What a drama here..... If you have missed some information... It was christmas and there are Holidays so i dont know how you missed that....
No, not drama, they make a valid point. This is how DTG has been operating as of late: hype up the next DLC as the next best thing that's had hours of work put into it, put little actual real world testing (less so on consoles), release the product, then forget it and on to the next thing. Look how long Xbox users couldn't even play TSW4 with their DLC installed, look at routes like Maintalbahn, NY - Trenton that are still buggy... I'm at the point where I've almost memorized the auto response from DTG Support when submitting a ticket ("The issue reported has now been logged for further investigation and this ticket will be marked as resolved. Please bear in mind that support staff are not developers or QA testers..." Might be time to hire some!) DTG is a lot like Boeing at the moment, producing quantity at the sacrifice of quality. The only difference is my living room door doesn't blow out every time I hit a bug in TSW! They need to slow down their production pace and hire more/better testers, and prioritize patches before focusing on the next DLC. I'd be okay with only two or three bigger releases a year with third party devs making filler content, so long as what I'm getting has minimal bugs and good post-launch support.
For the record.... Everyone was crying for a higher amount of trains on Trenton route and they give that after it was working but they offered a free update! Not perfect but they have fixed a lot and they where very polite and respond very directly so your'e point is here not valid. No its not perfect but this kind of repairs takes time and what about the maintalbahn.... They released it nearly begin december 11/28/23 so my point stay valid that the Christmas holidays are a big influence on the Update cyclus for this route.
I'm not even talking about the amount of trains, I'm talking about alerters screaming away on passing AI trains, poor signalling that leads to penalty brake applications, Acela sets facing the wrong direction, etc. etc. etc.. Even the services they added they didn't even test properly "Sorry, they put too much pressure on lower end machines, and we couldn't do the freight services we said we were doing." And free update? You mean the rest of the services that should have been there from the beginning? The fact of the matter is DTG fumbled a route that is beloved by not only people here in the US, but across the globe, and they got called out on it, and added the rest of the services to save face. Boston's another example; it took DTG, what, close to a year to fix the signalling? The Oakville Sub until recently had an incompletable scenario. I can go on... Yes, I agree with you that creating patches takes time, and yes, they have been polite... BUT... if that time had been instead invested into creating a better product, testing more thoroughly, and finding and correcting bugs both before and immediately after launch, we wouldn't be having this discussion. How many times do we have to hear "Sorry, we're working on it, but we're tied up with other projects" over, and over, and over...? It's fine to make mistakes, we're human, but at times more often than not it feels like DTG is blatantly ignoring those mistakes and not learning from them. Like I said earlier, the focus over the past year or two has been "MORE MORE MORE" when it should be "slower, better".
It is what it is and DTG has never responded to this kind of topics with this kind interpretation. That you didn't respond on my point about the Maintalbahn is a really good exemple how it's going here with most cases... If there are people with a valid point you find an another bad cow in the field and complaining about it further more.
You must be a real joy at parties lol Is that all you can think of to reply with? "Your opinion's not valid, nor is anyone else with a pessimistic view". Just because you don't agree with someone doesn't make their concerns or criticisms any more or less valid; part of existing is living with differing points of view...
Yep, this is my entire issue. Nobody is faulting them for making mistakes, it's the fact they ignore the mistakes and don't try to fix/resolve issues. They don't even learn from them for future routes. You can still have bugs that were reported years ago in old routes popping up in new routes. Everything just feels like it's thrown out the door with minimal bug fixing or polish, and then it's ignored in favour of preparing the next bugged unpolished piece of content to throw out the door. I don't have an issue with bugs, I have an issue with bugs being ignored and then the devs going "We can see there is an issue, we might possibly think about fixing it in the future, but in the meantime please buy this new release."
DTG should take a year off, creating routes. Their main priority should be tackling the ever growing bug list. They still have their third party developers for new routes, so they should let them rise to the challenge. Speaking of third party devs, it’s got me thinking on what just trains next route will be.
A year would probably be too long. But they should definitely focus purely on bugfixing and polish for 3 months or so. It's really the only negative of the product, and it's building up more and more with every release.
LMAO...... 99% of the comments here are negative related so how can you make this claim..... Look in the mirror and you see what's going on here.....
Dtg isn't the one who fixed the signaling on Boston sprinter. It was fixed by a developer (2nd party i believe) who decided to do it because he wanted to in his free time. If he didn't, then Boston sprinter would not have been updated
That should actually give you something to think about. I repeat myself, but: If something is good, it will be written here. Most recently, see the Rivets route, which was initially skeptical, but then the tone after publication was generally positive. The quality of Niddertal and Preston Omskirk was also adequately acknowledged. There are always people who are dissatisfied and criticize, but when there is as much to complain about as here, it is hardly the fault of the bad users, but rather the product. I would also have preferred to write nice things and share my joy. But you can't force what isn't there.
Its not good let me be clear but if you try to fix them you get more bugs instead of fix the one that was needed before.... But if we talk about the maintalbahn that's not fair to expect a fix now... The release was right before christmas and i hope to expect a fix asap! But for me in personal that some things here are way over done and that impatient behavior are also a big deal is. I saw also a suggestion for small direct fixes but that's what i written earlier if you do than it will brake the game more than it will fixed.
Xander1986 : I see your point. But afaik they already released a fix (i think a sign without texture was corrected) and I really don't understand why they did not at least include the oversensitive drive lever in this update. I cannot imagine that fixing this issue takes that much effort. Perhaps I am also too "oversensitive" but over the years I am frankly disappointed of how DTG handles all that stuff.
