Hi, maybe one for someone from DTG (DTG Matt) or a 3rd party dev?

Is it possible to force an electric train to run on the fake OHLE that was put on Great Western Express? I thought you could set the Initial Propulsion Mode in the Formation details of the timetable to Is Set and Self Propelled to force it to go, which for a while was simulating correctly but now I'm getting a compile error as it specifically wants the track electrification properties to be correct.

    Thanks in advance.

There is a tick box somewhere i think on the main timetable settings, where you can turn off "check electrification" for the entire timetable. You can also, i think in the same place, make the entire timetable "off the rails" too which will cure all kinds of problems like this (albeit with a big hammer :) )

Interesting, thanks Matt. I'll check again but I don't recall seeing anything like that except for what I showed in the screenshot above.

    Updated 17/02/2024:

I found how to get the timetable to stop checking for electrified track.

Go to Timetable Defaults, click the Path Finder Flags dropdown and uncheck Consider Electrification Requirements.

Although unfortunately when testing in game it still doesn't let the electric traction run.

DTG Matt as discussed on your stream last night, if you could dig out what needs to be ticked or enabled, that would be amazing

  5. Interestingly, the OHLE works for me. I was able to spawn a Class 801 in timetable mode with tab and ran it under electric to hayes and harlington, where it subsequently lost power and i had to switch to the backup diesel engine, so at least part of it works.

EDIT: you could also use god mode to force electrification across the whole route, but it is not a perfect solution as it is another step for users of your mod and would have to be done every session

Interestingly it works in PIE, but I've been testing by cooking the mod and running it in game, in which the electric traction will not work. I was having to test in game for a while as my PIE kept crashing, but now I'm seeing differences in PIE compared to the actual experience, I probably will test more in game to make sure I have a more realistic experience with what works and what doesn't.

God mode is an option, but this limits the player base to those who want and have installed God mode and excludes consoles in the future if they decide on a way to allow consoles to experience these creations. So this is something I wouldn't want to do.

My long term goal with the scenario pack is to actually work with someone who can reskin the trains to put them in the right GWR and Heathrow Express liveries. Heathrow Connect could be done too but it would be the wrong vehicle, so maybe a small bit of creative licence there.

Being able to make the scenario work as "off the rails" might be the best way to do it, as Matt suggested. Just waiting for the week to see if he's able to dig out what option needs toggling or what needs doing to make it work.

Sounds like a good solution to have some timetable fun at LA Union running the A line light rail....using something like BR425s or UK 313/314s....on the 750V DC overhead. (WHY LA, WHY)
