First impressions are good, but I think there's room for improvement in the UI menus. Firstly, if I name a consist, let me find it by that name when I want to spawn that consist into the world. Currently I need to select the loco in order to find my consist. (And that requires some knowledge as well as remembering stuff). Just let the search box search for the actual name I chose for my consist. Secondly, the "Add Custom" button has an icon of a locomotive, the "Add Official" has an icon of a wagon. There's no need to add this confusion. There's locos and wagons to be found under both categories. Thirdly, this is a very long list of codes. It'd be really really really helpful if I could see a thumbnail of the actual wagon I've selected. (Or better yet, show thumbnails of the entire list). I found one of the Dostos by accident because these names are confusing if you don't have any technical knowledge. And please don't use an icon resembling a passenger wagon for freight wagons. A filter to filter out passenger or freight wagons respectively would be nice too.
the last one hits hard lol one thing that would also help, for those who want to create weird consists that exist in real world, like this one: so I wanted to make a consist similar to this one - IRL sometimes there is Taurus 1016... so I tried to do 1 Taurus + 1 dosto coach + 3 IC coaches + 1 dosto control car... IRL such consists work no problem... but here, from the Taurus end, it works nicely, but when run from the control cab, I can raise/lower panto, open/close MCB, get doors to open/close, but I cant get the power for throttle into the control cab, which is weird, cos stuff is connected and sth clearly works... but in game's script/modelling, sth clearly isnt working I assume stuff like this either gets worked out, or the editor could let me know that this consist wont really run... would save me time and woes :/
If you can point me at any such instances I can look to change them. That changes the nature of the UI as it currently sits - which is to search from a list of locos, I get what you're asking but that's not something we'll be changing in the beta timeframe. I like the idea though and will see what can be considered at a later date. I'll go through and add "dosto" to the names of the dosto vehicles, if there are any others that need expanding, by all means send me your notes. It's not really going to be easily possible for the formation designer to test to see if a formation is viable, there are way too many variables, so I don't see this being addressed in the beta timeframe however i'll talk to the team to see if there's a way to figure it out at least in part.
