This is happening in TSC quick drive. I messed up TSC trying to get AP 2.0 weather to work but that will be a different discussion. I uninstalled then reinstalled TSC and AP weather 2.0 and things appear to be fine except this engine snafu. The correct engine png files are in their respective locomotive folders. Both engines are F7’s but with different road names. The engine I’m trying to load came with the route. Could use some help…thanks, Rich
Thinking hard, not using QD soooo much... First, the steps you are supposed to take: you pick a class/livery, then you pick a consist. The trick is, the class/livery can be confusing. Sometimes the livery differs and I'm not sure which one it will show after selecting the consist. In any event, a couple screenshots would be indeed helpful: 1) after picking the class (default choice), 2) after clicking consist, 3) in-game.
At the TSC quick drive engine selection I pick the Feather River Canyon add-on route. When I open the select engine screen I click on the WP F7 but the UP F7 is displayed. I’ve tried choosing the UP F7 and it is rightfully displayed. I even tried all the engines on the same page as the WP F7 and all appropriately displayed except for the WP. If I select the WP FP7 (from a different page) it displays. I don’t recall if the WP F7 was included with the FRC route. I also have the WP FP7 CZ loco add-on as a FYI. The respective Locomotive Folders have the appropriate image png files. I’ve cleared the TSC cache multiple times in my attempts. I uninstalled then reinstalled TSC and also no issues with file integrity. I uninstalled and reinstalled my library of DLC but no luck. This anomaly occurred after installing AP weather 2.0 so I reinstalled that also to no avail. Initially the AP app worked great in the FRC add-on but after messing up the TOD files I reinstalled the AP pack. Since then the weather doesn’t work along with the WP F7 predicament. AP support must be on vacation. I really appreciate any help you can provide! Rich
If you have a problem with one item of DLC reinstalling the entire TSC is a bit of overkill. When you "uninstalled then reinstalled TSC" how did you do that? Just unticking the DLC in the Steam Client does not remove the DLC. You need to find the relative folders and Delete them in Windows. When you reinstall you get a fresh copy instead of Steam giving you access to DLC on your computer. AP Weather - as this add-on is designed for UK/Europe routes I don't think it supports US routes. Non of those appear in the list of routes it applies to. https://www.armstrongpowerhouse.com/enhancements/general/sky_weather_enhancement_pack_2.0 It also says "Instructions are provided in the manual to apply this pack to other routes. Please note that this is on a no-support basis."
If I remember correctly I believe the directions were to delete the Railworks directory then do the reinstall. All my dlc/routes were present after the reinstall. The first time I went to uninstall a single route I unticked all the boxes except for the route I meant to uninstall and realized I did it bassakwards. I reinstalled the dozens of routes (none 3rd party) and eventually got to the result I wanted although unsuccessful. I did not delete any route folders so maybe that is my problem. Again the instructions I followed generally stated to work with the checkboxes along with the exit/enter Steam step. My request to AP was for a written instruction source other than YouTube. I’m hard of hearing and if the speech is too fast I have a hard time, even with headphones. I love British accents but add that to fast speech and I’m basically ska rude. I’ve watched videos with headphones on over and over. I did see the AP no support blurb. I’ve gotten used to resorting to trial and error in these situations. I’m pretty persistent so I’ll eventually get it figured it out. Thanks for responding…Rich
This issue shouldn't be related to AP at all. The EMD F7 in Western Pacific orange did come with Feather River indeed. Might conflict with Enhanced. There was also and EMD F7 in Western Pacific California Zephyr livery, separate DLC. I was asking for a screenshot because it's theoretically possible to create a consist that's named as WP but actually uses UP. The latter is from a much different pack, however. Might even be a custom consist for a workshop route. From what you describe, the issue might be tiny. Are you clicking on "WP F7" or "EMD F7"? The latter is the standard naming for all F7 variants except for a few special snowflakes. If so, it might default to a UP consist anyway, but a bit of scrolling should bring up the WP ones. Also, some trains have no QD consists, but you can create them. I was most recently digging for the BR Green Class 47 without success, except for the WSR version. (Notably, the old ones are called Class 47 Locomotive.)
