I suspect Cyclone means that it doesn't say (specify) that the discount is due to the original FRC.
He didn't write that, so it can be read differently.
In any event, I think the case is well established. Log in with an account owning FRC, and you get the discounted offer on FRCE.

Which was mentioned to him further up that the loyalty discount is just that. A loyalty discount for current owners of the original. When it is a normal discount to all steam shows it as discount (insert percentage).
Now we have finished this discussion we can go back to enjoying seeing the screenshots of this masterpiece from those who own it.

Making a simple free roam scenario with a manifest freight from Oroville yard to Portola. Populating with some rolling stock on sidings, loading some passing tracks, adding some other track side fillers, fixing some spur side structure placements. It will probably take a few days. Looking for photo ops for some nice screenies along the way.

triznya is correct. Once I saw the full price in a private window, I concluded the original FRC drove the discount but also noticed nothing actually said on the Web page. I don’t need a lecture on how to read like I am a young schoolboy not listening to the headmaster when I have already more or less confirmed, in some way, that the discount is driven by something owned. When a more sane discount exists, I will consider it, but I still have some 160 routes I still have to explore as it is. So there is lots of time.

We have boarded WP3011 has permission to leave the yard and enter the main. As we leave Oroville yard we pass the California Zephyr at the Oroville depot.
I will post thumbnails to keep space to a minimum.

I am not the one arguing minute and frivolous points. If anything, I have been on topic the entire time. Good day.
Are these scenarios, or stock you are working on?

For non AP track that track they have used looks fantastic. In them screenshots it is hard to tell if that is TSC or TSW if you didnt know the route or sim.

This a free roam scenario where I have dressed the route with various stock from both Feather River Canyon routes and a conglomeration of reskins from various professional 3rd party independent artists.

    1) Didn't need to stop at Kramm. They put the local in the hole. Amazing what happens if you slip a 6 pack to the dispatcher.
    2) Got lucky at Elsey, that 6 pack must have been cold.
    3) Not so lucky at James. In the hole, the Zephyr finally caught up.
    More tomorrow

It can't be TSW as the lighting is realistic, there's a lot of different stock, populated yards, road traffic and roads themselves look much better, and distant trees look realistic. And no invisible walls stopping me from exploring the world and looking for nice camera positions! :) Who needs a frickin timetable (only repeating the same services at different times) for freight?!? This route screams for creative free roams and workshop scenarios.

I love this route!!! (Steve Ballmer style)

What's the route ID for this please? I get confused between it and the original Feather River route.

You can check route IDs with Locoswap or TS Tools.

I don't think you can check route IDs with that tool, but if you choose the route itself it will list all scenarios assigned under that ID. The difference being that LocoSwap will not find anything in an AP file (my version is old; maybe the new one does it).

As for the route ID, there are ways to get it. The route ID via that link is e0732f85-e0c6-434f-aca7-dba57e488a90.

Open TS_Tools. At the top of the page click "List of Route Names and Folder" tab. It is worth a read to find what you can do with TS_Tools. Much faster than NameMyRoute. Most invaluable tool is to create a searchable database to find any rolling stock that you have in your inventory as well as bulk assets swap.

Those who have this route seem to be enjoying it. Those who listened to all the negative comments and didn't by now will sheepishly creep back an purchase when it goes on sale. But I think it will not happen soon. People are already modifying some of the content. It's a natural evolution. I have personally spent hours on it. Cheaper than a night out with your buddies, No need to wash and iron, can be used over and over again, and never wears out.

For me, it's a limited resources type of thing. Even buying one item for $40 could be enough to throw my current budget off kilter. I have to wait for sales, and prices unfortunately are going up all the time while I'm not getting any extra money. Someday.

As touched on when I mentioned this route over in the TSW corner, it seems that one or more of the scenarios cannot be completed? Do we know if the developer is working on a fix for this?

Has this been confirmed by at least another player? Before stuff can get fixed, a bug must be confirmed to be a bug...

It's probably not been confirmed by anyone. My neighbour's uncle's barber was talking to someone on a bus who told him . . . And then it becomes fact. That's how the Internet works.

Given I reported a problem with two scenarios in the Fife Circle pack and those scenarios have never been fixed (if you're wondering, in #7, a track junction changes after giving you a green signal and you suddenly run a red if you're not careful about five minutes in, and in #9, the timings for stops after the halfway point are flawed making the best fix we have to change the scoring per stop in ScenarioProperties - yes, it works), I'm not confident they will go back to fix this scenario.

The best option we have is to fix them ourselves (this also works). OldVern, which scenarios cannot be completed for what reason?

