I'm really hoping it's the SWML with the 444/450/455 covering W'loo - Portsmouth Harbour via Guildford, with a potential extension to Basingstoke and include the 158/159, which could be easier to include as we already have the 158 in EMT livery. Push it back to the Stagecoach SWT days. Or if that's not too popular, W'loo - Salisbury. With the recent images of 455868 in it's magnificent BR Blue livery, I really want a chance to drive the 455 in TSW (especially before they are gone!!). Someone mentioned GWR are getting them to see off the last of the Castle Sets, even said his friend started training on them in Bristol!! Take it with a pinch of salt though, maybe they are trying to stir up some drama. XD
It'd be pretty interesting to see some GWR 175s.. I can't imagine a GWR 175 at all, I hope it's true though, they're such young units it would be such a shame for them to be scrapped so soon. Fingers crossed someone takes them on! Your route suggestion was a good one too - especially the 455 part, 868 looks absolutely stunning..! I've got a question; what commemorative livery looks the best out of these.. 313201? 455868? Or 507001?
DTG usually releases maps by geographic area, with obviously some exceptions: South East, Mid-England, Scotland etc... I think we'll have to wait until the next TSW to see anything Welsh. now DTG will dedicate itself to exploiting the licenses they already owns.
There is this nagging feeling in my head that it will be the wherry lines. Don’t know why but it just seems plausible to me.
I agree. It hasn't been touched by any third party or freeware developer in Train Sim classic. Would be nice to get a fresh UK route that hasn't been done before.
One thing to consider is that this route is the first new UK one coming in the wake of the TSW survey, when (we hope) the opinions and wants of the players will be fresh in the minds of the ones who make the route decisions. I do believe that network style routes with multiple end points such as Blackpool Branches and East Coastway are quite popular, so Wherry Lines also seems quite plausible to me too. Rivet is bringing us the Class 170, so it's pretty plausible I think to see a Greater Anglia retexture of the same unit. If we're really lucky they may even set it in the transition period in 2020 when Greater Anglia were bringing in their new fleet, so we may experience the 170 alongside the new Class 755s. Or they could pull a full on TSC remake and feature the DRS Class 37 and coaches, especially since they now evidently have licensing potential with DRS given that we have a Class 66 in their livery now. In a more down to earth and realistic expectation mind you, given recent trends with TSW releases, I think it more plausible that the route may be set in the present and come with only the Class 755, maybe if we're lucky it will come with both the 3 coach and 4 coach variants. Its big selling point would be both the first Greater Anglia route in the game, and the fact that (afaik) it would be the game's first electric/diesel hybrid. I would say however that if they did want to make a selling point of the 755's hybrid capabilities, I personally would rather it be on a route where you would actually get to use both modes, as opposed to a Class 700 situation where the services only get to make use of one of the two power modes. Something like Ipswich to Cambridge for example, where overhead electric could be used between Ipswich and Stowmarket and then diesel the rest of the way.
Easily 455868, that's the only one within a reasonable distance for me to catch, plus I adore 455s. My favourite third rail train alongside the 92.
Personally I would like to see a route with a modern diesel, a 172 would be ace for the goblin line which could then also be used to have a new route out of new street using the 172. That's not why I'm here anyway, I've missed the roadmap this week and wondering if anyone can please tell me the dates for goblin line and Fife circle? I vaguely remember that one of them is coming out on the 13th. Fife circle will probably be my preference over goblin line although I will get that at some point too.
Note you can always watch the streams again in case you missed them. Under YT Train Sim World > Live they are stored.
I have to go with 507001 in that case.. closest to me and it's the only one I've seen, although I'd love to see the others! Sadly North Wales isn't the closest to any 455 territory.
Yeah it is a bummer when you live far away from any notable places. I'd love to go and catch a few trains, but where I live makes it too expensive to even think about!!!!
Hopefully it will be route featuring another new operator. Transport for Wales or Trans-Pennine Express would be my guesses. It could be Avanti, but as others have stated a WCML route would probably be a flagship TSW5 base release. If it were a return to the southern region then I much prefer to see a SWT/SWR route or at least another place to use the Class 700. Greater Anglia and possibly c2c might be difficult since these TOCs seem hesitant on giving permission to use their branding based on previous attempts in TSC. This however cannot rule out using a historic operator such as NXEA or ONE, like what happened with East Midlands Trains on MML.
Yeah, we don't get much of anything exciting by me.. I used to get Colas twice a week and GBRf once a week but they had one trial run earlier this year and that's it.. nothing since. So my area is very boring at the moment aside from some 805 moves. Anyway - I need to stop getting people off topic on here!
So I'm gonna get this off my chest. Lately my gut feeling has been barking at me about the inclusion of the Class 800 wether it be this route or unannounced UK Loco DLC. I mean the 800 was "Highly Desirable" over the 801
Unless we are going to Lincoln, which is a great stretch of track, I don't think the 800 would be a highly desirable DLC, though included in another route possibly, but then an 802 is more likely as anything First group is unlikely, including GWR.
I would hope DTG wouldn't target this as an upcoming DLC. There are so many classes that aren't touched at all, that we don't really need similar variants yet IMO.
