well the acela express is the best because it uses electric power instead of diesel which is not good for the environment :)

Most favourite, GP38-2. I just love how all versions of it look and feel different. You've got the CSX, UP, NS and CN versions and they all their own different customisations by those operators. Different cab colour schemes, different equipment on the exterior, even if it's just a little extra panel bolted on somewhere. It makes you wish that this level of uniqueness between releases of the same class carried into other re-releases. Looking at you, BR Class 66...

Least favourite, ALP-46. No matter how hard I try, me and that control system just do not get along. I don't see it as a bad locomotive by any means, I am just simply unable to drive it. Probably because unless it's the BR Class 101, me and manual lap brake systems do not work well together. Same goes for the F40PH-2CAT, and I really like that one.

i dont have the acela dlc yet i want to get it soon i like electric locos too but here in US there not much of them compared to other countries i do like the german dlc s lots of electric freight passenger locos ..here in US the only electric locos ive seen in person are older ones when i was a teenager in early 80s my dad was a truck driver i liked to go on road trips with him in summer vacation we were in Philadelphia area picking up a loaded trailer and the Conrail electrified freight line was still operating but not for much longer was a freight stopped there with 2 E44 electrics we went over closer to check it out the engineer talked to us said they waiting to get into yard so not long they started moving it was impressive to me when the power was being applied they sounded like giant vaccum cleaners to me when at full throttle that was the only electric freight in US i ever saw did see a few GG1 s E64 AEM7 s on amtrak a couple times

same here i have a hard time with the lap braking that makes them fustrating for me maybe be nice if they would have some better toutorials on how to better learn and use these braking systems including dynamic braking

Dynamic braking for me is simple. Use on downhill, shut off throttle power, apply as much dynamic brake power as needed to keep your speed still. If full dynamic brake still isn't enough, give up on that, start using air brakes instead and prepare to have your speed graph at the end of the service look like a stock market.

Yeah I probably don't understand American freight as much as UK/EU freight.

Ya i m getting onto the dynamic braking slowly i did some how manage to get a train down cajon pass with mostly dynamic braking think it was a lighter train tonnage wise the longer ones ..like they say in the totorial s the braking takes a lot of practice and time to get it right ..and in real life i had engineers tell me the same that learning to do the brakes is the more complex aspects takes training lots of practice to master

SD70Ace. Because of it's s bulldog and maintenance friendly design, it's engine and horn sound it's raw power.

The class 45 is probably my favourite (though any other BR Diesel is very close too) and the class 66 my least favourite in my collection.

fav, hmm, Taurus and BR101, looking forward to the true 1116 Taurus coming with Semmeringbahn :) nice setup and engaging riding dynamics, and a lot of power :)

least? hm maybe that diesel MU from GWE, forgot the number... not so bad actually, but the acceleration is super-abysmal :D

    Favourites:

    BR Class 31:
It's just a fantastic loco, and I have a lot of nostalgia for them.

    DB BR 155:
Big and boxy. It's like a Volvo on rails.

    Most disliked:

    BR Class 66:
I used to like the real ones. Then I started playing TSW, and am just sick of looking at them now... Thanks DTG!

    Everything American.

Hard to say so I’m going with No 1 and runner up:
UK - Class 31, runner up Class 40.
    Germany/Europe - DB BR101, runner up G6.
    North America - F125, runner up F7.

I actually kinda like BR 155... sure, it is ugly AF (and since it is old, it is from a time when train manufacturers didnt give much fcks about its looks/design, cos... freight), but quite capable and surprisingly easy to operate... and I believe also its LZB works, so why not :) I mean, most UK EMUs in game are milkboxes on rails, but they drive nice :)

US... Acela, ACS64, ALP46 are quite nice, and F125 as a modern passenger diesel looks actually pretty sleek

Tough choices but I'll go with the GP9rm, UK Class 101 and Acela as favorites.

Least favorite would be any emu with a joystick and/or a pitifully narrow driving aperture.

