Who Thinks Dtg Should Do More Console Exclusive Us Freight Content

I think its time to post this ..with TSW currently the only good train sim game on consoles , and those who play on PC have many good choices of other train sim games with decent US freight ..Who Would want DTG to consider doing CONSOLE ONLY exclusive US freight routes ..seems there is too much division between PC and Console only players ..maybe DTG should do a console only train sim version since they dominate have niche in console market and no other competition in sight i really even wonder if Sim Rail will ever make it to consoles they claim its comming but no date on the radar

 

Bugger off with that 'exclusive' stuff please. Nobody benefits from that.

 

This doesn't help anyone but waste development time and resources....

At most DTG should be doing new locations not yet in most train simulators.....

 

I do not see what dovetail could get out of doing exclusive only content apart from less sales? If you are pc user you are not going to repurchase all your content again for some exclusive content (although I bet they would love it of people did)

As it has to be developed on the PC the OP proposition is just... absurd. You are not going to develop a route and then cut out 50% of your potential market!

 

Because im console only thats why PC player get more option s .also im not investing in a pc rig PC more high maintenance. Not savy on that stuff drivers mods settings etc ..

The notion of " console only " anything in TSW is arrant nonsense.

 

PC players want more US freight too, consoles are not an exclusive club.

 

I will bet most of the posts on here are from the PC crowd ...plus you guys get the level editor Console cant have it..the level editor is a PC exclusive ..i pay the same price for TSW as PC players but people mad cause im suggesting console only content idea so far too the consist editor available beta to PC only ..

 

I've got Console and not a PC and think that's a terrible idea. You're cutting off a third of your customer base straight away.

Because PCs can run the editor, consoles can't. It wasn't a concious choice by DTG. Your idea is terrible.

Maybe thats a better idea just make a Train sim world fitted to console market .being PC can handle stuff that consoles cant .

 

Not sure what would you want to achieve with "console only" exclusivity. For players it doesn't make any sense, but only for publishers who get a better deal offer from the console manufacturer for making something that will potentially be popular to be exclusive on their console, to increase the sales of said console. Unless it's to make you feel better that you have something others can't have.

As for "PC exclusivity", it's simply that anyone can release their thing on PC without much of hassle, even as self published, but will have closed doors to consoles without negotiating agreements with their manufacturers.

I'd say DLC should be cheaper for PC users.

Joking aside, it's your own choice which platform you prefer. It's not that the Lord has gifted me a PC, I just wanted it, worked for it and spent the money for it. It's just a fact that if you want to get the most out of TSW or simulators in general, you need a PC.

And TSW is not that demanding, it ran at 62 FPS on my old first-gen i7-870+GTX1050Ti in HD, max settings, so if you're not needing 4K you don't even need a cutting edge gaming machine.

 

might be the opposite PC players have somthing against console ..have read posts in other forums on here one person posted about DTG should drop consoles iv e read more troll posts on here .,that enough is enough one sure popular , thats the thread i saw the post about ditching tsw for consoles ...maybe DTG shoulnt allow any negative threads about tsw ,, that would be a lot of threads gone if they did that .im allowed to express a opinion positive or negative and when somone go against the grain ..ooohhh the moderators need to close it ..

As an xbox player, exclusivity is the last thing I'd want. It's legit the reason why I'm trying to save up for a PC, because exclusive things are just becoming tiring.

I want everyone, PS, Xbox and PC to have fun and experience the game without any barriers. There's no reason WHY we should have console exclusive routes in the first place since it just excludes profits from the PC market.

Oh yeah and PC has the Editor currently... so it'd be nice if they stayed so there'd be a chance that PC Community created projects could one day be put on the creation club.

I like to see both sides of the discussion, but this is just one of those suggestions that I can't really see the logic behind it.

 

Not great business sense to make a type of route that already isn't very popular but then cut your sales potential by 30-50% whilst maintaining the same development costs. That's a one-way road to insolvency.

I would say it is more likely to be the opposite way around given that it is developed on PC with a development cost to convert it to console.

Definitely don't think they took the news well that the US freight content for the game had fallen off the development table, and nobody was trying to pick it up and shove it back on the table for the foreseeable future......

I play on Xbox, and don't want any exclusives. The whole "gatekeeping" content from other people just doesn't make sense.

The argument being made regarding consoles is a bit like buying a bag of frozen chips then complaining that you can’t use them to style your hair. Just bizarre.

It’s not necessary nor smart to cut PC off from any TSW content. Even though there are plenty of PC players that fantasize about cutting console players off from the series. You guys don’t have to like each other but you’re going to coexist for the foreseeable future.

 

Why would DTG make a decision that actively loses them money?

 

Making it exclusive does nothing but close a market, other games should be more open to console where they can but that’s a separate topic

That a side and the exclusive stuff removed it’s just as any US freight dlc, no offence but it’s a pretty pointless proposal. It’s just a proposal to do away with a PC players for no reason.

Lots of unnecessary piling-on here as usual. Not everyone spends 24/7 on the forums or has been into the train sim community for 20+ years to know how everything works.

OP's idea doesn't make sense economically for TSW but that doesn't mean a console competitor wouldn't be a good thing for the entire community.

Especially if it's developed just for PS5/Xbox Series it could look and run quite nicely, which might actually put some pressure on DTG to up their game.

Edit: also the mockery about the editor on console isn't a great look tbh- i think the PC community should be pushing to have mods available on console rather than trying to shut down any conversation about it. I realize the editor itself wouldn't work on console but no reason the creations can't be shareable.

 

The problem is that if mods have to be distributed on consoles, then there's less freedom on what modders can do. Right now, mods distributed on sites like train sim community don't need to follow any licensing rules, guidelines, or restrictions that DTG sets.

 

easily solved by the mods that don’t meet requirements are simply PC only ones, and the ones that do go on console.

happens on other games, Bethesda doesn’t allow copyright mods on console, but they still appear on PC
