Kind of an old news but due to Czech Railways acquiring new Vectrons and mandatory ETCS operation on the main routes since January 2025, all 12 remaining ČD 151 locomotives are supposed to be decommissioned by the end of this year.

I think it's a sad news. ČD 151s are absolutely badass in every aspect and I think no other locomotive can match the style that these things have but on the other hand, it's probably time to move on. It's not like I didn't have enough opportunities to see them in regular operation.

nice loco, but... I am a fan of Vectron/Taurus, so I actually like the change :) ... they might sell those to some other country where it may yet find use - I believe there are "Okuliarnik" type locos in service in Peru and such countries which are not so picky about fancy stuff and just need working and relatively reliable locos :)

RIP, never to be forgotten though. Hopefully a few of them can be put in a museum. :)

They look cool locomotives. I've seen a lot of CD 371 "Turbo********" around Dresden, but never been near a CD 151.

Some Czech locomotives in TSW would be amazing, especially with the cross-border routes coming recently.

They sure look cool but I mostly have a soft spot for the noise. Sound of the huge cooling fans spooling up during departures.

As for cross-border runs, it's really not likely in this case as these locomotives can only run under 3kV DC power (which is also supposed to be replaced with 25kV AC) and run mostly on route from Prague to Ostrava and Ostrava-Žilina. On the bright side, ČD 350s (which is the dual-mode variant) are getting ETCS and all the other goodies.

That's a shame, I like these despite only seeing them (151s don't operate the trains I usually take, 362s do).
As Tomas wrote, the spooling up noise is fantastic.

CD 371 is also known as DB Baureihe 180 originally Deutschen Demokratischen Republik ( German Democratic Republic) Deutsche Reichsbahn Baureihe 230. The latter fits German routes 1990s onwards
