A DMU shortage in the early 1990s led to Regional Railways having two 142s sent back to Cornwall. On the way to Penzance they had to pick up a failed 158 at St Austell. The Consist is seen crossing Hayle Viaduct.
ok, so I might need some help - I created, through some clever spawning and shunting, a little abomination close to what graces Vienna - St.Polten regional services from Westbahnhof mostly - Taurus + dosto + 1-3 single deck coaches + 1 dosto control car... so here is the thing - when controlled from Taurus, it all works nicely... but when I want to change ends... I can get the pantograph to raise and all, but it aint showing in the dosto control cab, and I cant get any power and real control there... despite doing everything I am supposed to when shutting down cab in Taurus am I doing something wrong or is it just the game not really knowing what to do with such consist?
so, another of my "findings" - the dosto control car doesnt work also if you do it like this - Taurus, with some spawning and all you get a couple dostos, delete their control car after uncoupling (using camera 2), and then you spawn a livery-edited dosto control car... once you couple all this together... well, from the loco end it does work (Taurus), but as for the control car, nope... seems that the game doesnt really know how to handle this kind of stuff - consists made of coaches/control cars that shouldnt normally be uncoupled... if I am doing something wrong, again, tell me what, plllls I know it is a bit of BS, but I revel in such experiments ... I guess if the game doesnt know what to do, then I will have to wait till consist editor, I guess?
it did the same thing tho if I uncoupled the control cab from a spawned set and replaced it with a new one with livery
here I spawned BR182 with 5 dostos, uncoupled the control car, and coupled in a dosto with a livery... theoretically, this should work fine, but I am still getting no real power in the control cab - pretty much the same issue/bug as with the IC coaches, dunno why... either I am doing sth wrong or the formation designer will solve these issues... cos as you see, even from the vid above, some unorthodox consists exist IRL and they work just fine - even in that weird consist, I can raise pantograph, close doors... so it clearly feeds some of my commands through, so... dunno why it doesnt work even with substitute dosto, which should be completely fine I even tried fiddling with some of those interactive things on the underside of coaches... didnt work either edit: I managed to make the substitute dosto work somehow
sorry for yep, it says so - I can get panto to raise, lower and raise again, and I even hear noise when I close the circuit breaker, but it doesnt show on screen (btw I managed to overcome the issue with the substitute dosto, so now I am trying this combined consist of dosto+IC+dosto control car) the thing is, how is it possible I can remotely control the panto on the loco, close the circuit breaker (even though it doesnt show on screen), I can open and close doors as well... but it wont feed power and show it on screen, so in the end I cant move the train from the control car I know this isnt a problem present in usual gameplay, but thats what free roam is kinda for - trying to push boundaries with new consists (until Formation designer arrives and hopefully solves most of this) and solve problems that require knowledge of game/loco systems... so in this case there are pretty much only two options - either I am doing something wrong, or the game just doesnt support this type of consist... yet and I gotta stress this - thanks for any bit of advice here, even if the end result shows it isnt possible yet
I guess for now it is an unplayable consist, will see how things work when Formation designer is out (like, if it allows just about anything or it will show/tell you that certain coaches are incompatible within a setup) thx anyway for whatever bits and pieces given here
Thinking on a another "Free Roam" - which is not completely "free", as for example, you can not use UK electric trains on german routes and vice-versa - , so I decided to use a red Bombardier 442 Talent, on Munich Augsburg route. Driving all the route not using the high speed one, but the 2 tracks on the regular one, where you have lot of stations. Here some pictures. I believe the bright reflection on the solar panels, is new. As they did not have that visuals before. So nice DTG added it, bringing more reality. After that area near Augsburg, things get more interesting later, when joining the BR 423s and ICE ...
I tried something in free roam on cajon pass took 3 F125 s 2 painted in santa fe warbonnet scheme 1 in UP scheme that i got off creators club ran a 35 car loaded double stack train up cajon from san bernadino worked pretty well just set to freight when setting engine ...free roam is where TSW4 shines for me best feature in it
Great!. I never tried that. So in order the 3 engines works together, you have to set up something, or the game directly makes them to push all together?
How i did it was spawned the 35 loaded stacks with bnsf es44c4 s i uncoupled the bnsf es44s de spawned them.then i spawned 3 F125s 2 cab facing forward the 3rd cab facing towards the stack cars i coupled the lead engine to the other 2 then coupled to the stack train ..set my path then away i went...as for setting up engines i just made sure to set the brakes setting to Freight then and banking com and that was all basically it same procedure just make sure set to freight push banking com
With "Free Roam", you can dream a lot. Despite there are some limitations for electric trains. But it is a great tool!