Since I don't play many US routes but my favorites probably is:
    RLPL BR 193
One of my favorite Locomotives, superb sound and systems. I also have some real life familiarity to it.

    MRCE BR 182
Reminds me of a Railjet. Still dont like it doesnt have a digital speedometer but oh well.

DB BR 401(don't have it anymore :( )
Seen this thing often in Zürich, loved driving it in TSW3 when that was FREE.

    TGV Duplex:
Great sound, love the train itself as it has alot of potential. Unfortunately it runs on 1 or 2 maps and thats it. Gimme the 2N2 DTG.

    Least favorite Locomotives:

Most older Locomotives, including steam locos. Stock on Northern Trans-Pennine could give you a pretty good idea. However things like maybe the BR 155, BR 363 and the BR 111 Is there too.
They're good trains, but they are trains far before my time so it's just not something that I'm too interested in with only a few exceptions.

I am also into more modern trains, but as long as it is sth German/Austrian, it tends to be easier to get into since they like their order :D and most of those are still decent fast, most of them capable of 140-160 km/h and with decent acceleration :)

With Austria on the table, it'll bring a whole new roster of possibilities to add to that game.

RailJet, CityJet Desiro ML,... and some Vienna route :D just to be sure :D I so want to drive some route I have ridden as a passenger O:) I usually try to sit as close to the cab itself as possible to watch signals and such before they turn red, but it aint the same as from Fuhrermitstand (aka driver's cab / view) itself :D

gotta remember to do some footage when I am there, S45 and S80 (hopefully they are done with whatever they were doing between Erzherzog Karl Strasse and Aspern Nord, so I can film the whole journey) at least :)

high horsepower is 182 MRCE and Vectron (both have 300 kN of tractive effort, only Stadler EuroDual locos have more, around 500 kN, and some newer specifically freight locos, I believe Newag Dragon is a slower 120 km/h loco but has 410 kN)

    Newag Dragon:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newag_Dragon
(according to the page a single loco like this can pull up to 4500 tons)

My favorite to run depends on my mood, but I am going with the ACS-64 & F7. They offer two very different driving experiences. For the ACS-64 I enjoy the high speed, but also being able to stop along the way. It also has a nice display and combined power/dynamic brake handle. The F7 is fun because it looks great both inside and out. I think it sounds good as well and it's a nice challenge to drive it on Clinchfield.

My least favorite is the MP15DC because it is a bit boring compared to the other locos in game imo. It adds some nice variety to the Peninsula Corridor though.

I know that New York - Trenton is a disaster, but I’ll have to either say the Alp-46 or Acela. I like the Alp-46 a lot because it’s different from most U.S passenger trains we have, the different style of braking makes it a lot more harder and therefore more fun for me. Since I play on Xbox I don’t get the stuttering that PC players get apparently. I love doing commuter runs between NY Penn and Trenton. I also like running the Acela on NY - Trenton because of the section where you can go 150 Mile per hour.
I don’t really have a least favorite, because I try to enjoy the U.S content we have because we rarely get good U.S routes these days.

My favourite USA train would probably be the Acela so far (minus the Z-Fighting bug), I don’t have a least favourite tbh, I like all my collection.

edit: not based on bugs or how implemented in TSW or anything specific, just a general favourite

Sd40 from CCR/Old CSX is my go to. Its a true power house of old times. It will pull almost anything you put behind them.

Least favorite would have to be the F7 ( Due to DTG and their lack of detail for the locomotive.) It had so much potential but in my opinion was the biggest let down besides recycled horns across the US content lol

My favourite US trains are the Acela followed by the ALP 46 & ACS 64. Great detail and accurate sounds, although I think the traction motor fan in the Acela too loud and the ALP 46s brakes take time to get used to.

I don’t own any of the US freight routes so my least favourite US train would probably be the Rotem cab car for Antelope valley. The view is too high up for me although it’s probably the view you’d get out of the real thing.

An awful field of view out of the postage stamp-sized front cab window.
