TSW doesnt support verschub/hump yard.... This function is not possible... Trains are always coupled....

and as we know, DTG hasnt introduced real hump yard physics to the game yet, like if you uncouple loco-less wagons, after a bit they just stop... and as we know, gravity is the chief in hump yards...

also, you dont really have a functioning interface for hump yard shenanigans - like trackside brakes, complex switches and such :)

I mean, it would be fun for sure, just the game doesnt have mechanics for that, yet

Correct even if the train is capble you missed the infrastructure to use the junctions etc.....

You are correct and that also affects the other major yards in Austria Vienna Kledering and Linz for the same reason. The lack of hump physics. I Wonder why a 1163 can operate a hump but not the 1063 which is also used in Salzburg area.

OK then. I just wish the get this in game by having ÖBB Infra bring them to Salzburg Gnigl or Innsbruck Hall in Tirol Vbf where it's used. That way we end up getting Gnigl RRO RSN Hagen Vorhalle Nahverkehr Dresden Dresden Friedrichstadt since those yards operate like Salzburg Gnigl. In the case of Vbf Salzburg Gnigl electric loco is used 1163 or diesel 2070

also if you wanted to operate the switches at rate as is necessary IRL, you would need a better interface than just route map, since you also have to operate trackside braking mechanisms :)

In a real hump yard, this happens automatically. So you'd need a simulated system that scans the wagons and knows where to put them.

You'd need a car tagging system like Run8 offers.

depends - as far as I know, in Kledering you got operating tower with a guy who has a computer and does things on screen and such, not full auto :) but I might be wrong

At least it will resemble something like Rangierbahnhof Hamburg Maschen which is located on the Hanover to Hamburg Railway line.
If it has the big red button it will stop the following locomotives 1064 2070.
Salzburg Gnigl the control tower is on the other side of the S-Bahn Salzburg Gnigl stop

Shame it´s set in the past ... Vectron would be a perfect fit for freight on this route.

  16. Too many people have died from these free style operations in the 50s, 60s and 70s and that is why hump shunting ended. Too many fatalities.

I doubt DTG will approve of this.

The still-called "Hump Yard" at Cumberland (SPG) was in fact graded flat several years ago.

well, from what I have seen at Kledering, they do it pretty safe - in the past in the tower it was really like many switches, now it is mostly computer and touch screen I believe, with ppl down below making sure everything goes well :)

I watched this video to get a pretty rough idea of what the route will be like and I have to be honest it looks pretty boring to me, nothing really of note having skimmed through it a bit, though it does give us a pretty good indication of what types of layers to expect like the Talent 1 and the BR 628. Just seems like a random choice of route to me.

Hump yards haven't "ended" in Europe. They've been mechanized and automated to make them safer.

I just watched a video from some US yard and yeah, e.g. it didnt have much in the way of trackside braking mechanisms for example (while yards like Wien-Kledering have tons of em)... so yeah :) ... hump yards are still effective, since you are saving on loco power :) ... while still having badass shunters like this one:

The power saving is there, sure, but the more important advantage of a hump yard is that it's much faster to just shove a train over the hump once instead of having to go back and forth between a yard lead and individual tracks a whole bunch of times.

Anyways, I don't think we really need working hump yards in TSW, given that the actual train driving involved with them is just pushing wagons over a small hill at walking speed -- and even that's only if the loco isn't remote controlled by a computer. Not exactly riveting gameplay.

I hope that it will not be as bent as the maintal train and that it may be easier to change the driver's cab as with the 112/143....

The way that 1064 plays is that you have the power of an ÖBB Baureihe 1016/1116/1293 with the couplers of DB BR363. In Salzburg Gnigl this 1163 is used
    [IMG]
The way 1163 plays in-game is that you got the power of an ÖBB 1016/1116/1293 with the gameplay of non-auto coupler equipped shunter like the DR BR110-112 DB BR204 V100 OST or UK Class 08 Gronk

Finally an update to Falns and Laaers? I don't remember seeing them with colorful cars, used to be all-white on RSN/MSB :)

Pretty sure I've seen colourful cars at least once before, but I have no idea which DLC introduced them.

