I was looking at train motion, and they seem to focus mainly on Romanian trains, with a little bit of German, Polish, and Czech. It will be interesting to see what they bring.

Just because dtg see things doesn't mean they can make it if they don't have a license. And can't just show up and be like let me borrow your trains. It's much harder than that

I've saw that in the Semmeringbhann they had publicizing the Taurus, but that's isn't the same used for other route? Or is another new one?

Finally had time to watch the stream and read the roadmap. Thoughts below:
    • The Japanese route sure is a cool surprise, and there might be lots of scenic variety judging by a quick look on Apple Maps.
    • The new US route was kind of expected since Matt teased plans for the Baby Bullet loco last year. It kind of seems like a mix between Antelope and Peninsula Corridor… with lots of reused assets (loco, the two endpoints). Not sure if this will sell particularly well considered the fact that the last US route is from exactly the same area and the lack of “wow” factor. Maybe the scenery is surprisingly good, but the enthusiasm in the community regarding this DLC seems to be non-existent.
      • We also have to consider how the lack of licensor approval for the other new US route that was supposed to come out right about now (trophies were leaked, which only happens a few weeks before release) completely messed up DTG’s US plans. I’m sure having two very similar Californian routes in a row is far from ideal for them as well.
    • Rosenheim-Salzburg looks great as expected. Looking forward to the scenery (especially around the Chiemsee lake, it has to be top notch!) and the layers. The 111 is sometimes used on my nearby local line (Donau Isar Express), so that will be interesting as well.
    • Thankfully they did the logical thing and add the Austrian version of the BR 182 with the Semmeringbahn. The very curvy section in the middle will be very interesting to traverse with these big express trains, I reckon! Hopefully the scenery is memorable, or this will just be an Austrian (and worse) Tharandter Rampe. But I’m optimistic!
      • Wondering about the German/Austrian loco that was on the roadmap a while back and eventually got removed. Maybe the Semmeringbahn rolling stock was supposed to be separate ant first and they decided to give it its own route?
    • The new Scottish Rivet route looks great. We kinda knew they were “straying” in Scotland because of a few teases in the last few months. Getting to cross that big bridge will be great. I’m hoping we’ll have great scenery and very cool service patterns considering the unique circular layout of the route. The bigger windows of the Class 170 will be a nice change compared to the rather cramped 385.
      • If they want us to pay for the 158 again, I’m hoping they look at SimTrack’s 323 DLC. A repaint with a few model changes and new scenarios for like 5 bucks. Anything over 10 bucks is getting close to the price we had to pay for completely new loco DLCs back in the TSW2 days and would probably cause community outrage.
    • The London Overground route looks amazing, but I’m wondering about replay-ability because it is so short. Patience might be key here because they could repurpose the loco and many of the station assets for a much larger route in the near future.
    • We don’t know much about the Peak Forest Class 104 yet, but it’s been a while since we got a train like that and I really enjoy the Class 101, so I’m hoping it’s gonna be good!
    • I’m not a freight guy, so don’t really have an opinion on the Skyhook aggregates pack… except it’s very overpriced. They should have combined both cargo line DLCs and sold them together for about 10 bucks, that would’ve been fairer. I guess they lost a lot of money with the prolonged work on MML after release and now have to make profit with lots of overpriced small packs (Cargo Line 1 & 2, ScotRail Class 158).
I think that’s everything? Wow that was a lot! I do want to note that the TSW3 announcements we got in early 2023 (one year ago) seemed to be more surprising and created more enthusiasm in the community. Nonetheless, there’s lots of potential here. Let’s hope the finished products are great!

From Rapid Transit to today we have collected about 3 or 4 Taurus model BR182/OBB1016 (EU64 U2). I think it would have been nice if instead of another copy (this time OBB) of 1016 towing the new Austrian Intercity (and freight) you had introduced the other Taurus (the one with 4 doors and the central headlight positioned high), the OBB 1216 (EU64 U4)?

I don't imagine Run8 is great for Metrolink operations...

The Japanese route is an interesting choice. The game is called Train Sim World after all.
The new Metrolink: LA-San Bernardino route is interesting, too. Hopefully the new route includes a new BNSF diesel (preferably an ET44C4, C44-9W, B40-8W, GP60/M/B, GP50, or GP39-3).

Good to see the Semmeringbahn, even though it's short, I like that route in TSC.But does it come with freight?

