JTs are offering this route at £24.74 and Steam have discounted it to £22.76. With Just Trains you also get 120 points added to your future rewards, but I wondered if the price was the only difference. Is the route exactly the same whichever retailer you buy from? Strange that Steam didn’t match the price on offer at Just Trains.
I have the Steam version and I'm sure it's the same. This is one of the most immaculate DLC for TSC, along with Frankfurt U-Bahn. Highly detailed, full of ambient sounds, under- and overground tracks, automatic passenger announcements, well crafted rolling stock - and performs well. Used TSC to its full potential. The developer is UrbanTrainSim, JT is only the publisher. How the publishers and retailers make their prices is up to them, they won't explain that. Just get it
This is strictly a rapid transit sim; all you do is take your passengers from points A to Z. Over and over and .... But what a route! I have dozens and dozens of routes, many of which cater to more of my interests (which go beyond rapid transit), but this one is the very best. You won't be disappointed.
Of course, there's no freight involved on the U Bahn . But it's a really nice network with different lines to operate.
Kim, I am sitting on the fence too. Will see what spends I have left before Jan 4th. There are quite a few steam sales in the next 6 months, so will see. Thanks to everyone for the positive input.
I got the Ringbahn Berlin S-Bahn route recently and that is fun to operate. Apart from the S-Bahn lines there are mainline tracks most of the way round and scenarios for both types.
Phew.... now that looks good... but it's not on sale right now is it? I've just downloaded Thueringer Wald v1.1 from rail-sim.de... when the wall came down...
Watching a couple of YT reviews of the route, it does seem a bit jerky and juddery even in the tunnel sections. Is that an actual issue or just a quirk of the particular reviewer hardware?
Those pictures look very good with a feel of the old East Germany. I used to have Projekt Freiberg Sachs on my computer but it was not reinstalled on my new drive. https://rail-sim.de/forum/filebase/entry/1836-projekt-freiberg-sachs-v2-01/
As a postscript just bought the U1 route in the Festival sale (probably the only item I’m getting). Thus far very impressed, looks great and the performance issues I had a concern about watching YT clips not manifested (yet) on my potato PC. My only slight gripe is that here again we have a busy urban rapid transit route that suffers the Achilles Heel of TSC, just a handful of representative scenarios. In the absence of TSC having the TSW all day timetable, this sort of route should be shipping with 20 or 30 scenarios to capture a wide range of the possible timetable runs, in all seasons and all weather conditions. But overall very well done and I will be dividing the coming evenings between this, Virtual District Line and a bit of Run 8.
U-Bahn now 40% off at £19.79. Not a bad price for a route only released a few months ago and another brilliant design by Just Trains.
The U Bahn Hamburg and Frankfurt are both made by Urban Train Sim... a very nice fellow from russia. He is also activ over on Railsim under the name "alTerr" and shows progress of his work quite frequently. He is currently adding the U3 to his map as a second version. It seems like he will build the entire network eventually, just like he did with Frankfurt. PS: anything German on JT is not made by them. They don´t do german stuff, just publishing.
You get the same with DTG, people praising them for continuing to make and release content when most of the time nowadays they are just publishing it. Don't get me wrong I appreciate DTG (namely Steve and his team) slogging away at the core and improving it as they are doing but I hate people giving the wrong credit, it seems borderline disrespectful even if it is borne out of ignorance and not malice.
Last inhouse release was Pegnitzalbahn a year ago... every release on steam since has been third party. I have a bad feeling inhouse routebuilding for TSC will never come back to be honest. I hope we get some clarity in dovetail direct stream, where they are also scheduled to talk about TSC.
Ok but I bought it from Just Trains and Steam confirm it was developed by Just Trains https://store.steampowered.com/app/...edt_Mitte__Ohlstedt__Grohansdorf_Route_AddOn/
https://rail-sim.de/forum/thread/35978-u-bahn-hamburg/?pageNo=1 Here is over 80 pages of thread with the user "alTerr" documenting his U-Bahn Hamburg route. He is very active on Railsim and has always said that he himself is the devolper and JT is where he publishes his work. They later test it and hand it over to Steam/Valve for him. I´m not in the mood for arguing over this though to be very frank. Keep believing JT´s people built it, if that makes you happy.
Just when I start trying to really dislike a developer they go and do something like this.. https://www.justtrains.net/articles/new-loco-and-scenarios-added-to-ubahn-hamburg-u1
Edit: Sorry that should have said Publisher not Developer, but the fact they're not charging for it is probably (at least partly) due to the Publisher
alTerr (UTS) announced last year, that he was building the DT4 and would release it as a free update. Here it is!
No, it takes a little while longer for content to get through to Steam, it is coming though according to one of the Developers over on the Railsim forum
Any clue how you restart the train after reloading a save game? I came off during a station stop and after loading up the game, wait for the station duties to finish and doors to close but can’t get power. Brakes release okay but no response to throttle. I’ve tried keying out and keying back in but still the same problem. Please don’t tell me this is one of those heavily scripted trains which doesn’t support resuming a save…
With all the features I would think it is a heavily scripted train. Might be worth asking Just Trains if resuming from a saved scenario is possible.
As the Hamburg U1 is on sale for £24.74 on Just Trains and only £16.82 on Steam I might get that version. Is there any sign of the DT4 becoming Drivable - no mention on Steam. And a Signalling Question for those who own the route From the Manual Red is Stop but Yellow is also Stop? Is that correct? Thanks
Took me a min to work out how to drive the DT4 - remember to take parking brake off I had hoped the AL2 Battery locos might have been driveable from the cab but not so - Hud only. There are a number of sidings that the trains are parked in but no actual depot that I could see?