Also you can see a red loco there. And i think it looks like the "Railion" 185.2 to me. Possibly a layer. Maybe it comes with the route as freight loco?

It's likely the 185.2 that comes with Vorarlberg, and hence every TSW4 is assumed to have it.

Good catch with the Falns. They're some of my favourite freight cars in real life and TSW's are in desperate need of an overhaul. Not getting excited yet though as no freight loco has been announced, so it may just be an RSN layer.

The colourful cars were introduced with Kassel-Würzburg and already exist for example in Bremen-Oldenburg; but the Falns are awesome! And I think we will also get new container wagons- at least did they look grey instead of brown this time :D
But what really bothers me again: We will get the same livery for the 185 again… Please DTG bring the livery from Ruhr Sieg Nord to the game again, that one was amazing with the blurred out Railion logo! And we already have the Railion version three times now :/

That's a good catch as well, although I am not sure why (unless it's just the usual issue with washed out colors), it looks to be the same type and even same provider (CZ-CDC). They already have all the modern functionality, so there is no real reason to update them.

Should we get the Ebula in this route for the first time? This route is a route with a lot of different driving speeds so it will works good here... Lukas talked about this a few months ago in an earlier stream.....

I'd be over the moon with this, but suspect the chances are slim! Zusi 3 Hobby has it.. Even the new Train Planet (from Unity Games) that Trainsimullatordriver Paul has recently reviewed has it. Can we, please?:D

ZUSI is nearly a train driver training thing, well, as close as you can get to an actual training program without being in it :D ... I mean, an Ebula would mean you could almost completely turn off any assistance and HUD :) (although, I kinda like the safety system reminders, if I forget sth or dont concentrate momentarily :D )

I'm pretty disappointed that there isn't a ÖBB railjet, but I guess I will just make my own Railjet then.
Else than that, pretty good route.

I am hoping for either a DLC (cos it would fit here, as well as Vorarlberg and future Austrian routes), or it being included in some sort of future bombshell DLC of kickass length so we can indulge in highspeed madness with some slower bits as well :)

Exactly, I just was surprised because the Railjet is such a staple train of the ÖBB. I remember when I was very small, I was awestruck by a Railjet that was staying at Zürich Hauptbahnhof. Now that I have a rail sim, I'd love to drive it!

it's actually THE flagship product of OBB along with NightJet (new gen of both looks even better and is getting glowing reviews by train reviewers)... they decided to do such thing in a push-pull form, even though the next delivery of Stadler Kiss 200 trains will become kinda InterCity RailJet, for services that have more stops and thus require better acceleration and rapid braking :) (I believe they ordered 21 sets, plus a couple more for CAT)

I'm so excited for this route - definitely the most I'm looking forward too, although Semmeringbahn sounds very interesting as well.

I just really hope the OBB 1116 from Semmeringbahn will also feature in the timetables eventually for Rosenheim-Salzburg and Vorarlberg so we can have some Austrian long-distance services represented.

The München-Salzburg-Express actually only used low-entry Dostos (and n-Wagen), so I'm afraid we're once again not getting anything new in that regard.

We most certainly have more than enough, but unfortunately it's accurate in this case. We could've had some high-entry ones way back with Hamburg - Lübeck, but we all know how that went. If there's gonna be more Dostos (which there inevitably will be), I really hope we at least get a 3rd gen Dosto cab car at some point to spice things up. Would fit perfectly with a BR 111 (or BR 218) as well.

High floor dostos still use the same low floor cab car, so it would not change anything on the actual driving experience.

That's also what DTG said back then, that they know they have wrong middle cars there, but that it's simply not worth it to invest dev time into completely different model with new interior, when it's a middle car and hence basically purely visual.
