I would like to suggest the DB BR 140 which has been the Bundesbahn work horse for decades. Not only for freight but also slower regional trains. This loco from the German "Einheitslokfamilie" (meaning a unified platform for several loco types) would fill the large need for a freight loco that can run along the BR 110 on Linke Rheinstrecke. There are several color schemes that would fit that era, many locos have kept their original green or beige/blue liveries, they also have been paint in both orient red and traffic red. In addition there a several private railway companies to run the 140 to this day, e.g. Pressnitztalbahn who are already present in TSW with the 155 livery. It would fit absolutely perfectly e.g. to Linke Rheinstrecke or Main-Spessart Bahn in green as well as Bremen-Oldenburg in traffic red. But basically it would be a fit everywhere. With over 850 locos built it was a common sight everywhere in (back then Western) Germany. The pictures in this post are made by me over the course of the last years, while not as common anymore they are still around to this day.
An absolutely essential loco missing in TSW. LFR really needs it for freight and the local services. Shouldn’t be that hard to do either. You’d need a new 3D model but the sounds and physics you can just take from the 110. After all, a 140 is really just a 110 without the electric brake and with different gearing.
True. Could be a lovely idea for a new vintage route. Build a 3D model for the Kasten-Einheitseloks fitting the 110 and 140 (with minor alterations). Ship a new vintage route with the (new Kasten) 110 on express passenger duty and the 140 for local and freight services. Include an appropriate V60 for shunting. Layer the 140 back on LFR.
And let the Kasten- and Bügelfalte-110 substitute for one another. You'd get so much out of this, for not a lot of work. And of course we could have so many repaints, both vintage and modern... PRESS blue is the obvious one, but I'd be really keen on that black Erfurter Bahnservice livery.
Did any Kasten 10s have KWS? I know that a lot of Bügelfalten had it retro-fitted from '97 onwards but I don't know if any Kasten got it as well.
You can also make a 139 from this and that's used on the TSC Mittenwald Bahn Innsbruck Garmisch München Hbf and Freiburg im Breisgau Hausach routes backdated to the 1960s.
For completely the „Einheitslok“ family I would wish the heavy power freight loco BR150: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/DB_Class_E_50 And the small BR141 for regional traffic (120km/h): https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/DB_Class_E_41 Don’t forget the machine room.
Just found on YT: Ideas for Linke Rheinstrecke Scenario Pack 1 "Flood on the Rhine" for the 140 as per reality
This meant DB Baureihe 140 must be compatible with Freight and passenger Nahverkehr Wagen N-wagen for Linke Rheinstrecke Koblenz Bingen Mainz Frankfurt am Main Hbf
Honestly it always baffled me why this loco hasn't been included yet. A true workhorse! Since the groundwork has already been done with the 110, it surely would be easier to make, instead of building some new loco completely from scratch. And definitely more rewarding than one reskin of the 185 after another. I can hardly think of a more versatile addition, it could layer into so many routes and timetables for regional and cargo services. Especially Linke Rheinstrecke and Bremen-Oldenburg are in dire need of something like the 140. But it would fit well into so many other routes too! Definitely on my most wanted list... on 2nd place perhaps, behind the 218
definitely want it as it would benefit DTG's heritage collection for German trains. Currently they have the DB Br class 103 and 110, but having this would be a good addition to the trains.
