I guess that it's not possible but my question is about identifying trains in map view. I like to create scenerys and doing so i sometimes get stuck because 2 trains are blocking each other standing oposite on the same track. It would be helpfull if you could click a train and get the service name of that train so you know exact wich service to disable. Is there such an option?
This is a feature that has long been asked for but never came. The TSW map gives ZERO information. In TSC you can press F6 to have service tags onscreen, and the 9 map shows platform names, service names and the state of each switch.
It would be great to have the service name + origin & destination in the map view! But there would likely be lots of issues with overlapping text at busy stations/sidings.
DTG really need to think about when they can allocate time to re-making the map from scratch. We all know it needs vast improvements to bring it up the TSC standards. How long are they gonna put this off?
I remember Matt answered this question. Supposedly, it comes down to the fact that it is as core as core gets. They've tried updating it, but I think he said that they just couldn't get it to work without a massive domino effect of major issues.
That’s unfortunate. But I suppose they could still make a new map but bind it to another key? Although that might not work with consoles users without a keyboard
Even just giving it a number would help you diagnose which service is causing the issue so you can either rectify or delete it.
Pretty sure if you click on a train you can straight up delete it in map view? The in game map, not the pause menu one
Don't forget the brilliant minimap in Rail Simulator and older versions of Train Simulator. I'm really annoyed they got rid of the side panel, it was useful and took up less space than the current HUD. Also note the pink rectangles - while they can still be placed today, area markers are useless now in TS as they don't appear on the map like they used to: (Screenshots taken in Rail Simulator)
DTG for TSW doesn’t seem to allocate any time for free upgrades of this kinda style of feature on the company (not including individual personal upgrades such as JoeTheFish and others) at the rate they are going in. The only time for that is limited to the next iteration, which seeming down to the point everything like it is left till then, there becomes not enough time to get anything done what presents much of an obstacle.
Well. I plug a PC keyboard into my XBOX Series S for a lot of games... Just got a nice new mechanical one to test out on TSW. So DTG can forget using that excuse.
