It is a level of irony almost unmatched, moan about product in your ego boosting video, rake in the money, refund the product so the developer doesn't even benefit. Repeat ad-infinitum. Personally I don't watch these types of videos anyway, you can often tell what it is going to be like by the title or the pre-amble. Many moan about the ambassadors not being objective, there are some reviewers who seem to bend over backwards to be the opposite, they are no more objective.
How is it common for a youtuber to do a video review to get likes and views on there channel then refund it. That is wrong and quite honestly i would go far as to say potentially theft as you getting credit for something you dont own
People don't usually get paid for leaving reviews. People making YouTube videos are generally looking to make money when it comes to this sort of thing.
They are two faced. Moan about TSW, bash DTG (I wouldn't be surprised if some of them are on here), then proceed to happily make money from the companies products they purport to have such a disdain for!
Theft? To be honest, I don't see an issue with a person reviewing something and refunding if the product wasn't good or in a bad state. I've purchased products and refunded them. Many others do. It's something that happens often and I don't see an issue with that. If you don't like it then I'm not sure what more to say. It's not like anyone is doing anything wrong or breaking laws. To each their own I guess
yes and refunding the product they uploaded if they dont like it yet still leaving the video uploaded and making money for it.
They are profiting from a paywalled product they didn't pay for. I see no issue in someone trying out a DLC and refunding it if they don't like it. That's why the feature is there. I just don't think it's right to make money - or, if not, get clicks and possible subscribers (which probably means more than money to some of the people in the TSW YouTube world) off of a paywalled product - that people worked hard to make - without at least giving them the minimum that is the price of the product. If you don't want to pay; You shouldn't get you earn.
OK. I still do not have an issue with that at all. Many of the channels that review tsw products don't have many subscribers and won't rake in tons of money compared to what DTG make. You are entitled to your opinions, but I just don't see an issue.
If it was made anyone other than Rivet I’d be hyped. But I do t trust them. In fact I do trust them to deliver a broken game.
good job they are not making a game then and just a dlc for a game you already own. Amazing how bitter people are because it has a certain developers name. Give it day of release and you will own it and be here telling us all how good it is
It really isn't surprising that Rivet Games have a mixed reception on the forums here given the issues with their products. Some of which are still not resolved. I mean if you enjoy their products, that is fine, but it's not like the reception and criticisms of Rivet Games are invalid or not warranted. Honestly I don't understand why there are some individuals in this forum that try to dismiss valid criticisms or try to shut down those that are rightly skeptical about a product in this game. I don't think anyone here wants to see Rivet fail, but the reception of Rivet Games is not nor shouldn't be surprising given their history. Ironically it is the same individuals that do this as well. Just because you may enjoy a product or have different expectations does not make one's criticisms or skepticism invalid
I'll just wait until the route comes out, although I wasn't particularly impressed with the 150 or West Cornwall route.
I must admit that is my least favourite route in the sim. But let’s not forget wasn’t this there first route they done everyone has to start somewhere
I think it's perfectly fine to be nervous about this route given how Rivet have a very spotty track record. In my opinion they've only made two good products, the Island Line with the Class 484 and the Bernina Line, the rest range from meh to awful.Their last Scottish route was ruined by wrong sounds and poor scenery so they really have to turn things around. I don't like the idea that the 158 is a separate paid add on especially since I already own it but hopefully it comes with a fair few scenarios and is priced the same as the RR 323 by Simtrack. The route choice is solid, just don't mess it up Rivet.
Why? If they're due to release roughly at the same time then I don't see why they can't both layer on.
Jasper actually said that he wanted to try and sort that. It'll probably happen alongside the release of the new route.
Highland Services to Dundee, Aberdeen and Inverness stop at Markhinch. Also. Glenrothes is on the top left of the circle. Kickaldy is on the top right of the circle. Markhinch is on the top of the circle.
