i am hoping DTG devotes plenty of time in Feb road map stream next sunday .. They owe it after not much of anything in DEC one ..US players need to ask some tough questions during the Q& A stream following a few days later if not...

i will watch the stream next sunday first to see what they have to say etc..in general on other threads ppl are critical or say what they like or dont like its time to hold the feet to the fire and everyone that feels Us freight content needs to be done better it opportunity for anyone to step up and ask some questions stat their thoughts in the Q&A

Yes, I definitely like trains.
However, with too low a graphics threshold, (in my opinion) the fun ends.
We are in 2024...

 

I thought the roadmap was getting replaced this month ???.

 

It's being replaced by a pre-recorded announcements stream on Sunday, which if anything is more likely to announce new routes than a standard roadmap.

 

Fry it in a pan and make omelets with it.

Of course you drive on it with the increased traffic layers given by the update.

 

I´m also hoping for some very general statements about the franchise and where it is heading...

 

I'm hoping an admin other than JD pops up with some news instead of throwing him under the bus with delivering bad news.

 

What even is 2024 graphics. It's not all about the graphics. If you only buy games for the graphics, idk what to tell you as it doesn't correlate to a better game. Even the new graphics has its own issues

For me it is.
On my PC the TSW is set completely to "Ultra settings".
Absolutely no compromise.

 

Better graphics can definitely correlate to a better game, especially when it's trying to imitate life like a Simulator game and isn't an artistic choice.

 

Graphics mean nothing if major bugs exist or there is poor physics and more. The bus looks great but it doesn't perform or play great.

 

No, but then you have TSW which doesn't look great by todays standards, and has poor physics (Steam, US freight) and riddled with bugs that aren't fixed. So it's not an either or here, we are getting neither.

I assume then you do not play or use any DLCs that are not of TSW3/4 graphical standard, therefore rendering your collection until then useless?
If so, then buying games/add-ons must be a very rare thing for you, in an ever evolving industry like this where graphics improve all the time...

As I wrote previously, I no longer use the older paths, but they are useful for layers.

After all, the strategy used by DTG until recently required having a specific route if you wanted to use a loco DLC (example DB BR 101).
The English are not stupid...

Honestly, that is all DTG would need to say and i would be a bit happier with them.... but no, that would be too much to ask, wouldn't it?

 

Absolutely agree. Preservation crew is much missed IMO.

Not totally apples to apples, but look at what SCS are (slowly) doing with the outdated base maps on their truck sims- for free btw.

It earns them a lot of goodwill from the community.

 

Don't forget that every new truck is free as well.

 

And they’re finally getting round to doing Scandinavia which will replace much of what we currently use ProMods for. Day One purchase here, when it eventually drops.

 

Why did they abandon the preservation team. With them around at least content for TSW was looked over with a fine tooth comb more often.
They even gave older routes a little make over from time to time. This is caring and DTG not just thinking about profits 24/7. Now it’s just money, money, money with DTG and zero care.

 

Probably to unify the teams more instead of a team doing their own thing. An issue was that all the work fell on the preservation team so they had a huge backlog of content. If there were any missing features or updates, it went to them.

 

Because as soon as they fixed one problem, several more popped up. It became increasingly unrealistic to chase them all and was not worth the time and money.

 

Depends if your definition of good news is more over priced content that still contains the same bugs as ones from years ago, or if you're lucky, completely new bugs.

I know, I am really excited for the ICE 1 in there. finally no longer only ICE 3s!

 

some open communication would be welcome rather than a bit of a pit of speculation and worry, which I do say I fall into at times myself even.

though with it being part of festival of rail, the chance the topic will cover that kind of thing seems even lower.

 

When is the Feb roadmap

 

In February, (just kidding )

looks like the 8th or 9th February, as it’s been put with the Festival of Rail

 

I think the Feb roadmap is being replaced by the Dovetail direct on the 11th

 

TSW 5 announcement I coming

 

TSW5 reveal will be in August if last year is an indication.

 

So was every other major announcement

 

I think they do it in August to avoid the Steam Summer Sale, like most other companies.

It's hard to build hype in July, when everybody is buried in a sea of 90% game discounts for 2 weeks.

 

Way too early even for DTG. They wouldn’t announce that in February.

 

Never to early for a new sim

 

I’m no businessman but announcing the next TSW after only 5 - 6 months after the last is like a terrible idea. Especially after the poor reception 4 got, you’d basically be shooting yourself in the foot.

 

Why would they suddenly start announcing a new game 6 months after the first one, it doesn't make sense.

 

Well neither did announcing a new game not even 1 year after the previous one, lol.

Though I don't think they will announce it this early. If TSW5 does come this year, they will announce it at summer the earliest.

 

For the sake of your blood pressure, don't worry about TSW5 yet. If they announce it on Sunday, then feel free to go apoplectic if that really is your biggest worry in life (lucky you!) but, until then, all you're doing is winding each other up into a tornado of speculation and conjecture. Why do it to yourselves?!
