the machines people would have in their homes and use on the side for games, than a dedicated server linux box. I currently have three actively used Macs in my house and would certainly stick TSW on at least one of them if there was an option which didn't require dicking about with emulators or Windows.
Point still stands, there won't ever be a mac os version of this game, ask all you want, it's never going to happen.
