Anyone else get that feeling? It would be kinda cool but at the same time a bit bland.. Nothing but coal movements. They'd re-use coal cars and engines, with maybe one new engine in NS livery.
    Thoughts?

You might be thinking of TS2019 here. Also, what makes you say NS is nothing but coal movements?

I am kinda thinking of the old game. I played that route a lot. It makes sense because they dont have to come up with too much new content other than an engine and a route. And they have a license for them.

It could also be UP (I hope), as they have licenses for their stuff too. It probably won't be BNSF, as the big orange has been having licensing issues with most simulators.

For all we know, they could also be doing a CN, CP, or KCS route.

Also, NS runs a lot of other traffic, not just coal. I'm near their line out of their Decatur yard, and absolutely everything comes through on a regular basis, even the Roadrailers.

By "that route" do you mean NS coal district? There's a difference between expecting NS to happen and expecting a very specific route to happen.

I guess I am thinking of the coal district. Anytime I see NS its coal I didnt know what else they did. I'm in Alaska so.... Lol. I don't see too much. (I wish they did AKRR) with passenger.. Fairbanks to anchorage would be nice.

Yet more mindless speculation, but it does seem to keep some folks busy, so gossip away.

No. God no. Please just no. If we get another short New York route I'll literally delete the game.

Exactly. And DTG makes me sad. You know, I really don't see why that new NS route for TS19 couldn't have been made for TSW instead. It's short enough. Originally I thought it would be shorter branchline and switching routes for TSW and longer routes for TS19, but now they're even making TS19 routes short. But yeah, another short New York route would really suck.

Norfolk Southern carries more than just coal... you guys know that, right?

Besides... are we really going to start hating on DTG for a route we just came up with out of nowhere and have no evidence or reason to think they're actually making, other than "well they suck so they can only make bad routes, how's this for a bad idea?"

I'm under the thought that the next US route will be a West Coast route, and not a NS or CSX route. We've seen so much East Coast/NYC content that I'm under the impression whatever is next in the pipeline is probably vastly different than what we currently have. I could be wrong, but I'm very much thinking it could be something in the Rockies or west of that. I'd expect a mix of freight and passenger services too, not a fully-freight route

And you know it must be bad if the person with the M7 avatar doesn't want a New York route.

CP, CN, and UP need to be made. I like the Alaska RR idea, but it was already done for TS2019. I'd like to suggest the White Pass and Yukon route instead. What I really want to see is BNSF or Santa Fe.

They butchered the alaska route horribly. No passenger and the s*** end of the line. Anchorage to Seward is a joke.

On further thought, the one other place that could be acceptable is a Florida based route, similar to Miami-WPB. Even still though, it's a stretch and I would rather see something more west. Some sort of multi-level Amtrak would be nice, either Surfliner or Superliner cars. I mean heck, if this was even a $40 for a larger variety of content I'd be all aboard for it.

More than anything else though, I would like to see a good freight/passenger route that is not NY based, and really East-Coast based, which rules out CSX and NS

You know what would be interesting? The OTHER Miami- West Palm Beach route. The main problem with that is that there's only 3 stations on that one, and FEC may be hard to get a license for, so overall the other one is more likely, but still, it would be different.

Please, for the love of a non-existent God, don't let their next U.S. Update be an extension of the NEC...unless it's a MASSIVE addition. I'd prefer to see something freight-related on the West Coast, in my opinion.

I was with you until you said "no more CSX". This is just my personal bias, but I LOVE American freight.
I'm not being an asshole, I swear, but might I ask as to why you're so against a possible CSX extension?

The next US DLC seems to be a loco DLC for NEC: [IMG]

Seriously though, odd choice... guess they don't have many other options though.

I just hope this DLC fills up the empty yards on the route, kind of like on TVL, it would add a lot to the immersion in my opinion

I got a feeling that it might be it or they might add the NJ transit route because Newark Station run the same line as the Amtrak

Does anyone get the feeling that DTG are struggling to acquire the rights to routes they want/would like to produce, thus they’re bringing out DLC locos to existing routes to give themselves more time.

With the UK routes, for example, we started off with GWR which was an excellent route, then we had WSR with the British Rail Class 09 & 47. Move on to Northern Trans-Pennie where we were given the British Rail Class 45,47 (again) & 101. The newest UK route was Tees valley Line where we were given the BR Class 08, 37 & 101 (again).

Don’t get me wrong, DTG adding dlc to existing routes is fine but “variety is the spice of life” and at the moment we’re getting much of the same imo and it’s slowly turning me off the game.

I’d love to know what the next UK route is because if it is an “old” route set around similar times to NTP & TVL then I think they’ve answered my question. I really hope I’m proven wrong and we’ll see a modern UK route. Time will tell I guess.

What do you think? Is it a licencing issue and they’re struggling to acquire the rights to modern locos or is there more to it?
