Hopefully the create the Elizabeth line. It is a revolutionary network for the price that customers have to pay
I hope that they have created a small project in the Goblin Line so that it allows them more time to make a major London route which would be extensive. Does anyone have any idea of when it will be released?
More info will be in the february event. Similar to last year during festival of real where the acela and future content was revealed
Can you expand on what happens in February for TSW because I am unsure. I have played every Train sim world game and I have not idea what occurs in TSW.
There is a week long event called festival of rail where ambassadors and developers play different routes and at the summit or the final day, they reserve a section to announce future content which was prerecorded.
Thanks very much for your help. I appreciate it. Considering I played every TSW I am surprised that the name came as a shock to me.
I'm quite late to this response but better late than never but in the Aventra's I'm 99% sure announcements can be turned on and off within the cab depending if the driver wants to hear them or not. Which this feature can be toggled via the screen below the DOO monitors. But a response to this overall post about announcements, I would love for this route to have auto announcements, would bring more life to it and more realism. Rivet have shown that auto announcements are possible through their most recent Bernina Line and JT obviously showed a very simple version on the BPO route. One thing that I personally would prefer though.. if they do think to add any sort of announcements, it has to be Emma Hignett and Emma Hignett only since if it was anyone else doing them it would feel wrong and throw me off.
Yeah on the Pacer, if you click the phone on the left there’s an announcement as if the driver is making it. It’s pretty cool.
If that's so, then yeah I'd agree that announcement should be and should've been a feature from the beginning. It's not going to be such a massive hill to climb as AI voice programs are now a thing.
TVL? For me there's no substitution on this route (I'm on PC), i think 142:s could be used on 2-car 101 services, DTG need to implemet it ASAP.
Hoping the “Officially licensed TFL” route means they can use the announcements. Could be way off but I don’t remember seeing the officially licensed tag on any other route launch.
Tbh I don’t think it will, who at DTG would be willing to record announcements besides the people like JD, Matt & Alex etc who have microphones? Is there even a recording setup in the office? I also think them getting the official announcements being in-game is unlikely. Would love to be proven wrong though.
None of that stopped Rivet and JT doing it. DTG have absolutely zero excuse at this point. Unofficial announcements are better than none at all.
1000% agree- just borrow whatever tech Rivet/JT are using. I don't care if it's the "real" voices or not.
For most British lines, they could just repeat "See it, say it, sorted" on an endless loop and it would be pretty close to real life.
Ukončete prosím výstup a nástup, dveře se zavírají (Please finish boarding and leaving the train, the doors are about to close)... this is still played in Prague Metro... and also burned into my brain from childhood trips there lol
Not sure if you guys experienced anything similar but I took SWR to and from exeter and as soon as we got to clapham junction bound for waterloo thats when they started
They are still working on design and implementation and they do hope to get it in to routes at some stage. Just not ready yet.
Disappointing, totally understandable wanting to design a better way of doing it, but can’t understand why they couldn’t mirror the 3rd parties way of doing it in the interim
Based on what was said on stream, Dovetail are trying to build a more sustainable and permanent way of bringing it into the core rather than what JT/Rivet have done - which is create the system from scratch for each route. JT nailed theirs, seemingly, but for all we know it could be tied to the Pacer and unable to be used permanently. Also, if they are looking towards adding Platform Announcements as Matt said, then I imagine they'll be looking more towards liking the timetable to announcements than they are the player's path.
Bahaha, how many times have they given that line out. These things that are designed to ‘go into the core’ end up missing after a couple of routes, or they just stop working. Add this to the suspension that JT beat them to & it’s getting quite silly that everyone else is beating them to these things.
The suspension system on the jt one was probably one that dtg had finished developing. I think it's one of the simple ones. But it's not everything. There's a lot more different types of suspension like with multiple axles. They also mentioned that they have to make careful physics adjustments to prevent rolling stock from getting sent into space. It's not a case of oh it bounces and ship it off. Much more complicated
No announcements? No purchase from me. Simple as that. You hear these announcements near constantly on Overground trains, so the absence of even an unofficial one is a deal breaker. JT and Rivet went to the effort to make them for routes that didn't even really need them it, so there's absolutely no excuse. I know they said they want to create a new system for it, but you'll forgive me for being skeptical given DTG's past record when it comes to these sorts of things. I'm sure they'll eventually design such a system... In about two years when they can't be bothered to implement it into this add on, and indeed others that really need it like Bakerloo line and the Class 700. Who wants to bet it'll be a main selling point for TSW5? One that will only work on TSW5 routes at that?
I agree with you. Despite the criticisms that Rivet receive by myself and others, I will give them credit for trying new things such as announcements. This game has been out for a long time, and the fact that DTG still do not have proper announcements when Rivet were able to get in on two of their previous routes along with Just Trains who were able to do it on their first go is frankly unacceptable. They may not have been perfect, but at least they implemented them. I'm not even sure if DTG will even live up to what they said on stream about announcements given their past. I wouldn't be suprised if they try to make it a selling point for tsw5
Yeah I do not trust Rivet because they continue to release content that has pretty significant errors. But they do try to do things that are different, they just fall down because I think they try to do too much. DTG should be the ones doing the bespoke trial systems, refining and continuing to improve them, not leaving it to third parties. It seems they’re too interested in making excuses though. To me it comes across as DTG wanting to limit development time as much as possible, every release being purely a financial exercise, all their passion these days seems to come from their employees working on their own time. Third Parties on the other hand are showing real interest in the future of TSW & fleshing out the parts that have been neglected.
Unsure whether or not I'll purchase this at the mo....just not convinced if it'll keep my attention for more than a week. I just feel we need a new feature to enhance the routes playability factor, such as ....AI delays (leading to random adverse signalling), random occasional temp speed restrictions ( I guess this would cause the same timetable issues as AI delays would), even something as simple as seeing random wildlife crossing the tracks (deer/birds etc). You never know though, there might be a new feature that they are keeping under wraps...
They already explained why. They don't want to make in individualized to each loco or dlc. They want something core so it can work everywhere without having a situation where one route has it but another doesn't. I guess it allows it to be a plugin and it automatically reads the timetable. It works for 3rd parties since they are working on 1 project at a time and it's specific to a single loco
So you'd rather they worked announcements for each individual train rather than having a core system that would be easier to work with?
As mentioned by someone else countless times (as well as by DTG themselves), they're working on developing a core system.
London Overground announcements are unique and sound nothing like National Rail announcements to be fair, so a one size fits all won’t really work authentically, though better than nothing.
Tbh when driving in real life it’s not really something you hear from the cab especially on modern day units thanks to cab layouts and materials used to make trains. Personally for me if there are no announcements it’s not really a game changer as when I am driving I can’t hear them and don’t listen out for them.
It’s not something you’ve heard in the cab of a train you’ve driven, on board & exterior announcements are audible from other cabs. The 710 is one of those.
I dont drive the 710 fleet so can’t comment on the ambiance noise from the cab I am talking about trains I am driving irl. How long have you been driving them irl for.
Guessing that's 390s that you drive? Per your username. WCML south could be a cool route for TSW I suppose - after ECML York to Newcastle and the Class 91 of course...
Sadly it’s not 390s I drive although I wish it was lol. I agree though WCML south would be really good. I doubt we woukd have it like TSC or Birmingham - Euston I don’t think the sim would handle that. But even something like rugby - Euston would be good and having the 350 would be good