Other than in a new route ofc (for example TPE 802 if we got something like York to Newcastle, approx 1 hour 30)
I think C2C is finally in with a shout. Not only a superb network, it would showcase their new tidal system between Benfleet and Chalkwell stations, you have the huge container yard at Coryton and a few other assorted freight workings from Thurrock, or if set earlier, the oil tankers from Grays and Purfleet and Freightliners from Tilbury. Not to mention miles of wagons with cars and vans on them. Something for everyone in terms of scenery. City, urban, suburban, industrial, riverside, marshland, countryside, new towns, old castles, seaside (check tide charts for details though) and even a windmill. Two depots and lots of ECS workings to add to the immersion. In terms of rolling stock I'd prefer something other than just the 357s. 312s and 357s would be great. 357s with 720s also great. The 387s only ran set diagrams in the peaks so they wouldn't offer much in the way of variety.
My guesses are TSC Just Trains Metropolitan Line and the Hope Valley Line remade for TSW4. If ATS route this must be their TSC Chat Moss or Fen Lines also remade for TSW 4
Thanks. It looks like a Brighton Main Line cut in half in length, heading towards Essex. LOL, The line operator is the English branch of my country's railway company! I'm worried about the large amount of suggestions about Underground routes... I'm not a big fan of the Tube.
Yeah, but that’d be Hull Trains (802) and Lumo (803) which someone (non-DTG employee) mentioned may have licensing difficulties due to being first group.
Simple answer there… Give us Deltics, 47’s, 31’s and Cravens DMU’s in BR Blue. No licensing issues required.
Love this. The tide being different at Benfleet and between Leigh and Chalkwell would be amazing. And as you say, the route has such variety with city to coast and fields and marshes in between. And nice being a self contained route with two termini, options for services starting or finishing at Southend Central, Leigh on Sea, Pitsea, Laindon and Grays. Plus one big branch line ( Tilbury Loop ) and the smaller single Ockendon branch. Express services and stoppers. I hope this year is its year but I doubt it will be. If it does come out this year I will donate £50 to a charity of DTGs choice as a thank you.
That'd be a great one! Really hoping JT got them rethinking their stance on BR blue ngl. I'd love it to be historical. Not sure it will be though. Praying for anything other than a one handle lol
"If it does come out this year I will donate £50 to a charity of DTGs choice as a thank you." You know what? So will I. I've said it before and I appreciate working for what became LTS Rail for 7 years is a factor, but I would spend hours just in Timetable mode without getting bored because there's so much to see and so much variety of services.
In fact, recalling the first version of GWE, in TSW2020 the HST was also provided in First livery. Then this was removed with TSW2. I think it was due to licensing issues.
I can't speak for Matt P, but I am a similar age and grew up about 3 miles from him. If he's anything like me he'll be a big fan of London commuter routes, slam door BR and NSE era as well as modern commuter traction. There's no Network South East content either, which I'm sure is on his wish list.
What about Shrewsbury to Llandrindod Wells? The 158 could be included and driveable between Shrewsbury and Craven Arms with either an updated 150 or a new 153 working in pairs (or both) for the Heart of Wales service. Services meet at Llandrindod where crews will swap over with each other so S to LW represents a full out-and-back run.
for ECML south i'd be more than happy with intercity and 91s plus valenta HSTs although GNER would have been my first choice.
Scenery would be great but very limited gameplay with 4 trains a day in each direction. Cambrian from Shrewsbury to Machynlleth or Machynlleth to Pwllheli would offer slightly more service level.
…just thought, if The Riviera Line DID materialise (pre/post HST)…say 72-76, most of the stock already exists, Classes 101, 52, 47, 45, 37, 33, 31, Mk1 & 2… just need a Gresley Buffet & China Clay wagons, & maybe a 50 ! “A Dreamer of Beautiful Dreams” (name the movie).
Make that 3 donations, for all the reasons given in your and jamster47 posts above. Done properly, the LTS line has the potential to be as good as BPO.
Brilliant, thank you. So that’s £150 then to a charity of DTGs choice should c2c/LTS appear this year. Can we highlight this to Matt or the team somehow?
…maybe a good idea for a new DLC… Bucolic Mendip branch line, main line junction to Mallingford ! …oh wait it’s steam !!
Another one I would like, and throw around a lot in these threads is Newcastle to Carlisle. A very scenic section of track which would be nice if done well in game and has stock in game from all eras. Even if done in the more modern Northern era there would be 158s, 156s and 142s able to buzz about.
Correct and speaking of the 150 and 153 these can combine with the 158 due to their BSI couplers. 2 years ago 10 months and 3 days one can find the Cornish Main Line Class 150/2 combined with a BPO Pacer video link is below. The same logic applies to Heart of wales line due to BSI Couplers on Sprinters and Pacer
Ideally a route that will increases traffic at one of the existing bigger stations for me. Something out of new street or Piccadilly. Although the C2C route does seem pretty appealing too.
In practice the 142's and 143's did not work well coupled with other 15x classes. Due to the suspension on the Pacers compared to the Sprinters you would get a bit of bounce and play that could disrupt the connections through the electrical box, resulting in unsolicited brake applications. Often necessary to split and recouple the sets to get a "good" couple and in extreme cases the EBS would need to be operated on the leading set to get brake release, effectively making the train a failure if in passenger service (as it took out the passcom system).
I'm going to throw a curveball and say the Nottingham Lincoln line so that we have a link (-on, hoho) from MML to ECML, maybe with the line between Grantham and Nottingham thrown in too Bring on the route extensions I say
It is also not unthinkable, The class 170 is already in the works, who knows what expansion can be done with it
