Is anyone else getting a shimmering effect with the AP vegetation packs trees? It's very noticeable on my setup and quite off putting and tbh feels like I'm getting the start of a migraine (the swimmy visuals, if you know, you know) when playing.

Has anyone had it and managed to eliminate it? I can reduce the effect a little by reducing the sunlight intensity slider and a little bit further again with the contrast and (forgot what the third sliders called atm), but then the dark areas and shadows look far too dark, bearing in mind you cannot alter the brightness in anything other than Fullscreen and I have to play in Windowed because of the APSWEP (+ it's easier to switch to my second monitor too).

If you've fixed it let me know how and with what settings.

Yes, there is some shimmering with the AP veg... I´ve heard no one complaining about migrane up until now though. You better not drive any east european route with the shape shifting treas while you drive towards them :D

I have noticed the same effect, it's a shame as i love the trees so i just put up with it. I run on a 1080P screen, if anyone does have a fix for this i would love to hear it.

Not actually getting migraines, I was just trying to explain the distracting shimmering effect it has on me, trust me if it was inducing migraines, then the pack would be uninstalled and I'd be asking Richard for a refund!
I'm hoping that someone else who's had this issue as already it seems I'm not the only one to notice this (yet I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere before, weird) has figured out a way to eliminate it via certain settings.
I might drop Richard a ticket, surely someone else has reported this?

Yeah I'm on 1080p too, I upscale to 2k via Nvidia DSR but it doesn't seem to reduce it, maybe a native 2k (don't think my 1080Ti would like 4k a whole bunch) is the answer and why it's not been so readily noticed by others?

Has it started recently and are you subscribed to the public beta? If so, the newly released version may be causing it.

I've just re-installed from scratch so I'm on v75.8a, so no not on Beta, I would say it seems more noticeable now since my re-install but it was something I was actively looking at because it was one of the things I was hoping a fresh install would fix, it didn't.

My old install had things in the past like re-shade and RWE2, I haven't re-introduced either to my latest install as of yet.

I had a reply from Richard btw..

After just doing a completely fresh install I'm hoping to not have to re-install all routes (and AP track - AP Weather - AP Signals and other fixes and tweaks which I still yet haven't finished re-installing yet anyway). Argghh.

It’s the shadow quality settings. Anything but the highest will do that. The problem is that the ap veg casts many detailed shadows, i actually had to lower my shadow quality settings from the highest to the mid settings in order not to get fps drops and small loading freezes. And i have quite a good system. I am actually pretty miffed that i had to bounce down on quality settings, as i used to be able to max them out before i installed the ap veg pack.

I get it even on highest shadow settings though.

But not as severe i presume. The distance to the shimmering should be greater.

I run max fxaa or whatever they are called settings, and the shimmering is there for me as well. So it’s not that.

As Richard notes the root cause is likely anti-aliasing.

Old assets are generally larger blobs, low fidelity, less prone to various kinds of flickering.
At some point DTG created trees with only the trunk rendering except close-up. That's one solution, dropping details.
I played Tehachapi recently and the foliage was absolutely horrid, clearly designed for at least 8K rendering. (It was exactly like old TV analogue white noise which we casually call "ant soccer" in my language. Similar to Temporal AA flicker.)
Adding lower poly models at various distance thresholds can help.

I get it as well, always had it since I installed it. Kinda get used to it eventually but it does annoy me a bit. I wished it did not happen as they look great.

I get it but have always treated it as leave flicker due to a slight breeze (guess I'm a 'glass half full' sort of chap)
