Not this again. They're not going to expand the route a second time. Anything new on the Southeastern network will only come as it's own route, not as an extension for a route that's already been extended once.
It’s probably a good suggestion, sure other stuff should probably come first but I wouldn’t be disappointed at all if it happened, it would be a good thing.
Actually, there's more northern routes. Southern routes: 1. East Coastway - Brighton to Eastbourne & Seaford branch 2. BML - London Victoria to Brighton 3. Southeastern High Speed - St Pancras to Ashford and Dartford to Faversham (extended to Ashford and Dartford for TSW3) That's only 3 (4 if the extended SEHS is counted separate. WCL doesn't count. There are no "vintage" southern routes would be the better phrase.
I'll just say anything that's not third rail or electrostar is northern (discounting the Merseyrail network).
I have suggested a similar line before but starting from Ashford International Station, then known only as Ashford Station, set in the 1930s when the Golden Arrow service was running down to Dover Marine. The image below is of Ashford Station as it would have been in the 1930s and on the right you can see a locomotive with the Golden Arrow across the front. As well as going to Dover Marine station, the route can go on around the corner to Dover Priory. The image below shows Dover Priory Station and then Dover Marine Station just below that in the 1930s. This website shows a lot more information including timetables, the route and ticket types. http://www.disused-stations.org.uk/d/dover_western_docks/
I haven’t counted but an equal amount in that case is a higher amount, as the others must be made up of other categories (a group category), Scotland & Northern & midlands and therefore dividing them to a single category like the south is shows a larger disparity
That is the problem. Look how smaller area of Britain the 'South', or for what I think you mean, the South east is. If there are the same amount of routes in that small area as the rest of Britain then the rest of Britain certainly needs more routes! For goodness sake there are whole areas like East Anglia or Cumbria without routes, in fact even a whole country, though it is only Wales!
Can’t link to where he said it, but the EP Mr Peddlesen emphatically ruled out any further work being done to SEHS, time to move on I think were his words. Even if they do another southern England third rail (or even better DEMU route) there are plenty of areas away from North Kent which would be of greater interest, the most often requested being part of the South Western main line from Waterloo down to Weymouth, whichever era fulfills your requirements.
Personally I either want to come storming up Bincombe Bank out of Weymouth with a 33/1 on max power pushing an eight car TC formation, or 90 MPH through the New Forest with a 4 REP tractor unit, also with 2 x 4TC in tow.
Only one of those is up to standard (at least with lightning), neither of the true "Southern" routes are in TOD4 and both would really shine with update, not even extension. Just update ECW alongside 377/3 & 171 GP and give BML it's long deserved new timetable. I may be a little biased as I like the design of electrostars and turbostars, so the ECW update is a must for me, and BML is still my favorite route to date.
A 50 mile extension to Ashford and the stretch to Dartford, which brings route length up to 90 miles (roughly) isn't enough?
I think instead of an extension, DTG should release a new southeastern route entirely. Cover the Greenwich or Bexley lines from Dartford up to Cannon Street.
I don’t really care much for the javelin imo I prefer the slower commuter routes. If they extended it would be have to be from Faversham, which is unlikely to happen. A different Southeastern route is more likely. Also the 395 doesn’t run on the Greenwich or bexley lines.
Nothing wrong with the Javelin, but I’m happy with the SEHS section we have in the game, of course I’d like it to extend to Ramsgate, but can’t see that happening unless a solo dev wanting to take up the challenge. DTG will not touch this route anymore.
This would cater to such a small audience, and would be just another route, If they based it in modern day England, They already have all the tractions they need. Just add to the timetable. And maybe a scenery/lighting update.
