If you want that then TVL fits because its set in 1989 with the Class 60 tug prototype being the new train working alongside the ageing Class 31 & 20 Blue star MU locos
Speaking as someone who can't even buy this route since I don't own TSW3/4, I think this and Vol 1 could/should have been released as a single DLC? New stock and services are appreciated, but I mean, Vol 1 costs 12 euros and if this is going to be the same... Nickle, meet dime.
Coal hoppers with scenarios and services on the Ratcliff Power Plant and I´d buy it day one. Even if they´re pulled by the omnipresent (and meanwhile boring) Class 66. But first Skyhook has to fix that tanker brake problem from Vol. 1. No fun with those SPADs.
I suspect coal hoppers would come later. This is aggregate. So Id expect moves to and from Mountsorrel with load\unload and turnaround. Same possibly for Hayes on the GWE dlc. So pretty good, hopefully. Something Id hope dtg or 3rd parties can look at with freight, is starting the services from signals before stations rather than the platforms themselves. Be nice to run down the hill into Acton or approach Reading from the West. If you still want to board a freight train at a Reading, Acton, Nottingham or Derby add a brief 1 minute stop there.
Indeed, I forgot about the Mountsorrel sidings. It would be an interesting add to have them employed.
I’d rather have decent quality work split into 2 DLC’s, as opposed to 1 mediocre DLC that should have been 2. Obviously there’s an element of ‘your mileage may vary’ with that idea. Hopefully though each volume does expand on utilising unused areas & new gameplay, as I said earlier, UK freight has been virtually untouched, despite having a few DLC’s with possibilities for more involved gameplay. There’s more value in that for me, than just a new livery on the 66, for the same price.
I'm wondering how making a more complete package that is better value for money would have made it "mediocre"? Unless the implication is that they are spitting these out as quickly as they can, and including more than one wagon and some new services and scenarios would break their QA? A couple more of these "volumes" and you'll have paid the amount of a complete route DLC.
Let’s say you have 1 month to make a DLC. You can spend that 1 month making a smaller batch of content, but putting more time into it, or you can make double the amount of content, but spend half the time on both parts of said content. Thats the reality TSW lives in now.
I think anything that brings variety is a good thing. I still hope.to see something other than the 66 pulling freight
Screenshots of Cargo Line Vol.2 Aggregates can be found here: https://flic.kr/s/aHBqjBdPJN Thanks for your interest.
Currently still being developed but we are working on scenarios and services that involve loading and unloading (though not in the same session!). Hopefully they'll make the final cut.
Can you confirm details regarding a 66? Will this pack come with one, and if so will be another EWS variant?
Would love some timetable services of Loading/unloading. They are the main thing that I feel is missing in a lot of TSW routes.
I can confirm it is an EWS66 in this pack. I am fully aware of the feedback from Cargo Line Vol.1 regarding included traction, but Skyhook are not in a position to take action on this front right now.
Hey Luca, what a shame, we really need a new loco but anyway, these can substitute to Class 66 DRS and ONE from Rivet Games? Thanks.
I think these packs are great- please keep 'em coming!! With free-roam a thing now, these packs really enhance what you can do with it.
Mmm, yes I suppose seeing a Western on a freight in the Midlands from an EMT HST would be slightly immersion breaking! A 47 may just be able to slip through the net!
Well, If you find what's doing it and you have the opportunity to fix it.... DON'T, This is one bug I'm enjoying lol
I remember watching the Dovetail Direct stream and when this was announced, so many people were just typing L in the Chat and ironically DTG deleted them but have no problem if someone typed W when other routes were announced. Looks like not everyone is a fan of these packs and this seems to cater to a smaller portion of the playerbase
I hope not, the serious weight on those 100T tankers makes the run far more realistic feeling. I don't want to be able to stop a heavy freight from line speed within a single section. Having to watch for the double amber and break immediately is far more immersive in my opinion.
What a shame it can't use the DB red 66 from GWE (with updated sounds?). Still really good to see more wagons and can't wait to see vol 3. Fingers crossed for some modern era engineers wagons (JNA Falcons or Autoballasters would be great?)
nothing wrong with the brakes on the tankers. You need to realise that IRL when driving a train a driver will adjust the braking of the train in terms of the line if you are spadding in sim then you are driving to fast for the weight you are carrying and not adjusting your brakes to have an effect on the train. Imagine this a train pulling 20 wagons and you brake you have that weight pushing your train along
Looking forward to this pack (vol 1 is great apart from the dodgy brakes), but would really appreciate it if Skyhook went the extra mile and substituted all current alternative 66 liveries, namely the previously suggested GWE DB and Rivet’s Scottish DLC. If we can’t for now have another class of loco, a good chance of something other than an EWS variant turning up would be great.
