STOP [EDIT - Jan - Language] ROBBING US!!!! Do you understand the pressures of today and the effect they are having on People? Do you have any idea of the Economic Climate? But yet, you produce a Route between £20-£30 and then you produce additional Trains at a Cost too. And what is with the significant, substantial difference between Train Simulator and TSW with the Routes. Train Simulator have full routes, for example, Edinburgh to Penzance (Buffer Stop to Buffer Stop). TSW are given an estimate of 40 miles of track? And please don't give me any LOVE about Console capability, Microsoft can give Xbox Series X users like myself, a Flight Simulator with the entire World mapped out and Live satellite, then I'm sure DTG's are capable of making a Train Simulator with full Lines, all Trains (that are included with the DLC's) and more realistic AI and scenery. I have friends that were interested in TSW until you started doing this and they are struggling in this Climate, so it appears you have no consideration for your Fans who I see slowly falling away from the Game.
All I wanna say is you need to look more into the business side of things before you write out something like this.
Nothing is free in this world. Games are a luxury and you don't need it to survive. Don't buy it or wait for a sale if it's too expensive. They need to get paid for their work and the company needs to exist. If they make things for free, you don't have a company anymore. You're also making unfair comparisons. Msfs is made by a triple a studio made with several hundred employees and an "endless budget" with access to the most modern tech in the world supplied by Microsoft which is bing maps and ai. Dtg is very small compared to that nor do they have unlimited budget. The same techniques also don't work. While msfs looks great from the sky, it doesn't look great up close. That doesn't work in tsw. Things take much longer to make in tsw than tsc because it's more complex. They have to make things by a certain deadline and creating 100+ miles of track is really hard unless dtg only create like 1 route a year For the same price, tsw is still better value. You get a full timetable and don't require a million different dlc to buy 1 dlc. If you really think making routes and trains is really easy, make it yourself. The editor exists and why don't you actually try it. Or you can create your own train sim using the same tech msfs does and make every single train in the world.
I think most of understand that yes, the game has been in a very rough shape and yes, the routes are indeed quite expensive. However, this isn't exactly a suggestion and moreso a criticism... a bit strong at that, there's no reason to swear. I do agree, that routes are quite expensive, aswell as the additional Train DLCs. However, Developers need to be paid, this stuff isn't made for free. DTG is a business, and as a business they have to generate profit. With the PC Editor, I'm sure that the expense will be a bit lower for the consumer IF these mods are released for free or at a lower price. Now, another thing is is that no one is forcing you to buy any of the Add-ons in the game, if you are struggling financially please DO NOT prioritize video game DLCs over IRL expenses that you need. Health and well-being comes before video games. For the comparisons made we start with Microsoft Flight Simulator: MSFS2020 utilizes Photogrammetry Data aswell as Blackshark.AI to produce the map it has in-game, these tools are not compatible with a Train Simulator in UE4 in which you are up close to buildings. Trust me, if you played MSFS2020 and got up close to the Buildings, you'd know they look like melted candles. Microsoft Flight Simulator is fully funded by Microsoft, meaning they have way more options on what they can do than what DTG has. Microsoft Flight Simulator works very differently from Train Sim World, therefore it is not applicable to TSW. As for the comparison to Train Simulator, they have had a very long time to establish a large community that still makes routes for the game. Its also a game made in a different engine. As said, with the PC Editor, we're slowly entering a pretty good state where we could get many more routes DTG otherwise isn't able to prioritize aswell as trains that we want in the game. Criticism is important, but it has to be done properly and in a respectful manner.
Oh my word. The forum was out of action for a while but it is back with a vengeance. I don't think any attempt to explain or answer any of the why? questions in the OP because they wouldn't take any of it on board.
I just wanted to say that they have a survey on their twitter page where you can share your views and also get a chance to win money.
All games cost, they ain’t essential items so it can’t be argued on the basis of someone’s own money. If you want, the price tag is there. Struggles of the money department are only food, water, gas, electric, clothes, transport, home. Looking into purchasing dlc is like buying cigarettes you ain’t going to get much sympathy for struggling to buy such things and putting them in the necessities category. what I’m basically saying is if you’re struggling for cash and buying dlc the problem isn’t the price of the dlc it’s the choice to spend what you have left on dlc, that’s quite crazy and dreadful basic money management.
I understand nothing is free, but Gaming is supposed to be an enjoyment and for some People it is a genuine Hobby, and I have to say it is fun playing TSW. I know that there are complications regarding a Companys' Budget, but when you have worked hard and you come Home and you boot up the Game only to find DTG's have yet again added another Train which we are now having to pay more money for in which could have been implemented into a a Route in which we have already paid anything between £20-£30 for, and in doing so is also taking up more memory but yet DTG's complain about Console Requirements etc.
