I'd just love DTG to produce and publish a London Underground Sim.
They can definitely do it, and they've proven their abilities with the Bakerloo Line.
With a dedicated team of coders, game engine builders, photographers, designers, sound designers, play testers, lighting designers and a director - to make this dream come true would be awesome.

Make it immersive, even more than before. With detailed stations, sounds, guard mode, announcer mode, operations room mode (as well as driving and even second driving) as well as a free roam mode. Basically take TSW4 and use the Unreal Engine - add more modes to the game, to run concurrently with the existing game and live a life working on the London Underground.

It can be done, far harder coding has been done for other sims. It might take five years of production, but it would be totally worth it and the financial reward on core game sales would cover all production costs and more - such is the global demand for a game like this. Then there's always add-on's... what about an add-on for the hidden stations of the London Underground? Explore the Wartime Train Networks? The Post Office train line? All the various train stocks that go with these add-on's plus train stocks through history?

The game could even be a working project between Dovetail Games, TFL and the Transport Museum. How cool would that be? All the reference material and knowledge combined with the skill of DTG? That's a dream team.

Its a really good suggestion actually! But It us a highly ambitious project that has an unknown demand behind it. Sure, on the forums there are quite a few people that would love this, however it is unknown on a more broader level outside of the forums.

I think I would prefer it in TSW tbh, it being separate would probably destroy its chances in TSW.

Dovetail could even work with the London Transport Museum in Covent Garden, London, to allow the game to be played across different time eras. There is so much history to the London Underground and I notice so many suggestions for it here being set in the 1970s to the present, ignoring nearly 90 years of history that made the line what it is today.

If DTG venture onto the LT/LU network again, what's the point of doing as a standalone game rather than keeping in the TSW paradigm? You are never going to get more than one contiguous line per route, so ideas of changing at Oxford Circus from the Bakerloo to Victoria line are a bit fanciful, sadly.

    A bit fanciful?
This is why nothing will ever change. Without innovation and breaking new barriers, we’ll get nowhere. Dare to dream OldVern… dare to dream.

Oh it would be great, but I just can’t see that level of vision and determination at a company who threw in the towel on steam traction when the going got a bit tough.

This forums page has engaged me right from the start. I dream of having more London Underground/ Overground experiences and I do believe that your company put more effort into foreign routes. It might be time to break that barrier and create an experience just about the Underground. I must admit that I was very disappointed with the roadmap and I was wondering whether this game would become possible. I play the Bakerloo line everyday despite it being two games old. I am looking forward to the Goblin Line and I am hoping that more London Underground/ Overground content will feature. Sorry to disturb and I hope that this thread created by SasUK01 will give you an insight on the popularity of London Underground/Overground routes. It would be great if you could cooperate with TFL to make this possible. Thanks and I am looking forward to future content.

I am more of a fan for Vienna U-Bahn (their latest X Wagen is GORGEOUS), but then, even London Underground would be nice, why not :)

and more stuff there like... changing ends... maybe automatic changeover (like in Vienna where they activate a telephone-like thing near the end of the platform, the train goes a bit, switch changes, and the train reverses onto the track for other direction)...

Yeah. They have some spectacular plungers on certain London Underground routes which informs the driver on the other end that the train is ready. They use these on the Jubilee line and many other lines.

That is really clever. Subway routes are just so engaging. I would love to have way more underground routes.

I'm surprised nobody's mention the guard mode:
As far as I am aware, no guards operate on the London Underground network.

This post feel much like it is based on enthusiasm rather than what is practical... and I am all for it! Bring it on!

thats on U4, other lines might have it done differently - I believe some termini (I believe those that used to be terminus but after extensions only some services terminate there, like Aspernstrasse on U2) sometimes do it like, it unloads passengers, goes a bit further, switches tracks and the driver uses nearby miniplatform to change ends before he heads back

I would also do services in-game, or maybe as a mode... like, you would have to make several change-ends runs... with AI trains before and after you... cos IRL, I will use Vienna again as an example cos I know the system quite well now... any delay or disruption can cause hilarious things - like this one time when there was some disruption/accident on U1, and since those trains go close after each other even in regular service, this caused many trains to bunch up - I was just resting at Alte Donau station and had like 5 trains come in 5mins when the disruption ended :D

the thing about subway service is super-tight schedule, with trains before and after you, also having to stop with surgical precision on a platform

so, would be nice if this thing brought that tension aspect into the mix... cos while subway trains might be slower, they still have to run off fast and brake shortly after, rince and repeat, while keeping to supertight schedule, so they dont disrupt service and keep ppl moving :P

The tight schedules add to the enjoyment of the routed.

I would love to be an Underground driver one day in real life. I am only young so I will continue to play simulation games and then hopefully I can become a tube driver when I am older. It seems like a waste of talent however the pay would be great and the job itself would be so much fun

You definitely did have guards on the underground who would signal the driver. Happened a lot on the District and Piccadilly Lines- saw them at Knightsbridge and Earls Court often.

They rarely have them anymore but it would be nice if they occurred on a rare occasion. I will continue dreaming for another London Underground route

I just wanted to say that this was the thread that I was mentioning in the livestream. I understand that I was not clear and I apologise for that. However, I would really appreciate it of you could read through this thread whenever you have time.

The last Guard Operated Underground Service ran on the 27th of January 2000, it's odd to think a system as modern as the tube had guards going into the 21st Century, even only for a small amount of time :D

Great article included below journaling the events of the day.

    Hello Matt,
Could you say what part of the stream? I think there's a couple of points where you could've been referring to the idea.
    Many thanks :)

I hope that this idea will be recreated. It was one of the streamathon events if I can remember correctly