A new version of the CL-Petroleum.pak was shipped with the WCU2, and the brakes are applying correctly.
I'm not really sure what the complaints about the brakes are either- the loaded version is HEAVY, like almost 2000t i think, it's not gonna stop on a dime. I think people are driving too fast tbh- the 15mph turnout combined with the weight means i'm keeping to 50mph tops.
thats exactly what i do keep the speed to 50mph and you are fine. People obviously dont understand the laws of physics
There was an issue, even when going into a Full Service or Emergency from 20 mph, there was hardly any deceleration, like only the loco brakes were applying. Nothing to do with "stopping on a dime". As said, it seems to be fixed now.
I have not had any problems with the brakes although they probably needed some fine tuning. In fact, I have enjoyed the challenge and added variety of driving a heavy train that makes you think way ahead. I think most of us are happy to see these packs given DTGs long-standing neglect of all things modern freight in the UK. I think the only issue is we are sick to death of the cynical rehashing of the EWS 66. Thats on DTG though, not the 3rd parties, and I am very much looking forward to this pack. At least they are era relevant on the MML. I thought using it on the ECML was a bit of a stretch given that there are not that many left still bearing the EWS branding.
what i like about these packs is how much of a difference they can make to a route. All we need is a different freight train to the class 66 in sim. Something DTG are aware of i am sure and want to do as much as the community want them to do.
love these packs Adam….keep em coming mate please! Hopefully some Network Rail wagons of some sort in the future!
I really enjoyed Volume 1 so will almost certainly get Volume 2. I like driving freight, but also when driving Passenger, it's seeing the freight and static consists in Yards that make routes seem more alive. As others have said though. we desperately need something other than a 66!
Hi Adam. Great Job with the Cargo packs. Especially with bringing 52 and 47 to MML and GWE. 2 questions: 1. Will there be services at the poweplant at MML. 2. What about a new american freight route? Horse Curve and Cane Creek from Skyhook are my favorite routes on TSW.
In order to have a different freight loco for the UK we first need a route which uses something different on freight. The GWML is the workplace of 59/66 with only the DC 60 or occasional ROG 37 to break it up a bit. Same applies for SEHS. ECML is even more restrictive as it's pretty much just 66s (no 59s) in the era set. Glossop might see the odd 60 but isn't really long enough to handle a decent freight scenario. BCC is the same, the freight section is just to short for having a whole new loco type for. Maybe if we get a section of the WCML, or something like Birmingham - Derby then additional loco types would work. Or if we got the South Western Mainline to Eastleigh/Southampton then a 70 would work nicely.
We used to think we were hard done to 40-odd years ago with far too many 47s and HSTs around, but I sympathise as you young-uns have it bad for traction variety these days. 66s are powerful and efficient but ubiquitous and pretty dull if I’m honest. We were fortunate to still have most of the 1st generation diesels and electrics still knocking around. Saying that, I don’t mind pottering about in a “shed” if there’s nothing else to be had lol.
I'm old enough to remember 31s on Manchester Club Trains and 37s on the valleys as well as other traction types, but these days it's all 66 generally, which is boring, I am lucky living in the North West that I can go.and catch a variety within an hour or so from home, but certainly the South East gets very little variety beyond 66s and 90s (of course the 90s dont touch any of the routes in game. I would absolutely love DTG to do a 60, as long as it has a suitable route, and the only one that fits as far as I'm concerned is the DCR 60. A shame but it's just the way things are in the UK on the routes we have.
Hi Adam (LucaZone), I've noticed a few times when loading a saved game whilst using the cargo pack, the 66 brakes are always in a cut-out state and have to be cut-in manually again, even when the train is in a rolling state. Is that a core issue I need to log with DTG support or something you can fix/influence from your side?
You presume too much. All idiots, huh?! I'm no train specialist, but as a former system designer in the automotive industry I had my share on understanding ABS and SRS brake dynamics. I bloody know that speeding 2ktons won't "stop on a dime". If we follow your logic, all the comparable freight trains - the german 2400ton coal freighters or even the 14kton american freight monsters as examples in the sim - are unrealistically over braked, right?! Nahhh, I don't think so. And as people have pointed out, there WERE acknowledged brake issues with these tankers. As it seems weight adaptive brake force wasn't working. They were braking like empty wagons.
Well if they were braking like empty wagons they would stop rather quickly and people commenting above wouldn’t be running red signals. Don’t yku mean the opposite
If an adaptive brake force valve allows only brake forces as if the wagon was empty - minimum brake force to avoid wheel blocking when empty i.e. - , you end up with that horrible brake behavior we've just seen on the Vol. 1 tankers before the fix. So, minimum brake force tries to brake a fully loaded wagon ...........
