Didn't read like a condemnatory statement to me, it reads like a justification.

As usual, there's people having issues (many which are true, reproducible and documented) with the game or its advertised features, which is absolutely valid for any commercial product you're spending money on. Nobody is to judge whether you should keep your mouth shut and accept a product or customer treatment you don't feel is right. You are free to speak here and give your personal feedback.

And then there's (a few) people only having issues with other people.

Strictly speaking, it was false advertising (and would have been even when in Early Access under german law, according to a german lawyer discussing the "The Day Before" situation a few weeks ago). For me, it's not a big deal, so I don't have an issue as I don't need that feature.

But totally understanding the frustration, as we are talking about a commercial product in the first place.

Juice's comments aren't much different from Gabe Newell's famed comments about piracy.

    Section begins at 1:06.

If a major industry figurehead like him can say it I really fail to see how Juice's comments are so awful.

To those defending DTG, I would just say "so what?"

My customers expect me to deliver what I promise in full and on time, and failure to do so is a breach of contract. If I have issues delivering, that is my problem not their's. Expectation management is my responsibility, I need to avoid undue hype, and if I need more time, the onus is on me to communicate early, completely, and regularly.

This is an absolute basic when it comes to managing the customer relationship.

Whilst it is better they get things right and not make things worse by releasing poor quality updates that break the game, they do still have a responsibility to fully manage expectations.

I've been here five years, just reading the forum, and playing these games even longer than that. This is the first thread where my frustration has led me to feel the need to comment. I've really enjoyed playing TSC and the various iterations of TSW across PC and PlayStation, but in recent weeks, I've started to feel like spending even more money with this company is unwise.

Performance in managing the customer relationship, has not been good enough, and urgent improvements are needed if trust is to be rebuilt with core customers.

Never said it's okay to pirate games. Weren't you the one blabbering about comprehension skills earlier?

This forum is a like well for dtg, any criticism is just being drown deep down. Only outside activity has some impact, like reviews in e-stores. Be smart, get your opinion there, every star less in review, do more than hundreds words here.

To take this back to the thread topic, DTG said right from the start that the suspension system would NOT be in TSW4 at launch. So I fail to see where a false advertising claim arises.

They said it would be added in the Winter Core update. Which has come and gone. It was sold as a feature of TSW4, that would be coming "Soon" after release.

Hi, apologies, only just seen your comment. I guess that's true, but in the engineering teams I lead at work, we've come to accept that there is always "tech debt", there just is. And you can either hide it and pretend its not there, or you can accept the fact that it exists, log it, prioritise it, and have the fight with Product about debt vs new features. Even if it creates some difficult conversations, they can be had as much in the open as you're allowed/comfortable with. But hiding it (much like monetary debt) is rarely, if ever the right thing to do.

Let's see, I suspect not much will change, but think offering reasonable examples of what works elsewhere might as least spark a discussion inside DTG.

Unfortunately TSW has accumulated a truly massive amount of technical debt, and DTG have never shown the slightest inclination of dealing with it.

I will do, because its not exactly wrong.

You'd expect a huge number of services (whether driveable or AI) on a rush hour route, regardless of whether there are passengers or not.

I recall DTG saying "new suspension" was in fact a "one person beavering away in a corner" type of project. I imagine they have either moved on or hit a technical road block. Either way, DTG's investment in new developments is impressive in its apparent lack of commitment.

Rush hour implies both a larger number of services and by association, more passengers.

Yeah, but what rush hour route wouldn't have a large number of services? There'd be more of an uproar if those services didn't exist.

I think they really should have thought about it more and actually call it "Spring Suspension Update". If it even doesn't come in spring, it's still more or less about springs.

I've seen a few of these in the past and don't really enjoy them (plus they can be really cumbersome to keep up to date).

This is pretty clean though, focusing on main topics, with good signposting. We'd need to do some investigation, but thank you for sharing. Can't promise it'll come to fruition, but we can have a discussion within the team to see if something like this could work for us.

    ----------

As a side-note - I don't think anyone is suggesting pirating games is a good thing to do, so let's leave that discussion there.

Well, It's March. Any update on the Suspension system. It's now been 7 months since TSW4 was released.

Already mentioned, we'll have a (positive!) update in the Roadmap tomorrow of it in action on the Class 66.

If it works on a locomotive, we are probably closer to its release than we think. BTW, does it have to be done individually for each loco, or is there a framework that, when applied to a certain loco, works? (asking whether the suspension will be the same for each loco or different)

Remember we've had a form of the new suspension system on the training centre 323 since launch...

It’s also on the pacer but the TC 323 and pacer use spring suspension rather than air which is what they were talking about

Think it was probably announced as there was very little else to justify a new game.

Each loco requires physics changes if I remember correctly. There probably is a core thing but it still requires the physics to be changed individually

Surprisingly tiny Tram Sim is way better than "great" TSW in terms of driving immersion, you really feel and hear it is a railed vehicle. So DTG go to View App and learn how to make your trains feel more trainish and more like real ones ;)

Ok so I've read the roadmap...and it implies it's only for the 66...at some point in the future.

That's a progress update - i.e. that we've managed to make it work on the Class 66, and the next stage is moving onto other trains.

We talked about providing it for the core locos within TSW4 core routes (Vorarlberg's 4024, ECML's Azuma, Antelope's F125), so that's the next stage.