In this case, my particular dream was having a model for Flying Scotsman's second tender. You can spawn another tender now thanks to Formation Designer, but you can't couple it.
got new livery, so will use it a lot in Free Roam now https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/razmatus1987-liveries.76413/
This inspired me to see if i could do a run INTO that yard. Spawned in a little MOW train at Hoo Jct, and got most of the way there without an issue. It should be possible to reverse into the yard but i couldn't get this signal to clear:
Using the formation editor, I simulated a late morning run of UP's former RVUVU train from Sun Valley to Palmdale, not too bad of a run, had to schedule one meet with a Southbound Metrolink train, though I had some issues with the dispatcher trying to give me priority over a northbound Metrolink train I was following shortly after 10am. It also ended up snowing (Which is extremely rare for the area)
My first thought is always to go to the bits we don't see when normally playing a route on timetable mode. For instance, I decided to plonk a class 45 on the Steam Railway platform at Smallbrook Junction on the Isle of Wight route to see if the entire steam line is modelled. Spoiler alert, it isn't, The line goes so far before just abruptly ending. So, yeah. My thought it always to see what I can see that I shouldn't, or if I can break it in any way.
like when I tried coupling as many ICE3s as I could in Wurzburg... at 2x 16 ICE3 formation was the maximum I could get to (before Formation Designer came into play), before it automatically derailed anything more ... but even then it was so much fun... that train was over 800m long, like 1000 or 1500 tons heavy, dont remember exactly... and still accelerated like hell ... and thanks to length/tonnage it allowed me a lot of 280 km/h segments
I took a steam railtour with eight coaches down to Glasgow Queen Street. I soon realised upon leaving however that I made a huge (specifically 2.2% huge) mistake. Luckily a friendly Class 47 arrived to pull the train up the incline.
Take it back to the year 2000 when the class 37s was working on the construction project of the TGV. Can you make a construction train and make the grades on TGV? Try it and see how you do.
when the GOBLIN line releases, I'm top and tailing a steam engine & either a Class 20 or 33 to Barking Riverside.
The images look excellent. It would be nice to see that in the future of free roam several trains will be added and they will be taken where they are indicated.
Train: Railpool BR193 Vectron + Container cars +ICE 1 and ICE3 Route: Schnellfahrstrecke Kassel-Würzburg
We're a long way from Cornwall! For fun, I decided to send LMS Jubilee 5593 Kolhapur to the blistering deserts of the Cajon Pass to go on a special railtour through the wilderness. Aside from a few moments where I had to slow down to let some BNSF freight trains widen the gap, this trip was a resounding success.
Hello, I love driving the 101 and 193 with passengers. What is the best thing I have to do for my own scenarios with other ai trains and passengers stops along the railroad? Put a 101 or a 193 in free roam then use the scenario planner ? For example on the line Rheinstrecke. Thanks
Normally, to create it somewhat realitic, 101/193, I guess, in free roam would give a kind of strange feeling, as the other rolling stock on LFR is somewhat 25 or more years older. I guess, it could give you a kind of irritation, driving a Vectron with all other trains around you are driven by BR 103, BR 110, Bnrdzf. So using scenario planner seems to be a more realistic option. As 101/193 are used for long distance trains, they would only stop at Koblenz, (maybe Bingen Hbf) and Mainz Hbf and start first let's say XX:00 at Koblenz Platform 2. At platform let's say 4, there is already an RE waiting (maybe 146 with Dostos), starting at XX:05, calling at Boppard Hbf, Oberwesel; Bingen Hbf, Bingen Stadt, Ingelheim and Mainz Hbf. At platform 5, there is an RB (let's say a 425 or a Talent 2) waiting to depart at XX:10, calling at all stations. Another all stopping train would still be on it's way, maybe starting at Bingen Hbf at XX:00 still calling at all stations until Mainz, and a freight train probably starts in Boppard Hbf at XX:00. In the other direction somehow the same line-up, an all stopping train, starting at maybe Oberwesel at XX:00, a freight train, not sure where are freight yards, I guess somewhere around Bingen at XX:00, an IC starting in Mainz at XX:00, an RE starting in Mainz at xx:05, and an RB starting in Mainz at xx:10. At least, I would say, that's some kind of realistic all in all possible scenario...
Some DB 111 Free Roam services: > Linke Rheinstrecke: Mainz - Koblenz route: - includes nice "Rheingold" paint scheme, available on Creators Club. > Hamburg Lubeck
Maybe a dumb question, but I have no idea how to delete an AI train that's in the way. I can't seem to select it in-camera or in the map.
I’ve only deleted trains I’ve put there myself, but to do that you just walk up to and face the train you want to delete, press tab, and select the option presented on screen. It may be the same for an AI train?
Submit a bug report on that one, afaik there shouldn't be any reason whatsoever that prevents you from deleting any train on the map, be it placed by you, idle decoration, or AI timetable service. Especially when doing it from the map view. I for one have never encountered such a situation. Also on another note, Free Roam functions do not exist in scenarios or in journey mode. To use them you have to load into timetable mode directly.
If you like adverse signalling then is this the one for you! The journey time of 1.5 hours gives you a clue. Inspired by Dad Rail on You Tube, I sort of replicated the southern leg of the old Manchester (?) – Brighton runs behind 47s, but threw in a few curve balls en-route. London Commuter, spawn into Clapham Junction at 10:00 hrs (timetable mode) and head over to platform 17. Spawn a 47 + 7 x Mk2 coaches (loaded). Set destination East Croydon P5 via Balham P3. Depart 10:04 Arrive 10:18 At 10:20 set destination Gatwick Airport P3 via the spur which splits off to the right and curves over to the left of the other tracks (sorry I don’t have a name for that leg). Dep. 10:24 Arr. 10:43 Set destination Haywards Heath P1. Dep. 10:44 Arr. 11:10 Set destination Brighton P7. Dep. 11:12 Arr. 11:35 I then zapped the Brush off the back, whacked a pair of choppers on the front and had a thrash back up the line to London, but that’s another story ;-)