And regarding the Japanese route, since I haven't played TSW since the second one, does the game now have "asian" character models? Asking for an obvious reason. ;)

I'm really happy for the LO and Fife Circle routes. And it's a lot nicer seeing the Fife Circle in the 0-3 months section. MY PREDICTIONS for both routes release dates are; LO - March 12th, Fife Circle - 9th May. My reason for the LO prediction is because of in the preview video they said audio is still needing to be done and I suppose they need time for them and their beta testers to test it and also finalise some features. My reason for the Fife Circle is because it's only just moved into the maximum 3 month gap so having a guess they still have quite a lot to do on the route and 170 for release. This will allow so much time to hopefully bring them to standards. Once again I want to stress that I'm having a bit of fun and a guessing game of predicting the release dates because why not! :) (But I feel like I'm gonna be way off for both of my predictions hehe)

The Semmeringbahn almost made me very happy- but what's with the rolling stock cheeseparing? What accountant decided DTG could save £7.53 by not facelifting the Amz along with the Bmz? This is almost as bad as the 101 coming out with no cab car

Run 8 is great, but sadly this is true. There are no Metrolink assets in the game, even the stations at Lancaster, Palmdale and the short section of Soledad Canyon are labelled for Amtrak. You cannot do timetable operations let alone have any sort of complex turnaround workings etc.

noticed this in update notes for February 8th patch:
    - Added player assist notification to alert what systems need to be turned on to award the safety system bonus - how do I turn this assist on? I mean, I generally know what to turn on, but I like to be sure, just in case :)

So far there have been no passengers shown on screenshots from the WIP route. The player character models will probably stay the same, unless TSW5 will add additional set of character faces to choose from when creating a new profile, and new set of NPCs and outfits will likely need to be modeled for the route / region (the best with some minor 1-5% probability of the existing western character spawning there, too).

It's nice to finally be excited for TSW again with some very interesting routes/rolling stock. Rosenheim-Salzburg and Semmeringbahn are the highlights for me, however Goblin and Fife Circle do interest me but as long as the timetables are up to scratch, namely being busy (both playable and AI traffic), varied and provide long-term gameplay. Also excited to see Japan finally come to TSW!

Overall, pleasantly surprised with this month's roadmap and long may this positive trend continue.

Disappointing to see freight on the Goblin Line relegated to 'free roam' when in reality there are 4 passenger and 4 freight moves per hour. All the freight should be timetabled to fit in between the passenger runs, are we even getting the full amount of AI or will we only meet passenger trains coming the other way?

    Dtg's Roadmap article states:

"With timetable layers and free roam, explore the route with heavy freight trains, steam specials and more!"

As such id believe you are getting freight moves and steam railtours within the timetable mode. Expect another copy of the EWS liveried 66 though...

They didn't mention pricing or dates or anything. Think it's going to be standard route price already seen in tsw like with blackpool and tsw3 dlc

It's just to say something but, what's the goblin line have to offer?
I mean, it's a 13 mile route with 13 station so you're always stopped there...
I don't know anything about this line and for now I'm interested only to the Semmeringbhann and the Rosenheim branch but, never says never!

Remember when roadmap had fixes on it? Pepperidge farm remembers.

But really - it speaks volumes when the roadmap is just "look at all the shiny new content" and no care about evergrowing list of problems.

Thanks, guess I misread it, pitchfork put back in the shed.

Speaking of sheds, in real life I believe it's 66s from DB Cargo, GB Railfreight and Freightliner, I would be happy if any of those liveries put in an appearance.

No, I don't mean individual fixes, I get that (though I can't really see them moving fast anyway), but there's no patching of anything, no functionality upgrades, no larger problem being addressed, nothing, ONLY content.

    Yeah Freightliner won’t happen.

The 66 issue bothers me because yes it’s all we get, but there are so many of them duplicated now. That’s what needs addressing. We can’t be far off hitting 20 66’s.

As for the timetable, they have gone bold with the marketing so it better be more than just the basic 15 min 710 frequency.

There are loads of 66 variants they could add with the licences DTG have (not to mention repaints of other freight locos like the 37).

I thought this, but other than the zero injuries branding, the real loco doesn't have any Freightliner logos on it either.

I believe irl the route sees DB Cargo (EWS and red variants), Freightliner, GBRf and DRS (Daventry to Purfleet Tesco train). It would be good to see the DRS 66 from engineering express later in on Tesco trains (albeit without Tesco containers) and the One 66 on containers too.

Well it would be strange to see the Freightliner logos on it when the real thing doesn't have them wouldn't it? And perhaps the interior cab is just laziness from Rivett as it still has EWS (they could have just removed the logo)

The point is that the ONE livery wouldn't have required a Freightliner license.

Question: why is Skyhook Games making a Class 158 for the Fife Circle Line when we already have one on the Midland Mainline? Surely it just needs a re skin right?

There are interior (mainly cab) and exterior (different skirts) differences. Also the 158 will need its own timetable as it won’t be able to sub into the 170 services, due to the difference in consist.

Also, Rivet aren’t including it in their own scope, so it’s likely they never planned for the 158. Skyhook may have taken the initiative here.

I think it just about crosses the threshold for being a separate pack.

No mention of the Oakville update that was being worked on last year. I wonder if they hit a road block with it and gave up. I was looking forward to an update for that route.

It would have. The "Zero Injuries - Our Goal Every Day" logo is Freightliners, and Freightliner would need to give permission for whomever to use that little sticker/logo, so even though their name isn't on the logo, it's still theirs, and you could get copyright striked for using it.