Perfect route for scenario making then especially with scenario planner 2.0 we'll be able to hopefully populate edinburgh waverley, run depot moves and multiple runs as well. Which gives scenarios the opportunity to be a lot more busy
I’ll give you the rain on the windscreens, I’d forgotten about that. That was never acceptable and it’s completely ludicrous that that hasn’t been rectified. The same applies to the neutral sections, but then DTG have made a dogs dinner of neutral sections on the ECML and I don’t see anyone complaining about that. The sounds have already been mentioned, they are woeful and have always been so. Thankfully, on PC, we have an excellent mod that fixes that so it’s not really something I notice anymore. The announcements were a first go I guess and we’re always a total waste of time. As they’re not automated I just don’t bother with them. The implementation on Bernina Line is next level and I’d expect that on Fife Circle as well. I’d be very disappointed if that’s not the case. The rest of the list is the sort of thing that we see on pretty much all DLC, it’s not down solely to Rivet. Whilst the lack of patches to obvious problems is frustrating (actually, unacceptable) I don’t see that Rivet are any better or worse than any other dev, Just Trains excepted. In other words, Rivet seem to be being made a scapegoat for issues that blight almost every DLC in the game. I don’t see that as fair, and I feel Rivet’s general quality is certainly as good, if not even slightly better, than DTG’s.
Correction: Aberdeen services go express from Haymarket to Cupar nowadays Unless this route is set in 2019, then Aberdeen services would stop at Inverkeithing and Kirkcaldy
Oh. My mistake. Just Dundee services then that stop at Markhinch? 2019 might bring a busier timetable but I think it'll be modern day so they can layer the 385 at Waverly.
Rivet Games quality is slightly better than DTG? That is a bit of a stretch. Also if it's not Rivet's fault that they release routes that have so many issues such as poor physics, sounds, scenery amongst other issues, and hardly make improvements then who's fault is it? They make their own DLC's. They choose whether to make improvements. I don't see why they should be excused or be viewed as a scapegoat just because other routes may have issues as well.
If this wasn’t Rivet then I would probably say Day One purchase. I’m sure they will do the route justice but I am a Doubting Thomas when it comes to fidelity of the Class 170. I mean they never did properly fix the 150 on WCL or all the little wrinkles with the route.
I'm hoping it'll be like mml all over again and dtg might step in to help make the train good quality.
On the upside, if Rivet make a mess of the 170, at least the 158 will be an option (even if sold separately) - they'll probably have the same services.
I hope skyhook model the different cab. It'll be cool to see the ScotRail carpeting and patterns on the seats and baggage holders. Also the ScotRail class 158 has other differences such as, P.I.S, Door Sounds, snow plough, livery, etc. It will be interesting to see how the two 158's in the game compare. Notice the two different seats styles. The one without the head board being refurbished at Haymarket TMD and the comfier looking one with the headboard being refurbished at Inverness TMD.
I wonder if rivet will add in the ex southern 170's as well. In ScotRail livery, the only noticeable difference I believe is the light clusters.
Can you stop spamming the thread with multiple messages and pictures your looking up it is getting a bit annoying now.
I doubt it will be as then people will need to have Edinburgh to Glasgow route for the 385 which will only run on a small section of the line. They are not going to do that as it will cost them sales which is lost revenue. It will be a stand alone route that will use the 170 and 158 which is sold seperate to the route.
I'm not saying people will NEED the 385. I'm saying because we saw Dumblane on the P.I.S at Waverly. It will probably be Modern day so that the class 385 can layer in. But it does not have to layer in.
that is how the timetable works you put in services that are in the timetable and the ai runs to it. no one knows what era this route is going to be in it could be any era as the 158 and 170 have ran in the route for years. For all we know it could be way before 385s entered service. and like I said if they make it so that the timetable requires the 385 as a layer that is going to cause issues for those who don’t own the edin glas route.
I agree modern day, makes the most sense. Makes the best use of available stock, making Waverley as busy as possible. Missed opportunity if it’s a different era imo.
Dunblane could also be a pre-electrification service run by a 170. Also, the Dunblane is only there because it's a screenshot from Edinburgh-Glasgow - edited just to tease.
It's possible (though unlikely) there could be 2 timetables, one set pre-electrification with 170s as AI and one set post-electrification with 385s
If I don't own the 385, I wouldn't expect there to be any AI at Edinburgh. Oh, the irony of this amuses me.