If they can afford to give [EDIT - Jan - Language] Money away, then I'm sure they can lower the prices of their DLC's
Hate to break it to you but most hobbies cost money and to gain the product/service for zed hobby needs to come from a company who needs to sell the product/service for money to pay for bills, improving content, pay staff, invest into the products they provide etc etc etc
And FYI they're aren't giving out money they're giving the chance for 20 to win a DLC of there choice man
As many people have said before, Hobbies are not essential. If you do not have the money for a certain hobby, find something else to do. There are plenty of activities that do not require an investment of money. There's no need to have such a visceral reaction to it. Good criticism must remain respectful so we can all learn something.
This reminds of a thread that someone made last year when Dtg joined with Focus, ranting about things that the op has clearly not research thoroughly first and therefore coming up with a really poor argument that is not in any way constructive and quite frankly rude. Yes there are things about Tsw that can/should be improved (I think most of us can agree on that one) but there are far better ways to put your argument across, this kind of attitude will get you nowhere.
That isn't exactly the same is it? Think about it logically if you can, that Gaming is the only thing to stop People losing their minds in this increasing economic recession. I would also like to know your opinion on DTG creating Trains that we have to pay for that could have been implemented into a Route that already exists, for example, the American Acela.
If the only thing that is keeping you from losing your mind is a video game, you may want to seek professional help for that as it sounds a bit like an addiction. Another thing is, during an economic recession, a business wouldn't necessarily lower their prices as an economic recession impacts EVERYONE...that includes businesses. I suggest maybe finding a hobby like going for walks or jogging. Something that does not cost money.
Enjoyment unfortunately is no right, but a privilege. I would enjoy a Ferrari but have no right to one. My view on the topic you mentioned is it’s fine, not only was the Acela not advertised as a base route loco, but that route already came with more than one train originally. Many stations therefore routes have many different classes of trains serving them, it’s expensive and will increase pricing to do them all with the base route, the extra dlc at the reasonable price point (which is where it is now on loco dlc) is the only way at ever seeing many of those trains or they would probably be left out for good.
I wouldn’t try to do that one, always make it clear it’s on your view point, speaking for others however right cause or not never goes down well.
The community has many different viewpoints, and it is indeed not the general opinion of the community. The prices are indeed steep, but from a business standpoint, for the most part it is understandable.
I am calm, but i address an issue about the company and everyone jumps on the Band Wagon without logically thinking about what and why I said what I did and my attitude towards them
We have, and have explained to you multiple times that despite the situation, the reaction and language of the post is unwarranted. The developers are people too, if you want them to take your criticism seriously, you must remain respectful.
You're saying they're in the wrong for trying to make money. They also have a home to keep, bills to pay, and need to pay their employees a decent wage.
I am calm, but I have an opinion and everyone jumps on the Band Wagon without logically thinking about what and why I said what I did and my attitude towards it. The community should be able to enjoy Gaming without a small company being money grabbing [EDIT - Jan - Language]
In my opinion: *Include everything into 1 DLC. Don't create a DLC and then create a Train several months later as a separate item which they could just simply update a DLC which would then implement their new Train instead of having to charge People twice. * Extend routes beyond what they are, for example, GWR. How boring is that Route now? Where as if they extend Routes from Buffer Stop to Buffer Stop it would make it a lot more interesting. We would then be getting value for our Money. *Spend more time creating DLC's than doing these pathetic Roadmap videos on YouTube. There are 3rd Party Developers that spend more time on development that DTG's do working on theirs I have to say. I'll say it again in case People didn't catch on to it. This is MY OPINION
You know that the people creating the roadmap videos and this stuff are not the same who actually develop the game? There are seperate teams, doing different tasks.
1. They can't do this. Their entire business model relies on selling DLC. You're not forced to buy everything they produce, and it isn't feasible nor realistic for them to build a route and every loco that current exists on it. 2. Route extensions are hard given the way routes are built. Once they are cooked they need to be rebuilt from scratch for an extension to happen, which costs money. 3. The roadmaps are a useful source of information as to what is coming up. The people doing the roadmaps aren't the same people who build the route. While I respect your opinion, and you are entitled to one, I find your attitude quite frankly disgusting. There are more civil ways to have a discussion.
not from scratch but certain things need changing for them rather than just putting in the extension stuff.
This is the thing you should've posted at the start instead of going off on a vulgar rant. Criticism that is lining out your opinion in specific points and specific ideas on improvements.
Matt is the Head of the Production Team. I can't really remember names but there have been People on the Stream that are involved in the Development of TSW, and we have had 4 Games in the last 8 Years and I believe TSW5 is being rumoured??? Wouldn't you say that is absurd???
Because the forums is not the place for anger filled vulgar rants, it doesn't help anyone. All it does is spread unneeded negativity with nothing of value. Just because you swear alot in real life, doesn't justify you doing it here. If you want to constantly go on rants about the game, maybe you should do that somewhere else.