I’ll have to check through the “Enough Is Enough” thread see if I can find the reference. Not bought the route myself yet, inclining to wait until later in the year when it gets a sale discount.

But it hasn't been confirmed, has it?

And even if so - do you buy a route only to play the included scenarios then put it away? For me, they are "starter" packs giving me ideas what to do with the route, later creating my own stuff on it and playing Workshop scenarios.

I will play the "4th one I think" and see.

No need to get snarky. :) Was only relating what I'd read. There are also a few negative reviews appearing on Steam so my decision is to wait and see. In any event, Shelby to Havre and Ringbahn higher on the wishlist at present.

Vern, it wasn't snarky just rational (of course there's a lot of misinterpretation due to you not seeing or hearing me but only seeing what I've written). Don't ever read Steam reviews - people not reading the manual will complain "my loco won't move the route is broken" because they are too stupid to check all brakes are released. :)

Trust your forum mates - it's a FINE route.

Roger that! Managed to sneak down to Sainsbury's this morning and grab a couple of £20 Steam Wallet gift cards (don't tell the wife!). Once I see what's what in the sale starting in a few days, will indulge my spending urge - especially as nothing coming out for TSW in the next few weeks is of much interest.

What started out as a warm sunny day with blue skies has now turned into overcast (not in the game but my place :) ). So I'm playing scenario [4].

    42.png

Don't these mountain forests look much better than in TSW (sorry I just had to... :D )
    43.png

On my way... enjoying the landscape (mountains and forests is where I feel home... if I left Germany one day it would be either Norway or British Columbia I'd spend the rest of my days.... but I'm lucky to live in a place that has mountains, beautiful lakes and warm temperatures. The Rhine Valley with the world's highest density of glacier formed gravel pits turned clear blue lakes and the Black Forest.) All coupling's been done so I wonder when the bug hits me...

I'm not affiliated with RWA or HIS, just sayin' :) (as people are quickly put into categories here). Just love the work the people that also brought us Stevens Pass (you know it's my definite #1 route) have done.

Watch out at Keddie - let this guy clear the tunnel! As usual in Gary's scenarios, the dispatcher will keep you updated what's to expect.

Jfc all I was trying to say was that it wasn't perfect. I ran into a bug on the 4th scenario that launched my train into orbit. Maybe it's not reproducable. I'm not trying it again because i have limited time to play as it is.

Thought it was worth mentioning because FRE was brought up in the context of how awful TSW is in comparison, and i just wanted to make the point that TSC has more than a few of its own legacy code issues that are limiting despite the best efforts of 3rd-party devs.

It's a great route and i wish it would come to TSW, which, in fact, was the main point of my post!

Yeah, it's not about proving someone wrong, it's about empirically checking a statement, normal in tech support.

If I have a theory I am glad for anyone supporting me in either confirming or disproving it. Both is helpful!

We all know TSC has its flaws - but opposed to TSW we can all manipulate it and tweak it to our needs. Small fixes are provided by the community. The data is accessible and we got the same dev tools as DTG. (apart from DRM model encrypting of course :) )

We can repaint the Clio Trestle as we like, edit scenarios, change the sky, just about everything. Which is keeping a game alive.

TSW is fully controlled by DTG, and if it wasn't for clever coders who figured stuff out without DTG's support (and to their surprise initially) there'd not be a single mod for seven-years old TSW as of today, except for .ini tweaks.

Kuju released the tools with the first or second patch for RS.

But for paid content, why should the end user be the one that has to fix that vs the devs themselves, one whos been around the US railroad industry enough to do their own research and should of had it right from the beginning?

Also, lets be real, if Feather River Canyon was even brought to TSW, DTG would set it in the modern era, (Where I doubt there is even much local industry still out there) use UP trains but forget that BNSF has trackage rights out there and not layer those in the timetable.

It's not worth getting upset imho, if you count the things the route offers. As a package, it's highly enjoyable and imho worth the money. It may not be for you, that's ok. We alle have preferences and some things weigh more for some than others.

I think the "Sound-Nitpickers" have had a huge impact on TSW. If DTG can't get the real recordings they will just not do the train at all now. Who's winning there?

If you're not getting into modifying stuff to your liking, DTG games are just not for you. And there's others who happily tweak things, you don't necessarily have to do it yourself.

I'm sure there'll be a complaint if one out of 2,000,000 trees on the map will float. Jeez, press Ctrl+E when you notice it, drag it down, press play and it's done. You're getting ten times the scenery and stock as for Goblin line for your money.

I've not yet come across a useful picture showing the old trestle colour, all of the photos are heavily aged and tinted and all look different. I've repainted the texture for my needs and that's fine.

I'm sure if they had tried to do the old paint someone would have claimed the colour was wrong as well...
