It's been about a month since I've fired up TSW. I stopped playing cause I was having endless unreal crashes. After coming back to the game, it's almost impossible to load into any service without an unreal crash happening as the service is loading. I've removed all mods and made sure the game, windows, and my GPU drivers are all up to date and it still crashes. Even tried verifying game files and nothing has fixed it. I did a clean re-install of the entire game with all my DLC and the problem still persists. I don't know what to do at this point. If anyone currently has or had this issue and/or knows how to fix it, I'd appreciate any pointers. Really frustrating. i9 14900k 64GB ddr5 2TB m.2 ssd AMD Radeon 7900XTX 24GB
As stated in my original post, I have. Even a fresh install did not fix this issue. I can’t play any service or scenario without a crash during the loading screen. :/
Yup. 100% sure. Checked the DLC and PAK folders and it was only the official DLC files for what I’ve purchased.
Google results seem to be in agreement that AMDXX64 is a graphics driver issue. You said your drivers are up to date, so maybe try an older stable version? Might also be worth disabling various options to see if any of them might be the cause.
Yeah, I ran the AMD cleanup utility and removed all drivers and software and tried re-installing not only the latest but the 2nd latest driver and it still crashes to the desktop when loading into any service. Sometimes I don’t get an unreal engine crash report tho. It just closes and doesn’t say anything. Didn’t start having this issue until I started messing around with the UE VR mod but that doesn’t modify any files and I was able to play fine with it so I don’t know if that is associated with this issue at all. I just noticed it started happening around that time. I do notice my GPU fans go crazy loading into TSW tho. Even on the menu it gets HOT and very loud and I’m not even doing anything which has never happened before.
Most of them except for a fresh install of windows. That just isn’t possible as I have so much stuff for work on this PC. :/ seems to be an issue with the GPU drivers but rolling back and/or re-installing doesn’t seem to help
Gave it a go with no graphics driver installed for my dedicated GPU (using my intel HD graphics) and still received a crash but with a different error this time... Installed the earliest possible driver for this card and still crashes… I’m worried something might be wrong with the GPU but on every single other game I have it’s fine…
Update: finally got into a service without crashing. I launched the exe file as administrator. Never had to do this before…
try this it turns out some unreal engine games will work if you turn-off windows gpu scheduling so for those on similar setup please give that a try. or i had massive problems with the Indika Demo, an UE4 Game which crashed on startup even before the main menu showed up. i did not find the gpu scheduling within my win10 22h2 Build. But, right now it seems i have fixed the crashes by disabeling the Windows Game Mode. You'll find this in Settings > Gaming > Game Mode found that in google search it might help resource Constant crashes on Unreal Engine games only - AMD Community
I was really hoping this would be the fix since I did notice that it was turned on (somehow) but it still crashes on loading with the same error.
too bad :/ are you running the game in dx11 or dx12 mode ? that is under launch options if you ever changed from dx11 to dx12 it might help to clear shaders How to Clear AMD Shader Cache (gameskeys.net
I was running with -DX12 startup command when it started happening, so I removed it and the issue still persisted. I just flash updated my bios to the latest version which was a 4 month jump and I was actually able to load into a service but I’m gonna keep trying and see if the issue comes back cause there was a few times I was able to load into a service before I updated the bios but then the crashing started happening again. I’m hoping this was the issue. From my research, the bios version is important as it’s giving instructions to my motherboard for all my PC components. Crossing my fingers this does it.
I updated successfully and noticed a performance increase but after 10 minutes in-game, it happened again, except the error is only listed once and not a couple dozen times... *sigh
Regarding the exception access violation, I see mention of that possibly being caused by audio drivers and/or Sonic Studio (via ASUS). Do you have an ASUS motherboard and Sonic Studio installed? Next suggestion would be to start completely from scratch if you haven't already done so. Reset all BIOS settings, graphics & other game-related driver settings, TSW settings to the defaults (including removing any Steam startup flags like DX12), clear the shader cache, remove any and every mod, verify files, and then see what happens and go from there.
I truly think it has to do with the game itself cause this didn’t start happening every single time until the latest patch. I was generally fine before that. and sometimes it doesn’t even give me a crash. It literally locks my computer up restarts the PC on its own. and it’s only TSW4 that does this. Any other game or software is completely fine. I’ve reset all the bios settings to default, and removed shader cache, and still happening almost every single time. I don’t think TSW4 likes this GPU lol. Should’ve just ditched the extra money for Nvidia but now I’m out of my return window so I’m stuck with this card. got a different one this time. error roulette. I might have to end up re-installing windows after all cause ive tried literally everything. :/
Nothing I have is overclocked, I don't even have a single clue as to how to overclock anything in the first place. It's all stock. I know my GPU's branding is OC edition, but that's the only way it's overclocked. I would assume that would be at a save level by default.
on nvidia some things can be fixed by underclocking or undervolting whatever it is but i never tried that too much work
if you have fast boot on in bios turn it off heat can be a problem on that card so manually put in higher fan curves
Exchanged my AMD Radeon 7900XTX for an RTX 4090 and the crashing continues but the error has changed. I'm assuming I'm gonna have to reinstall Windows... The consensus from this point is something is corrupt somewhere and I don't know what... Bios settings are default and nothing is manually overlocked!
