I just changed the way I play a bit so I was wondering what sort of setups other people use and why. I am a console player so since I got the game I was playing it on my 55" 4K TV. Sometimes on the couch, but more often in an Ikea arm chair in front of the TV (especially on routes where you need to pay attention like German ones). Recently I bought a 27 inch 1440p gaming monitor and put my Series X into a game desk setup with keyboard and mouse (I still use controller for TSW though). This is more of a "PC" type setup where I am in an ergonomic office chair and right at the desk. It has taken some getting used to since it has been years since I did PC gaming but overall I like it quite a bit for TSW and other simulator type games. I still have my PS5 on the big TV and I have TSW on that too but I find I am playing more on the monitor now, along with most FPS games. More laid back stuff like RPGs I play on TV.
I play on console, lay down on my bed and play that way, with a keyboard plugged in for whenever I need it.
High- ish end PC, 32inch 4k monitor, Raildriver with mouse and keyboard. Can't imagine playing in any kind of " reclining " position, though it does sound relaxing.
Xbox series X and keyboard, with a 65inch 4k TV on the desk Infront of me, sitting in a reclining executive office chair, the classy way to game lol.....
PS5 with a full keyboard attached (for the extra shortcuts) and a big (but not daft big) 4K TV and sometimes a cat sat next to me on the sofa. Curtains shut to keep light reflections off the screen.
I used to have the cat sitting with me, but she had a habit of walking on the keyboard and " chasing " the mouse, so now banned from the room.
I play TSW and TSC on my computer. Using keyboard and mouse. I have a 28” curved monitor 144hz I also have a ps5 and Xbox S and Nintendo switch on the same (large desk) set up but can cast onto the 55” tv as well if needs be
PS5 - 65 inch 4K TV and a lazyboy type recliner, I'm sat at my desk all day for work so need to relax when gaming.
TSW runs on a 34 inch ultra wide screen (only 2560x1080 but still quite immersive), to the side I have a Surface Book in tablet-with-kickstand configuration that shows the Buchfahrplan for the current route. Controls via mouse, keyboard and a dial to scroll the Buchfahrplan.
Ikea Poäng chair Basic Dell G5 Gaming PC i5 9400, 24Gb RAM, Geforce GTX 1650 4Gb Dell KB216 Keyboard Dell MS116 Mouse The superb £120 AOC 24" G2 monitor. HD, IPS, 144Hz (I prefer small monitors for the higher resolution) I would like to buy some kind of controller. Not that using a keyboard and mouse presents any difficulty.
24" Full HD BenQ... keyboard and mouse... wish I could have a bigger one, but that will probably come only when I buy a new machine... and live at a place where I can actually fit a bigger screen on my table
Permanent setup in spare bedroom consisting of ps5, 55inch samsung 4k mini led 240htz gaming TV with yamaha 5.1 soundbar and racing gaming chair
I am also thinking of getting a console, but: 1) not sure how long is the current gen gonna last 2) the fact that I would have to get those DLCs all over again (spent a LOT of money on this over the years, as I bet many had)
I used my Surface Go for this, but it's broken so I'm using my phone, the downgrade was insane. Funny how our setups are (or were) so similar though
Laptop w/1080p screen or Series X on the big Samsung OLED TV. Xbox controller all the way- got that muscle memory down lol (Except to turn safety systems on keyboard for that)
Some cheap flat screen TV I found, it does 1080p 60 fps maximum but then again, I can't afford anything else so I can't complain. Then I got my Xbox Series X which has a controller, Keyboard and mouse hooked up to It. Good lord the MnK helps alot
My PC (really dont know the specs, its now a few years old, but gets along with TSW on high -ultra settings, once it decides to boot up.. I also play it on my Steam Deck
Yeah it really is. Im yet to take it on a train on a TSW Route, but when i get the opportunity ill certainly do it and see how it compares. It also runs okay with lower graphic settings and you dont notice it that much due to the smaller screen. So something like assets popping in late isnt that much of a Problem there I got a relatively cheap and barely used 64GB one from eBay, put a 512gb Mirco SD in an now i can play TSW, Hitman, Forza 4 and a Ton of other games a fraction their size on the go. Im really pleased with the purchase.
it would be a fun challenge, trying to play it on ACTUAL IRL service, see who gets to the finish first lol
PS5 in the bedroom, connected to 65" 4K Samsung QLED 120hz. The variable refresh rate does help keep the game smooth. Plonk myself on the bed and relax for the rare few hours that become free a week
Permanent setup in my home office, which was originally the spare bedroom. With a custom built gaming PC (specs in my signature) for both TSC and TSW. And always play both with Raildriver.
Xbox Series X on a Bush 50 inch smart 4K TV, currently sitting on an ottoman leaning against the dining table in the sitting room as the other tv stand is too small for it. I paid about £340 for the TV from Argos, I use an executive office chair as my seat, though have a habit of sitting on the laminated flooring a lot. Plans to move house so it will move to my bedroom on the wall above the desk. (I bought the same TV before for about £309 and about 3 months into it I was lazy to go and get my controller so i gave its charging lead a swing pull instead and the controller came flying and broke the screen so the current is the second one) (i effectively paid about £100 a month to rent the tv because of that moment of laziness )
Has anyone upgraded from HD to 4K Monitor? If so, do you notice any real difference? Trying to work out if it is worth doing. Thanks
