I can imagine a story developing here. In the first train, robbers have stolen a chest of gold and are trying to get away with it. In the second train, law enforcement in hot pursuit!

Saying that, Smokebox, the developer, released a scenario with that exact premise - if you have UP 119 I'd highly recommend it.

Swindon Castle pulls out of the station at Bangor, North Wales, May 1986. This photograph is taken from just above the entrance to the tunnel on the west side of Bangor station. Note the mixed coaching stock, which is very evocative of that period. Based on actual footage from the GWR Steam video narrated by Peter Woods and findable on YouTube. The original clip shows a King class and City of Truro double-heading, with the coaching stock exactly as it is here. I have chosen a Castle instead of a King to achieve the necessary "clean" look seen in the preservation era.

The route is Steaming Over Beattock and provides a great challenge for those advanced steamers and managing all the bits and bobs on the gradient. I managed to reach around 65 mph before my game crashed just outside of Crawford for mysterious reasons.

Very nice! I like the reflection here. Reminds me a little of the intro to the Thomas videos, I'm vaguely remembering that at the start of each episode there was a windmill on the right, and as the train ran along the horizon, it was reflected in the water below. Nostalgia aside, there's something satisfying about the train racing its reflection. Good stuff. :)

I totally agree with you! :) There's something special to this type of view ( train with water reflection ). I grew up watching Thomas so I know exactly what you mean. :)

I finally figured out how to get re-skins to work, so I decided to give one of them the ol' night photo treatment to celebrate! Didn't quite turn out how I wanted it to, but I'm still satisfied with the result.

I've managed to find a rather picturesque section of track on the NS Coal District Route, that (at least from what I've seen) is rather unused. I'm quite happy with the results of these screenshots!

On 11 August 1999, a total eclipse of the sun took place. This event was witnessed by thousands of people, and was filmed by the BBC and other news outlets worldwide. The area of total eclipse passed over the UK, France, Turkey and several other countries. In the UK, several special railtours were put on to take passengers down to the southwest coast of England, which was believed to be the best spot from which to view the total eclipse of the sun by the moon. This event was the first time such an eclipse had been visible since 1927; thousands travelled from all over the country to witness it.

One particular train was hauled by an EWS Class 37, and I have recreated it below. Here, the train is seen setting out. The morning of 11th August saw clear skies for the most part, however as the hours went by the sky increasingly clouded over and by the time the train reached Plymouth, the sky was overcast. However, I can still clearly remember the whole sky turning dark at 11.11am on 11 August 1999. I was sitting high up on the cliffs near Plymouth, looking out over the sea. The atmosphere as the sky darkened was hard to describe but it was surreal, as if for a brief moment the world was ending. It was a little disconcerting.

    20190512010306_1.jpg
Below, the Solar Eclipse railtour approaches Plymouth. The clouds are already starting to appear and by the time the train reaches its destination, the sun will no longer be visible. Ironically, the predictions that the southwest would get the best view turned out to be wrong - meanwhile people in London and other parts of the country did get a good view, without even trying!

Long story short, one of the metal “tyres” ripped off the wheel and pierced the floor and got stuck, which after a while ripped off a guide rail on a switch, which also got pierced into the carriage, and the force derailed carriage number 3, on the switch, making it go on a 60 km/h switch at 200 km/h, which flew off to the side, crashed into a road bridge, which collapsed on carriage 5

The morning rush has been kicked into overdrive, as LAUPT becomes an immense beehive of activity in August of 1951. In the ATSF terminal, the westbound Super Chief (Train #17) deboards its passengers shortly after arriving, while southbound San Diegan (Train #80) waits for clearence to depart. In the SP terminal, a commuter train borards commuters bound for Ventura, and other stops along the SP system. The pride and joy of the SP, the Coast Daylight (Train #98) idles in the station, waiting for its 9:00 AM departure time. On the track next to that, another GS-4, stripped of its Daylight colors, backs onto its train, the San Joaquin Daylight (Train #51). As this is going on, the southbound running of The Owl (Trian #26), an overnight version of the daylight, pulls into the station with an AC-12, and GS-4 on the point. In the UP terminal, The City of Los Angeles (Train #932), powered by a brand new set of F7's deboards its passengers as well. And finally, on the next track over, a FEF-3, operating very far from home, idles with what is presumed to be an unscheduled fan trip excursion. It can clearly be seen that nearly all platforms have a train in them. The ones that don't, are due to the fact that the trains scheduled to be in those platforms are running late.

I decided to use the recent sale as an opportunity to buy the routes needed for me to get the Bergen Line off the workshop. Managed to capture this gem while playing a scenario for the route (also obtained from the workshop).

Something that's inadmissable to the screenshot contests, because it's not available on Steam: Western Mainlines by Just Trains (South Devon extension) with the Armstrong Powerhouse class 37.

    Very nice! Thanks for sharing.

I agree about the third party content rule, it's very limiting. I think I'll just post my screenshots here instead of in the contest in future, because the third party content rule pretty much rules out my entire library! I can't play the game without third party content. Virtually all of my steam locomotives and most of my diesel locomotives have sound packs from Steam Sounds Supreme or Armstrong Powerhouse, and a lot of my coaching stock is also modded/reskins, as well as a lot of the locomotives have reskins/are downloads not available in Steam.

Since this is the place where freedom is allowed, here's Flying Scotsman climbing the Settle and Carlisle :)

I played around a little in the route builder and created this little scene. I'd try to do more to make it a complete route, but I tend to run out of ideas in terms of scenery pretty quickly.

Since introduction of TGV Reseau I was looking for a TGV POS/Lyria/Thalys PBKA and I couldn’t find anything like that so… take this poorly made fictional POS Carmillon c:

I decided to create another little scene in the route builder today. I think it turned out quite well!

An alternate angle of my submission for this week's screenshot contest:

Other than that, I've just re-installed North Lincolnshire on my PC and have been having a ton of fun with it, now just to swap out that Kuju track...

Ps. I’ve also had found a TGV Lyria reskin (photos in next post).

Some scenes from a scenario I'm working on for the Portsmouth Direct Line. The player train is a Class 482 8MIG. Two of these units were formed from a 4-car Class 421, a buffet car, and a 3-car 421 with the TSO removed. They were used during the summer of 1983 while the entire Class 422 4BIG fleet was undergoing refurbishment to remove asbestos insulation. After the 422s were returned to traffic, the 482s were split up and reformed back into 4 separate Class 421 sets.
