Considering "a few" is generally considered to be 2-3, and we're now entering our 5th month out of launch, it's suspect. It isn't a scam, but it is a dishonest, and a pretty dirty practice.

See, people always take it too far lol.

If you like the overall concept of TSW then TSW4 isn't "worthless" at all. It's missing features and has a ton of bugs for sure, but it did actually add new features like Free Roam, which is pretty significant. Photo mode is also very welcome imo.

Formation manager and suspension overhaul are also big, whenever the finally make it into the game. They shouldn't have been advertised as TSW4 features as part of the launch as they clearly weren't ready.

I want to see TSW continue to improve and evolve- despite it's many flaws it's still my go-to train sim. I don't want to go back to TSC, and the other titles out there are incomplete or flawed in their own ways.

I just want TSW to be as good as its potential.

Wish the Dovetail forums had a "super like" feature but oh well... 100% agree with this. TSW has its flaws but it sure has evolved since the early days and is really enjoyable. Going back to MSTS or similar sims is getting harder and harder. Only exception would be Zusi but that is another story :) Cheers

I've been a loyal customer since TSW first released, and have all of the DLC (except for the Christmas thing). I'm not enjoying the annual new game purchase, not just because it's always a lottery if the announced features show up within x months, but I'm getting fed up with the introduction of new issues to older DLC, the huge uninstall/reinstall, the effort to regain achievements, etc etc.

It's not a seamless process, and I don't want to go through it all again this year. I may change my mind nearer the time, but as somebody who has always tried to be positive, I'm feeling worn down by it all now.

Yeah, it's not a scam, and I do like TSW4 overall. But they should not have advertised Formation designer and Suspension as part of it. It just feels "Rushed" to be honest.

I just want them to bugfix existing issues, and take their time on future releases so stuff can be more polished. I love what is there, I just want higher quality standards enforced before its released.

When TSW4 was first announced, Formation designer and the new Suspension system were included, soon after (might have been days) it was revealed they would be delayed and added as part of the Winter Core update. Since Christmas most of the admin team have been AWOL with only JD sticking his head above the parapet. Some people are feeling like they got conned out of their money. I'm starting to feel like I was as well. I'm going to be voting with my wallet and not purchasing anymore DTG items until Formation designer and the Suspension system are up and running.

More than 4 months after launch and the game still does not feature the new suspension system. And you can bet on it not being featured for at least another half a year, because routes currently in development won't have a feature that currently does not exist yet. So as said above, at best case scenario we may start seeing the new suspension system in routes at summer.

And the Formation Designer also took 4 months to arrive, but even then only in a limited-beta form for Steam players only. Who knows how long it will take to get it properly imlemented for everyone and integrate it with Creators Club?

It will take a full year to develop everything that they advertised the game with. No matter what you call it, scam or not, this is ridiculous.

Things is, we have had quite a while "it takes a bit longer, but it is coming, we promise" situation through the years. Quite often the end result was that the thing in question just never materialized.

Like as said above by someone, I really wouldn't be surprised if we still wouldn't have suspension physics properly implemented by the time DTG gets to TSW5. Though I do hope it won't be the case, but honestly wouldn't be surprised by this point.

They could also just pull the "we tried, it didn't work" card and drop the whole concept at all, like they did with steam physics improvements.

I think that, while not ideal, would be better than just releasing it in a broken, never to be fixed state.

This would be a lot more acceptable if this game hadn’t turned into a yearly release. We’re almost halfway through the lifecycle of tsw4.

Sports titles come out yearly, which I am not fond of either, but iirc when they market a new feature (which is rare tbf) it’s part of the initial release. There’s always subsequent patches as no game is perfect but nothing comparable to this.

What is happening with these features is I think something you’d normally see in a game with a much longer life cycle

Oh dear, It wasn't me intention to turn this thread in to yet another DTG bashing session. It's a shame the suspension improvements aren't in the coming week but as others have previously said it is still in the 1-3 months part of the road map so hopefully it is coming soon.
The other question I asked was whether a Blackpool update was coming soon if anybody had any information on that?

As regard to engine updates and a potential TSW5 on the horizon later this year. Unreal Engine 4 is pretty much no longer being improved and updated by Epic and all of their attention is on Unreal Engine 5.
I also play Everspace 2 and the developers of that game are doing a free update for that game from Unreal Engine 4 to 5 and are currently in the process of completing that work. Maybe we will have a similar transition with TSW at some point?

Moving to ue5 would require everything to be rebuilt. With over 80 pieces of content, you are looking at years of work since each have to be updated manually and that collection is only growing and dtg can't afford to stop all dlc for a few years to upgrade to ue5. Ue5 doesn't make a game better. It is how the devs make use of it. Another issue is the actual port itself. When dtg moved within ue4 versions, each change brought a lot of bugs to legacy content. Would imagine 5 to be much worse and break a lot of things. At that point, it's better to start fresh which many players would not be happy with. Also the editor. If dtg moved to ue5, the created content wouldn't work either.

It works with everspace because it doesn't have over 80 dlc acting independently to each other.

Is anybody genuinely surprised by this piece of news that it's delayed indefinitely? People who have followed their products could have seen this coming a mile away. The suspension updates will likely come in TSW5, with a promise that it will be backported into TSW4, and enough time will have elapsed where TSW4 will have gotten nothing, and they will quietly expect people will have moved onto the new platform. Anyways, make sure to open up your wallets for the upcoming US route and Gospel Oak to Barking. I'm sure they will be bug free masterpieces!