Confirmed myself with a test. There are two F7 variants. Purely on the loco, I believe the WP is the oldest with the new naming scheme. However, there is a stray consist - I suspect the ACF coaches have been added much later, and for some reason this consist isn't named like the others. Still, alphabetically this is the first. (It's not that simple as there are 3 ACF liveries - UP, SP, RG - and 4 F7 liveries - UP, SP-BW, RG and SF, although the rest may not have consists, didn't check. The SP is essentially for Donner Pass. These are now part of the classic US assets, which generally follow the second, longer naming. This one is essentially a UP OCS, supplied for Cajon Pass, also used in one scenario.) Scrolling to the bottom selects the desired livery. The liveries in my list with this naming are B&O, CRR, GN, SP-BN and WP. Hope it clears up!
Hi Trizinya. I am very new to TSC so my problem could easily be operator error. From my recollection, after picking a route I’d select an engine, the WP F7 in this case (The WP F7 showed up on the engine list after the FRC route installation). Then clicking on consist I chose the top selection which was the CZ and passenger car consist which was an option prior to installing the enhanced version. I’ve run the route with Rio Grande, Southern Pacific, UP F’s or basically any engine on the roster. I installed AP to the FRC route and the first run was great, blue sky and white clouds with summer/clear/and daytime hours. Then I tried the same AP process on the Feather River Enhanced route (I copied the AP TOD to a FR enhanced TOD folder I placed in the featherriverext directory. I did change TOD file prefixes to match the enhanced weather files. This did not take affect when I opened the enhanced route and I and no longer got the sky on the FRC route. Both routes work with plain skies and the but the WP F7 engine is no longer off the roster (if that means anything). I didn’t delete anything as 749006 mentioned so that might be the problem. I’m unsure of what specifically to delete. I’m finding conflicting directions but am unsure of the “2 ways to skin a cat” proverb. At this point I don’t know if it’s a TSC or AP issue I’ve created. I leave it here for now. I can provide screenshots but let me know what you need. Thanks…Rich
The Engine and stock files would not be affected by the AP Weather pack - only if you changed or deleted them would the problem occur.
Installing AP weather to some US routes will give effects due to the azimuths being set to London (or something like that lol), I recommend you read Spikee1975's posts about it, he did say he'd post an excel sheet I don't know if he did or whether it slipped his mind though. One of his posts about it after a quick search - https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/ap-clouds-question.78323/#post-788920
Yes but doesn't have anything to do with QD locos, the only "effect" you have when using AP weather on southern US routes that the sun is too low for that region Hang on I'll post the US parameters soon.
Ahh I missed the QD part tbh, my bad. Oh ok, I thought there were skybox issues like lines through the sky or parts of it not showing, I must be thinking of something else entirely then. Cool, I can add them to my nice fresh install then, thanks.
Correction to above. The WP F7 does show up in the roster but when selected a UP F7 shows up in QD window. Trying to figure the QD engine snafu and the sky & cloud problem might be too complex. They could be related however as everything, including AP functioning in FRC was prior to me attempting to add AP to FR enhanced route. Regarding assets/AP/WeatherEP/TimeOfDay weather files placement in FRC, I navigated to DTG/featherriver and used 7zip to open featherriverassets.ap. I then copied the featherriverassets.ap ToD folder to the assets/DTG/featherriver directory and closed the featherriverassets.ap file leaving it fully intact. I deleted the 4 weather files in the newly placed DTG/featherriver/TimeOfDay folder leaving me with an empty ToD folder. I then went to AP/WeatherEP/TimeOfDay folder files and copied (not moved) them to the DTG/featherriver/ToD folder. I opened TSC to QD FRC. Success, clouds! Got brave and basically did the same procedure but noticed featherRiverextassets.ap weather files had a different convention than the WeatherEP/TimeOfDay folder. I copied the folder to the featherriverext/ToD folder. I changed the AP weather files over to the featherriverext.ap file names and deleted the 4 AP named files from the folder. I read the route will use the featherriverext/ToD weather files and ignore the featherRiverextassets.ap/TimeOfDay stock weather files. I cleared the TSC cache and rebooted the computer. The AP weather didn’t work and after poking around I decided to reinstall TSC and the route files according to a forum discussion as explained in one of my posts. Did not intend to write a book but wanted to fully explain what led to the WP F7 making the UP F7’s appear instead. And also make AP stop working on the FRC route. Otherwise TSC runs as it always did.
Feather River Extended only uses one season file - TimeOfDay\default.bin. Just create a TimeOfDay folder there and copy AP's summer.bin there, then rename it to default.bin
