I think the price is quite reasonable to be honest. A new route with a brand new train. There are plenty of sales for those who wish to get it cheaper.

It should have quite intense urban scenery which I would imagine takes a lot longer to model than a mostly rural line. It looks like it will be busy with plenty of AI services. A run on it will be 45 minutes which is reasonable.

I will be picking it up on the 19th unless there is something glaring I don't like about it.

i wouldnt say plenty of AI services it is a 15 minute service frequency so a 45 minute run you will pass 3 other 710s and the odd class 66

Plus all the other services on the lines you cross, the article quotes 1,000 services in total including AI and playable services.

How about a buffer puffer railtour? Would add interest, Cathcart circle was one of my favourite British routes when it was released despite being almost as short as this one.

Most of the AI service layers will come from the ECML with 801's and 700s running on it, I believe the NLL also has it's own timetable with AI 710's running on it.

you are going to see them passing below you they will not be running paralell to this line they pass under it so you will see them for the best part of 1 minute if that.

I didn't realise it was 45 minutes a run. I thought id read elsewhere that it was shorter than that. Must've missed that lol my bad :)

average is that give or take. One other thing i noticed is as well that we have no depot to start and end services on this route. Only one train will stable at east ham depot (C2C) depot at night so startingand ending services on the timetable will be slighly unrealistic if you are starting the first train at gospel oak etc

45 minutes is a decent run time. About all I can spend nowadays.

That seems a long time for 13 miles does it not? Is it pretty low speeds or times at station?

i am in the same boat as you with regards to that about 1 hour max does me. But only so many times you can drive up and down the same route before it gets repetitive in a sim. Glossop line is another example.

Its very simple... If you run a stopping passenger service that nearly stops by every tree you have enough at 1hr max... For example Birmingham Crosscity is for me a little to long and will be a little boring after a while how beautiful this route is.

Very uninspiring route, at a very uninspiring price personally. I am sure some may enjoy it, however I would do a run each way, start another run and think sod this I'll go and do a run on BPO/ECML/MML and never return.

When Glossop was £19.99 and this is £24.99 it is too expensive, yes lots of layers but does require a certain level of DLC. Will only buy when the price comes down in the sales. Too short and too much, especially if you compare the forthcoming Fifth route which I assume will be £29.99 and also Blackpool to Preston which was released at £29.99, IMO Suffragette line is £5 too much for a release buy.

Glossop didn't come with a new train though, the development of the 710 has to be taken into consideration and it is a nice little train as well.

It's a fairly boring suburban route, running on the outskirts of London.

I don't understand why they didn't do Liverpool Street to Chingford or Enfield Town/Cheshunt.
It runs from Liverpool Street through Bethnal Green, Hackney and Walthamstow/South Tottenham. You have a train depot at the end of the Chingford route and services detach and join throughout the day.
You have the City of London skyline visible for large amount of the route.

you see, I disagree with this. Given that one racing map with two useless vehicles for the one season was abysmal, I wouldn't use Snowrunner as an good example.

The additional out of season paid bundles that are either overpowered (or overpriced) to high heaven or totally useless, Snowrunner is now a complete mess of a game.

I'm also wondering, given TfL's abysmal financial state, whether the emphasis on 'official TfL licensing' is requiring some form of monetary donation, hence the price?

Surely it is a case of each to their own. Personally I am happy to pay £25 for a new route with a new train. These "self contained" routes are often my favourites and I will get a lot of use out of it. Obviously for others it isn't worth it.

Something is worth what you are willing to pay for it.

Or you can try creating the route yourself. Just because it has little or no scenery doesn't make the job any easier

Self contained routes attract me more, simply because they are more complete given the limited scope they have.

I hope you have your tinfoil hat ready!

I think if there was to be a subscription model if would not be compulsory as I am sure DTG have already got the message it isn't popular, unless it is and we are in the minority. Still mountains and molehills.....

Words cannot express how deeply concerned I am about how the 710 is going to sound. I mean fresh new sounds that is in no other decent train simulator type game. This is gonna be one hell of a ride.

I have a feeling I may pass on this, or wait and see. Looks good, you can clearly see a lot of effort has been put in, but I was hoping for a new feature to entice me in for a short route (AI delays for example, having constant greens can get a bit dull after a while). I also have a sneaky suspicion that something else is brewing up in the background, maybe a UE upgrade or something.

A ue upgrade wouldn't make sense. 4.27 doesn't bring much benefits and Ue5 would require everything to be rebuilt.

Guess it could be a holding project, similar to Glossop last year which foreshadowed ECML.

I don’t totally agree with price being attached to route length. A dense route with multiple stations and cities to build is more work than a wide open field that takes 2 hours to cross.

This one looks good so far. Especially the stations and branding they’ve included.

In this screenshot one of the doors is open on the train on the right. When the doors enable passengers press the door button to board as per irl and the doors will automatically close after amount of time. That could be the new feature we see here.

It could also be the door that the photo taker opened in order to sit in a passenger seat and use an external camera to grab this screenshot;)

You could say if you did not have Birmingham Cross City Line you were getting a brand new train so semantics really. Not a train you can use everywhere either.

Do you think £19.99 for Glossop is justified? I mean its only 13 miles and a reskinned train. I would expect Goblin to be priced at £19.99 and Glossop at £14/15.99

    That depends.

Is Glossop a new route with a new train, or a new route with a reskinned train?

If the former (for those who don't own BCC), then yes.

The 710 can also be used on the Lea Valley Lines with 3 destinations (Cheshunt, Enfield Town and Chingford), all running from Liverpool Street, and the Watford Junction Line from Euston. Hopefully in the fullness of time it can be used again. Operators that could run alongside it includes Avanti West Coast with its Pendolino’s on the WCML (as far as Watford Jct) and Greater Anglia from Liverpool Street. Let’s hope it gets to become layers one day. If they chose Greater Anglia around 2020-21 they could add the Class 321 to the route as well as the newer 720, there was once a rumour going around here that this model was receiving some attention with an alleged online leak of one under construction - does anyone remember that?
