it's not just a timetable editor, its a whole pack of a modified UE4 Editor, fitting for Train Sim World. a console port is unimaginable. how would you handle the UI using a controller? and whilst it would technically possible to get mods to console, there is a certain gateway. only game devs can port console compatible content to the respective hardware after they got the license/whatever to publish content on the said console. you cannot access internal console files, so modding it without having that available "officially" is impossible.
Simulating a timetable takes anywhere between half an hour and half a day on a high-end computer. I don't think that's an option for consoles.
you literally always "strongly disagree" with anything that you don't like. it's the truth, get over it.
Gonna be honest, it sounds great don't get me wrong, more features the better. But as an xbox player, I can happily say I've got no desire to sit down for about 3 to 4 hours making a timetable and figuring out what goes where at what time and how it'll proceed. Then top it off by waiting another 5 something hours for it to simulate the timetable to give me a greenlight. There's also the chance it might crash mid-way through and I'll be back at square one. I could just spawn my own train in an already active and WORKING timetable with the freeroam menu. Imo, what'd be better is for people on PC to make custom timetables that could be downloaded for free on console through like creators club.
You strongly disagree that consoles don't have the hardware to simulate the timetable? Consoles simply do not have the hardware and it takes a lot of resources and time to even simulate it on a high end pc. You can watch the february roadmap for more details, but it is unlikely to become available to consoles
You can certainly disagree on opinions but not on facts. And if you disagree, tell us why - or are you just creating threads for the sake of it?
Seems that way... I find playing TSW(3) bothersome on the PS5 despite the big 65" screen, with the lack of key commands etc. so imagine making a timetable would be a massive challenge. Besides, isn't it done within the UE4 editor we have which is PC only.
If there was a way for it to come to console, can't see why it shouldn't. But the chance of that happening is highly unlikely.
Why don’t you just use the editor on PC? The fact that you desire this suggests your needs have “outgrown” your console. If you don’t have or can’t afford a PC, you need to temper your expectations. A gen 9 console is really just a limited-functionality 5-year old PC in a box built uniquely for playing games. It’s not supposed to do anything else.
And also how do you import all your data and things like that with a console ? Even if some of the gen 8/9 have internet with them I don't see myself exporting lidar data on it. And you don't even have Qgis on console... So you still need a PC for a lot of tools. Not everything come with the editor.
I don't see why timetables couldn't be sharable on consoles. Lots of games have user-created maps, etc on console. The only limitation might be it only working with unmodded content, but there's a market for it on PC i don't see why not on console.
As said by Moron it is much more than just a timetable editor. It is also complicated enough on the PC with endless places to click and I think navigating it would be a right nightmare with the controller. Saying this my experience on PC with the editor were me loading it up, staring at it for a couple of seconds and just clicking the 'x' in the right hand corner!
I got as far as laying a few sections of track in the editor, tried to make a junction then got totally bamboozled finding and placing a point motor or lever. That's before anything advanced like terrain painting. The point being that was bad enough on PC, couldn't even contemplate doing same on a console.
By 'eck! That weren't like that yesterday, or was it? I must say I will miss the Moron name as it gave me a good chuckle now and again! You are very much a pro compared to me then! It would be a real pain to try and navigate it with a controller, before even thinking about the power needed.
You chose to purchase a device designed purely for content consumption and not content creation. I don't know why you chose to do that, but the consequences should have been obvious at the point you purchased it. You cannot use a Games Console to program a game that runs on a Games Console, you have to use a PC. The same goes for creating 3D models, drawing textures, editing sounds, rendering videos or any other complex task, including the TSW editor suite. If you have now decided that you are in fact interested in content creation, then my advice is see if you can trade your console in for a PC.
Always wanted to see a creators tool like scenario planner but for timetables and of course on console Don’t think the editor may be the best way to port it though
Hey folks - just to manage expectations here, it's unlikely that an Editor (in the sense of the current PC Editor in beta) would come to consoles, for many, many technical reasons. That would be the way we'd surface a Timetable Editor. (some comments above are right though, there is a hardware limitation, and timetable simulation can take ages). Our long-term aspiration is to bring sharing capabilities of Editor content, firstly to PC players, and (providing the technical limitations allow), to consoles. I'm not going to promise that though, as there are many things we'll want to do with the Editor first to bring it into a position where it is more user-friendly.
