Glad we're getting the full circle and not just one side, unfortunate it doesn't go to Perth or Dundee but oh well, hopefully rivet doesn't mess up the 170
Given that this is being made by Rivet, my expectations will not be high. Edinburgh to Glasgow still has problems especially with the sounds of the class 385 and given that Edinburgh-Glasgow still has problems that have not been resolved, this may well be a easy pass
I hope so. I do like scottish routes but Rivet Games really did underperform with Edinburgh-Glasgow. I don't want to be negative or skeptical, but I won’t be having high expectations
They'll probably do some bug fixes for all their routes when it comes out. That's the usual with rivet.
Will be good to have a busier EDN as well, with more stuff at Queen street and Edinburgh as well as the 158 hopefully layering onto Cathcart around glasgow
The 158 and 170 coming to it even make it better! Finally the 170 in the game, and my personal opinion the 170 looks best in the Scotrail livery
Personally I am unsure why the 158 will come separately with the route only including the 170. There will be a lot of pressure on Rivet to avoid another 150/2 situation.
They still need to nail it. DTG Adam, please help rivet with the sounds for the class 170!!! (And phycics too if possible)
Is there an article on this? Buzzing for the route, very wary of who’s doing it given the outstanding issues with Edinburgh to Glasgow. Assuming they use the existing sounds etc. from the midland mainline 158 it does remove one of their biggest issues. Done correctly could be one of the best routes in the game, makes Waverley and Haymarket busy, hoping they add the 158 & 170 into ScotRail Express as AI, as well as the 801 to Waverley atleast & fix the outstanding issues but probably wishful thinking. Need to be convinced to purchase this one based on previous.
I was looking forward to this until I heard it was rivet doing it I'm quite sceptical but it will be nice if they could get this right WCL and Edinburgh to Glasgow hasn't gone down to well let's hope they've learnt from past mistakes
I do hope so. I have put this in the other thread but in case you (or others) didn't see it Matt's words were ' Between the two developers across a couple of packs you are going to have a whole Scotrail collection of trains there to add to your collection'.
no no no no no no no. Not Rivet with the 170. Please no. Someone has to step in to help them out with this one, Fife Circle is such an anticipated route for TSW, Rivet cannot be allowed to ‘do their thing’ with this one.
Other than the 385 sounds (which are absolutely woeful) what is wrong with E2G? I don’t understand this slating Rivet get. Bernina line is excellent and E2G is very good. I’m sure Fife Circle will be excellent too. I must be missing something right?
Guessing this was a route announced in the roadmap today. Sounds like they've not decided to do a new livery and interior for the existing HST which is a shame. Also surprised that, from what you've said, LNER services won't be playable on the route by default timetable mode. LNER could operate Edinburgh to Aberdeen calling at Haymarket, Inverkeithing and Kirkcaldy before you hand off to another driver (I know this doesn't happen IRL, they do operate but don't hand off at this point, but it would add more variety). All it would require is slight adaptations to the 801 to turn it to an 800, or even just an (albeit unrealistic) change to performance under the single diesel engine.
The best thing about this release will be the layering possibilities for multiple units, so much better for immersion than just single train routes, obviously the Goblin being the exception.
im really nervous to trust rivet with a 170, knowing from experience with the 150 The 158, is fine, that's from skyhook, so nothing is gonna get riveted
Hopefully they give us an option in settings to shorten the time the guard door on the 158 takes to close, or alternatively use a more generous non-ai timetable!
Does anyone know if the 158 will be included when you purchase the route, or only available if you already own MML please?
There’s a whole list of outstanding issues. On their own outwith the sounds probably arguable as not major but put together there’s a quite a lot to outstanding. Rain on windscreens and emergency braking on neutral sections the two bigger ones. Which if they did would make it a pretty solid route. The big frustration is that majority have been known since launch or first patch in the week after launch.
Terrible distant scenery and poor sounds are two of my biggest issues with the Edinburgh-Glasgow. Now I don't think the route is the worst in the world. But at $40, it was a letdown. Not to mention that there are issues that they said they are aware of but have yet to resolve a year after release which is unacceptable and hence the criticisms that the route gets here on the forums and in reviews Not to mention the debacle of Arosa and West Cornwall Local which have their own set of problems with poor physics and terrible sounds. Don't even get me started on the distant scenery in the Arosa Line
Like what though? I’ve driven it end to end a number of times recently (after the 66 pack and update) and don’t see anything glaringly wrong with it. It’s certainly no worse than many other routes.
Im likely missing a couple but - • Rain not on drivers windscreen • Neutral Sections randomly applying brakes • Poor train sounds • Poorer sounds with the internal cab door opened, as if it was an external one. • Announcements not recognised when you’ve arrived at destination • Announcement not recognising if you change ends and want to take the service back • Missing late night services • Incorrect stopping patterns on alternate rush hour services • Platform PIS cutting off Waverley • Platform PIS not showing off route stops on Alloa & Dunblane services
Very minor gripe, but scotrail's 158s have slightly different snowploughs to the EMR ones, with more of a V shape rather than being flat. (Example seen below) (Previewed image) (Actual image) Yes a very minor issue but if we're paying for another 158 I feel like it should at least have the right front, obviously it could still be a WIP though
I thought that at first, but after rewatching and listening to that bit of the stream, it is fairly safe to say that the 158 is separate.
I was happy when I heard Fife circle but when I heard 170 omg im so excited i cant wait! Turbostars are amazing. Hopefully there are services running 5 coaches with a 170+158 combo. I also hope fife circle layers the 801 and 385
Exterior door lights not working. Gaurd Door being completely locked out of use if the driver tries to open the doors from the cab while you have your key in the pannel.
I too don't understand this constant Rivet bashing. Yes the class 150 is well known about, I know there is some disgruntlement with the WCL scenery but much of the route looks very good, especially the station environs. I agree the class 385 sounds are poor, luckily for PC users there is an excellent sound pack, but in my opinion the Edinburgh to Glasgow route is well made, the scenery looks fine to me, the stations seem well modelled, there are some bugs still with the 385 which I hope will be fixed but it isn't undriveable. Arosa apart from the distant scenery is fine, much of the early issues have been fixed. The IOW is a nice looking route and the 484 seems well modelled too. I don't have the Bermina line yet but it looks very well made. At least Rivet do try and do something different.