Yep, they fixed a sign that wasn't supposed to be there and had "development only" or similar text next to it. And I gotta agree with Nasenhupe here. I understand de-prioritizing cosmetic or potentially complicated fixes (timetables, signalling) and waiting a couple months to batch them into a larger update, but not fixing minor issues that have a huge impact on gameplay and enjoyability like the drive lever here or the invisible PZB lights on the ÖBB train is bad management imo. On PC all of these have unofficial fixes within a couple days (mods), which shows they can be fixed without a ton of follow-up breakage that requires a ton of additional fixes and testing – so why not prioritize such issues, quickly ship the fixes and receive much more good will and trust this way..?
Yeah only the sign but what did you expect right before the Holidays. Its very simple.... This discussion is useless as hell and is taken over and over again but i can give you the answer.... You dindt Like it but they did not change the way how they do that... Get over it and love the routes that are good now
There is a mod which fixes the over-sensitive power lever but I am not sure if I am allowed to post a link here.
Environment is PC Steam Johnny mode freight 54867 train Repeated derailment and runaway cannot be completed in automatic operation
This is an additional bug When you release the brake, the throttle will accelerate at idle. Crash into a car stop If you are lucky you can move to the opposite end. There is a major derailment in the first connection scene. Have you played test? Timetable mode Platinum achievable Please do not reduce the value of the product
Cargo that cannot be completed Environment is PC Timetable mode EZK54877 train Go west after connecting containers Ended with a traffic light error when returning east please give me back my time
Service 44882 at 04:34 cannot continue because service 65884, not due to start until 05:02, runs up and blocks the line. This service also starts with the loco ramming into the wagons behind, which is a bit alarming!
I also get the ramming when running this service with a 363. With the G6 on the same service I get an instant "service derailed".
No, scenery is still pretty messed up. Handle of the DMU is still way too sensitive, and you still cant turn off or dim the one bright white screen in your face.
I read a post on another forum where a XBOX user said that the handle sensitivity was reduced and the screen on the right side now can be dimmed. I would love a statement from DTG why this was fixed for consoles only.
Yeah, read that too and then was surprised that on my PC all the issues were still there. Looks like none of the fixes for Maintalbahn & Bernina reached PC: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/published-fixes-missing-from-wcu2.78556/
Glad to see some things are fixed but I do hope more updates are coming. The BR 642 looks amazing, the model is great, but it is still too slow to be on time in the timetable, even when using 100% throttle and using 100% brake to stop. The throttle handle is indeed too sensitive. And I am also still missing the red covers on the couplers. I don't see them on any train in the timetable but do see them on promotional images. The overall route quality is not amazing, but I at least hope the train will be improved since it will probably pop up in future routes as well.
The 642 still cannot be uncoupled in the latest patch. I bug reported this just a few days after launch and then waited 2 months for a fix that didn't come. I am incredibly frustrated and disappointed. UPDATE: Thanks to Xander1986, I have learned that the uncoupling bug can be overcome by setting Player Assist to Beginner. The automatic coupling mode has an uncoupling prompt that helps workaround this bug.
Mephrite, here's how I was able to workaround and complete RE 87 (23390) Wertheim to Aschaffenburg Hbf: 1. Set Player Assist to "Beginner" in the options. 2. As soon as the signal turns yellow, accelerate to max throttle as fast as you can without wheelslip and ignore all speed limits. 3. By maxing the throttle and ignoring speed limits, I was able to arrive at Klingenberg just 47 seconds late. This enabled me to snatch the green signal from the oncoming train that creates the permanent red signal when arriving too late to Klingenberg. I didn't have any further signal issues on the service. 4. At the end of the service, the automatic coupling mode from Beginner Player Assist will prompt you to uncouple. 5. Head to the end of the other train segment you just uncoupled, closest to the next stop marker. 6. Sit in the driver's seat. You will be warned about losing your journey mode progress. Accept this and continue. 7. Drive to the very close stop marker and stop. The service will complete and you will still earn a medal and your journey mode check mark. I received a gold for my efforts. It's crazy that we have to use these workarounds, but at least we can complete the journey mode chapter now!
So apparently some of these things were fixed but the update did not work on Steam. I had another update this weekend and the sensitivity has been fixed. The right screen is now also dimmable. Thanks for fixing this! These still require an update: 1. The BR 642 is a bit too slow. It should not be a fast unit, but if you would try any RB service from Aschaffenburg you will notice you can't keep up with the timetable right from the start. 2. These red covers on/around the couplers are missing (at least on Steam/PC). First image is a promo image, the second is my experience. [EDIT] The covers are seasonal and only present in winter. So not a bug, but actually an impressive feature.
The covers are in reality only in wintertime so it could be fixed to this time period in the year in game as well... I have not tested it sofar.....
Thanks! I just checked and that is indeed the case! Spotted them in January and they are missing in July. I usually drive in autumn, maybe that is why I have not seen them. In that case it is a really nice addition. Well done DTG.
Than i have a good instinct about this.... Its not so strange the game knows months and times so its easy to implement
The MAIN: Desiro-able achievement is still not obtainable, the 642 is still very underpowered, February 2024 Xbox series x
Two issues that noticeable on Xbox Series S after the update: The ugly white background trees during winter time, similar to what we had at SKW and LFR before it was fixed by an update. I really don’t understand why this is back again at a new DLC. Missing El6 signals at Aschaffenburg at the beginning of the non electrical route. This signals are in place at MSB, why are they missing here?
I would hold off and put the money towards the new releases coming out in the next couple of months. Even looking past the bugs this route is very much a 'meh'.
Yeah, I wouldn't buy it for the route. Even though it's basically my go-to comfort route at the moment because it's so relaxed and monotonous lol. If you really want the 642 Desiro it might be worth it though, it's a sleek and modern train and especially the modern timetable for Niddertalbahn utilizing it is super enjoyable Edit: nvm, just realized you probably can't use Editor creations on PS so no modern timetable
