A head's gone? Is that a phrase for those that don't like hearing criticism of a product? People here seem to get up in arms about the criticisms of the sounds of the 150. I don't see the issue with saying that it is awful or sounds wrong. Of course, if there were no criticisms, you and others wouldn't have an issue

Is this thread just going to be people going back and forth on the 170 sounds? If that's all we're doing, I think it's best it stops as it is getting nowhere. Don't want this thread locked over a silly argument, do we?

Surely there are other things Fife Circle related that can be discussed. I, for one, am actually looking forward to it. The sounds aren't the attraction, it's the modelling that will entice me. Do I wish the sounds could be better? Yes. Will I let it hamper my experience? No.

I'm not buying this route expecting the sounds to be 100% accurate, I know what I'll be walking into by purchasing the route.

The Forth Bridge looks incredible. Rivet have absolutely no idea how to do the physics and the sounds. But they are damn good at modelling.

We can agree to disagree with that. He takes great pleasure in taking threads off topic in the past.

back to this subject and the latest screenshots look fantastic really looking forward to this route. I have it in TSC and it’s enjoyable with a nice mix of fast and slow runs. When the 158 is added to this as well will be a fantastic route.

Damm! The scenary looks brilliant! Rivet are really good at modeling! The only things that let them down is sounds, phycics and lack of bug fixes. If they could improve those aspects rivet games could be one of the top partner developers like they are in TSC.

I am always happy to see criticism. I don't appreciate the personal dig.

A head's gone means reason goes out the window and people turn to absolutes and guesses, rather than actually evaluating anything.

Can't see it anywhere in this thread, so apologies if this is a repost; but there's a couple of Fife images in the Roadmap: FifeCircle-WIP-01.jpg FifeCircle-WIP-03.jpg

The roadmap also says the 170 will have automatic announcements and "working GSM-R", which I believe is a first.

You know, Rivet really cannot be faulted on their modelling. That does look very nice!

Also fair play to Rivet to look at adding in the Levenmouth extension, one thing I will say is they do try to give new things a try.

Credit also on the auto announcements.

I believe it's fully working GSMR which will be very cool. Also I heard because ScotRail released ALL their announcement recordings to the public, rivet are probably using the irl announcements.

Rivet proves once again that they're excellent at modelling assets. I just hope that they can sort out the 170's sounds before final release as it sounds nothing like a 170. Also a wee shame that the variant with the extra light clusters have been omitted, but oh well I can live with it.

It depends on if "releasing them" was for private useage or business applications.

which just goes to prove that people shouldnt slam a developer when they release a WORK IN PROGRESS video. Where have rivet also said they had access to a train i have saw nothing confirming this from them.

I hope they've used the actual announcements, though it'll probably be the same voice from Edn, I do wonder if it'll have announcements play for stations on EDN though

That would be nice but pretty sure the recordings were released before Edinburgh to Glasgow. Honestly I don’t think the voice they used was too far off the real ones anyway so fine by me either way.

IIRC they are free to the public but I think there might be commercial use restrictions on it.I may be wrong though.

Screenshots, IMO, look pretty damn good. I tend not to get too excited about Rivet routes after some stumbles they've had but I will be cautiously optimistic here... I am mostly hoping that the physics/feel of the rolling stock are done right.

I guess with a backup being that we know the Skyhook 158 is good and will be coming over at a later date.

I believe Edinburgh to Glasgow was released February last year so it makes sense why it wasn't included

Alex just answered a question about the layering of this and edinburgh - glasgow route and it is not being layered. Rivet have been asked but Matt said as of now dont expect anything.

I think the people going on about the "Work in progress" stuff do need to remember that it is Rivet here. They don't have an amazing history of going back and fixing content so I totally understand people's worries about sound not being ideal.

But saying that I hope they do get it right because it seems like cleaner the release the better the content for Rivet as post production fixes don't tend to be high on the agenda :)

Would require licensing. I think because it is a commercial product, it doesn't automatically grant them access to using the real ones

There was another 2 brand new screenshots shown off in the Roadmap video. One of them was a 170 going over a small Viaduct and the other one was the forth rail bridge again but further out and it just looked absolutely stunning. Is anyone able to find them as I can’t find them anywhere.

I have just cheated and taken screenshots from the stream rather than searching the internet for them, but again both nice looking scenes:

I will say it's great to see that announcements will now trigger automatically, and the route itself looks very good.

It just makes the sound issues even more irritating. It looks like it could be a truly great route if they could get it right. I know Rivet have apparently said they're looking into sounds, but considering their past record I'm not holding my breath. As I've said previously the fact is they still showed the preview with those sounds, so they must be at least close to the final product.

The one with the Forth Bridge in the background is by far my favourite one we have seen so far. They have done good hiding the other 2 bridges. We still haven’t seen them yet :D. Thanks for uploading them Matt. Really appreciated.

No sweat mortal1234 mate as I say the bridge is impressive (sorry for the tag but the quote didn't work).
Yes, I were actually thinking something very similar when I took the screenshots. It is certainly looking impressive!

I think it's time to say Rivet are getting the hang of scenery.

I haven't seen the livestream, so what context is that in? As in there won't be class 385 layers or there will be 385 layers but the 170 won't layer to EDN.

From what i could gather they confirmed there will be no layering between the 2 routes. Which is kind of funny after i got shot down by members here when they claimed IT WILL layer and i said to wait for official announcement which we got tonight. Funny how quiet they all are now giving how loud they were in the past TRYING to say i was wrong.

No layers on edinburgh. They are thinking about it, but it won't be something coming at launch.

What no layers full stop? Were there any sort of reasoning, because if not that is rather baffling.

They did not say why not matt said he will put the question to rivet or already has etc but said not to expect it soon. I wonder if i will get an apology from the group who told me i was wrong a few weeks back. I mean i could name them all here and tag them but lets see if they are as quick to come and admit they were wrong i wont hold my breath as admitting you are wrong seems something the youth of today dont take to kindly to.

It's 10pm, half of the forum will be sleeping or near sleeping for work/school in the morning.
I don't think anyone owes an apology to anyone for that, either.
