Do think it's time to end the bad on southern based Routes as tsw is getting dangerous close to how tsc was before swt licensing came in for Portsmouth direct (upgraded version) on the southern regions. There are more trains then Electrostars in the south.
The southern region in game has been focused heavily in the current time so a route set during the BR Blue time frame or Steam to match the Northern routes and western.
To keep people happy that prefer Northern routes a release cycle of 1 southern routes, then one Northern route then 1 western route that will keep everyone happy. Loco dlc can be done the same way for the British dlc. For Europe and America and other countries they can slot in between, like 1 USA and 1 EU route to keep the versatile up for tsw.
Southern routes I think would be nice to see in tsw
    Portsmouth direct in 1900s
Southampton to Bournemouth in the current time
Isle of wight in the 1950 before the lines started to close down
Isle of wight steam railway (heritage line)
    Blue Bell railway
London charing Cross to Tonbridge in the 1900 or current time

Kind of stupid such a ban existed in the first place, given the number of eras these routes could have been set it.

It's far that they wanted to get some northern routes in but now there's lots and more coming. Southern and western are missing out

Southern region routes are getting suggested very frequently in the forms. Even during the festival of rail streams British Ace brought up that he would like more southern routes mainly something for the 377

Yes but set in a different period. For example south western out of Waterloo put back in the REP/TC/CIG/VEP/EPB/SUB era, not that we would get all of that in one pack. Could also do with some Thumper action, Portsmouth or Southampton across to Salisbury and Westbury or the Oxted Lines. South doesn't have to be third rail.

That's the problem I think. Most routes in the south modern day are 3rd rail Electrostar routes.

A southern route in a different era would be better.

This seems really stupid and useless
I would prefer more modern-day routes
There are way to many old routes

Would like to see a SR route set in the 1980s-1990s with stock in Network SouthEast colours. As said before, plenty of different stock could be made and used, mostly Mk1 based slam door stock. The 4VEP would be a good candidate considering that there is a preserved one under restoration that DTG could try to gain access to for references, sounds, etc.

Just because you don't like certain content doesn't make other peoples' opinions "stupid and useless", it just means they have differing tastes than you. It's fine to feel negatively towards something, but you don't need to be so harsh.

Also, I'm not so sure where you got your stat on too many old routes... out of 94 DLC, I count 9 routes that are based prior to the 00's, 10 if you count WSR. That's roughly 10% of content ever produced for TSW, hardly a majority.

I need a commuter route for the 377 which could also introduce the 455/8 and the 377/6 /7. Something like London-Caterham, Tattenham Corner, Horsham via Dorking, Epsom Downs and Victoria. Big up the north you got what you wanted but at what cost???

Hell, I'd vote for an 80s 3rd rail route.
I just find the current Electrostars dull.

Personally, I think Electrostars have gotten enough representation in TSW. I'm not opposed to more Southern region routes if they come in a different era though, some slam door stock would definitely be an improvement. I always thought it a shame that Brighton Mainline didn't go for a historical era, back when more interesting stock ran along it.

Easy to forget some of these whippersnappers (! :) ) probably haven't got a clue what a 4REP, 4TC or Thumper unit were. :)

I know they are more interesting to drive than an Electrostar, does that count?

Why I posted tongue in cheek.

And I should really take the Kings Landing walk of shame, as I'm currently barrelling north along the ECML from Peterborough to Doncaster with the Azuma!!

If a route was set in 2000 class 375 can layer on to the route for a sub in, a lass 377 could layer one route in 2003 asa sub in aswell as that is when they both entered service.

Even if a route is set in the current time say Portsmouth direct line the class 444 and class 450s would be the main unit's the class 377 would layer on it for the line from Brighton along side the 313.

I'd say that's the best possible thing for a new Southern route...set it in the mid 00's when you had a vast array of old traction as well as the Electrostars...everybody wins! And technically still 'modern' :)