Clean windows install. All brand new hardware. Still crashing for no reason. Drivers upto date. Bios upto date. On Windows 10 instead of 11. Ram checked. Updated C++ libraries. It’s gotta be an issue with unreal engine or the the latest Microsoft update. Why did this only start happening since the latest TSW update for me? I’m just so shocked. I don’t know what else to do. I’ve tried literally everything under the sun… GPU temps running at a healthy 65 under heavy load too. No OC on anything. It’s only TSW that does this. No other games or software give me this crashing issue. tried running -DX12 and I get this upon launch. This is a 4090… how is it running out of memory? Also did a memory test and it passed. Ram are in correct slots. A2 and B2
man that is some bad luck what is your exact hardware setup? name everything that is in your pc case could be even something simple as upgrading the PSU or something else you could try to clean out pci-e slots with some compressed air and make sure it fits good same for cables that go from the PSU to the GPU I even heard of bad fitted cables causing melted (plugs) ugh my English stops there lol could you maybe try to run the game with just 32gb ram on the mobo and then if that does not work try again with the other 32gb ram
Out of video memory... Looks like the game use the Motherboard gpu and not your'e external Gpu... Maybe you start the wrong Gpu by default
I truly wish that was the case. :/ The 4090 is at 95-100% utilization when In game. It’s also happening on other unreal engine games.
Having the same problem as you on Xbox PC game pass, it’s something to do with the game not supporting DX12.
One thing come up is to check how many Cores the pc is using.. Go to Run typ msconfig Go to advanced And activate all cores in the left top corner... Restart and try again Did you change your page file in Windows to a manual amount around 5000/10000mb?
tried all of this and still it still occurs.. what’s weird is I use to use -DX12 launch prompt all the time when doing graphic enhancements with engine.ini but doing so now completely prevents the game from opening with the out of memory error. Did you recently just start having this issue? I’m thinking it could be the latest Microsoft update. Have you updated windows recently? I wish they’d just give this game default DX12 compatibility already
I’ve currently having my longest play session without a crash. Completed one entire 30 minute service and I’m 15 minutes into the second one. What I did before this was create a desktop shortcut for the exe of the game and right clicked and went to properties. I checked off “launch as administrator” and also changed the comparability mode to windows 8. Assuming you’re on PC, Give that a shot and let me know how that fairs for you!
Jsut me. Only created the one account you’re required to create when installing windows and that’s it.
Steam won't even let me open TSW4 at all now. Is it because I've attempted to install windows multiple times? *sigh it never ends Just read it's denuvo. Apparently i'm restricted to 5 installs per day... This is ridiculous cause how am i supposed to troubleshoot the issue I'm having and attempt to get it working if I'm being restricted for a product i've PAID for....
weird for that i would contact DTG since they put denuvo in it but then if it work again tomorrow but yeah it is ridicules
Over 4 hours in TSW3 (since 4 won’t open for me right now due to being locked out), and no crashes at all… (so far). I followed this from your other thread
I’m honestly afraid to post anything here cause I’m l terrified of jinxying anything (my luck hasn’t been the best these past few days lol), but the issue seems to be both the motherboard and power supply. Used my warranty to trade in (most of) my new components after running several tests on my hardware after discovering there were issues/errors with voltage to the CPU, GPU, ram etc. It’s looking like the issue wasn’t those components specifically, but the motherboard and also the power supply that’s powering them. When the load gets to heavy, unreal engine games give me an error and instantly timeout. I replaced both the motherboard and power supply. Changed to the Asus z790-P Pro WiFi and Seasonic 1200W and I haven’t had a single crash all day (yesterday) and half of today (so far) with several hours in multiple services with graphics and resolution set to the maximum. It’s just sad and very shocking as this build is just shy of 4 months old so somewhere along the way either the motherboard or power supply took a pooh but the tech guy at microcenter said the issue was likely either of the two components or both and its best to just replace both at the same time. Glad I did. Thanks to everyone that provided suggestions and guidance. Greatly appreciate every single one of you. Hopefully I won’t have much to say here in this thread after this lol
Very happy you found a solution. (What was the old motherboard, btw?) MicroCenter does have good folks, if you're lucky enough to live near one. That's always my first stop for tech shopping.
Glad you're sorted. Often, it can be things like a tiny damaged capacitor, cold solder joints - or static electricity when assembling the PC, so always make sure you're grounded when fiddling with hardware.
I’m about 20 minutes out from one. Very very fortunate. It was an MSI z790 tomahawk wifi ddr5. It’s a shame cause I’ve had a great run with MSI products in the past but switching out seemed to do the trick!
