Let's make it happen I was watching Matts live stream on twitch he mentioned about doing some things with Cathcart Circle updating lighting ect but could also add the class 385 as a sub as they also run on the route who would want this route updated.

I'm not a particular fan of the route, but I think all routes should be upgraded to ToD4.

Could this be in preparation for the new UK loco? Could the new loco be a class 380?? :o :D

Also fix the ballast. It doesn’t seem right (to my eyes at least) on this route.

Honestly? No. Not yet at least.

There are so many other routes which are in a much worse spot than Cathcart, which IMO is in a decent place.

The problem Cathcart has is variety, it doesn’t do a lot & what it does do is a very short experience.

I think that we need to hold off touching Cathcart until we have more stock to put on the route as AI. One of the biggest things that would help it is giving your short distance runs around the city, the backdrop of the larger Glasgow railway - as opposed to being a lonely world.

I wouldn't get your hopes up. Best thing is to have low expectations that way you'll be rarely disappointed... Especially when it comes to this game lol

It’s the ballast that stands out to me on this route as well but that’s how it is IRL the bright pink coloured stuff. Used to live in Neilston and used the line daily years back you could always tell when the P/Way had been out doing track work :)

I'm not against it as Cathcart Circle is only a hop skip and a jump away from me. But I'd like a bit more than just lighting upgrades. Smaller updates (Fixing Crosshill's missing PIS boards and DOO Monitors for instance, functionality to the large board at Central Station, AI Only 314s going past Shields depot to Gourock/Wemyss Bay, utilising more platforms at Glasgow Central etc) would justify it more for me personally.

As mentioned by someone else, Cathcart Circle is in a sweet spot as it stands. It wouldn't hurt to have an update to the route but it's fine as is.

Also, can I ask why so many people want the 385 to layer on to Cathcart so badly? 385s don't run the line in reality. A 380, 320 or 318 would be more fitting if you're after more stock to run on the line.

a 318 with one of the Ayrshire routes would be great :)

also your last point totally agree with have just gone through RTT and looked at the history for during the week in the rush hours and not one 385 was running through Cathcart.

Honestly, i just want them to add scenario planner 2.0, being able to fill up glasgow central, and do AI services from the down ayr line, WCML, and driveable shields depot moves would be amazing. Adding the ballast texture from MML would make it look so much better as well

Funnily enough just doing a Cathcart run out to Neilston as it generated on Quick Play. Couldn’t agree more, definitely needs a lighting buff. The other outstanding issue is the stations in darkness in winter months, needs dynamic platform lighting enabled.

Matt mentioned on the Roadmap Q&A stream that he was taking on a remaster - as a passion project - himself.
I presume, combined with his reference to Cathcart, that would be what he's doing it with.

I doubt a one-man job (or, certainly, only a handful of people) will be done by the time the UK Loco comes.

(Looks likely to be the 91, anyway(

Cathcart Circle is my most played route, unsurprisingly as a Glasgow girl.

By all means I would absolutely love to see updates to it but I think it's fine enough for the time being.

TOD4 lighting would be wonderful but I would also ideally like to see some updates to the scenery, especially in and around Glasgow Central. Central station itself still feels exceptionally bare, would love to see some representation of the express services heading south of the border, the Caledonian Sleeper would be a great one to spot at night as well.

Generally I think it's a route that could really stand to benefit from the same remaster treatment as the West Somerset Railway.

(Also wouldn't mind some distant sounds of the security guards ejecting troublemakers from the nearby dreaded "4 corners" McDonald's at 2am. DTG I'm available for a recon mission if you're interested  )

The worst thing about Cathcart is the night lighting ( or lack of it ). If that was fixed I'd start playing it again. Actually that could be said of a number of routes, like BCC for instance. There are several that I can't drive after dark.

You can't put Class 385's on Cathcart Circle. It's a completely different time period and they'd look daft next to the 314's.

Visual upgrade would be nice though.

What I would prefer to see is another route utilising Glasgow Central, such as the Inverclyde Lines with a Class 380 or the Glasgow Southwestern to Kilmarnock and East Kilbride with the Class 156. Both can then use the Class 314 for additional AI.

There was a brief period in the summer of 2019 when the Class 314s and Class 385s were both in service - although generally the Class 385s were allocated to longer distance routes allowing the Class 318, 320 and 380 fleets to be displaced onto the more suburban routes replacing the Class 314s. Therefore it would not be impossible see a Class 314 and Class 385 operating alongside each other out of Glasgow Central if set in this period.

I would always rate GWE first on my list for an upgrade, anything else I would be happy with just not particularly first on my list.

On a related issue with Cathcart, why is it that to complete the Mastery you need to perform a significant rules violation? To complete Tier 2 you need to reach 70 MPH on a timetable or scenario run with the 314. Nowhere on any of the route is there a section with that line speed. Maximum out to Neilston is 55 MPH. Well I did it anyway but in reality any driver recklessly exceeding the speed limit by 15 MPH would be “for cause” screened and very likely removed from further driving duties if not sacked.

Luckily for you this is only a game and not real life. Break those speed restrictions to your hearts content, without fear of being sacked or judged by an angry old lady on her way to a rangers cup match.

Well it’s a game that’s supposed to be a simulation.

Using your logic, we should remove the signalling.

I would look at it is one of those special speed runs.

Of course the irony is that you’re doing the mastery to get a UFO crash site, personally I threw away the logic of unlock method.

It wasn’t even drama. It was simply having a funny exchange with someone, who initially was trying to aggravate me. I also found out from an anonymous source that he’s a known nuisense on this site.
Banter/trolling obviously people can’t distinguish the two from each other. They see red and report you. Clearly joking isn’t allowed on here. I’ll remember that going forward and be more cautious.
    Anyways back to the topic…
Yes! I’d welcome a Cathcart Circle remaster. Glasgow central is far too quiet, some new loco pack added to make the route feel more busier.

Yes, I agree. The exact reason I avoid playing this route at night. It’s like every station you arrive at they are trying to save money on their electric bills.
