It sounds a bit muffled, not the throaty sound you hear in real life though certainly better than the 150 which doesn't even sound like a 150.
I don’t think the route as a whole looks awful, but there are far too many bits of it that are downright terrible, there is one house which is beyond anything we’ve seen in TSW & it overhangs the line. Seeing that is just going to rip me right out of an enjoyable ride.
Matt only referenced the build in reference to Announcements, as far as I could tell. Nothing to saying anything else will be different.
I already see many mods to fix this coming! The night seems ok. It's nice that they've done a little dirty under the bridges.
Oh no they’ve done it again. “Oh look we are using the wrong build!” And then panicking and working all hours to try remedy. £30 is a lot of cash for folk, and this route looks like was done by the work experience kids in parts. Never thought I’d say this, but DTG have schooled them on route building this last week with the GOBLIN coming out.
I think it’s important to note DTG didn’t create the route, so their job in marketing for it does rightly take a back seat, it is down to the developer for that. it’s the same thing for Microsoft and their respective 3rd parties on flight sim for example.
DTG are the publisher, and I doubt this is the first time they’re seeing any of this. MSFS players are having similar issues at the moment though with the likes of CaptainSim carpet bombing the marketplace with poor quality assets. The publishers get a pass because they didn’t make it, but in my eyes they’re ultimately responsible for what comes into their game.
that does actually look pretty nice, (if only TSW core was capable of increased long distance scenery)
right to say if it’s in the game or not I agree. but marketing and talking issues, development, plans that I think is a no. At the end of the day they can only praise/critique or give no comment on any product what isn’t there’s. Edit: I imagine what probably should be happening with preview streams is they need developers and the community manger of the product on the stream alongside in order for it to be like a typical preview stream what we are often most used to with DTG, a lot of information often comes from them, whereas without the developers all the questions on development are directed towards their community manager, which is the equivalent of putting all the questions concerning how it was done and what you’re developing from here towards JD or Alex or Jan on the DTG side, which isn’t there area very much.
I was expecting an improvement, but I see that compared to Bernina Line, a step backwards has been taken...
I honestly don't think it looked half bad, it is missing a few things but it does look pretty good imo
I will throw Rivet a bone here and say that does look quite nice given that I was at North Queensferry not too long ago. Shame about the road bridges not lighting up though. The MAIN thing letting me down are the 170 sounds. There's definitely resemblance of a 170 there, but it's just...off. Idk, I'm torn on this one honestly.
The scenery around Edinburgh looks fine however the scenery the other side of the forth bridge was not so good. Mike.
I agree although there are one or two awful houses but I don't think it is as bad as some of this thread is making out. It definitely needs a busier timetable though. I do wonder if this wasn't a Rivet route if some of the "heat" would have been dialled down a bit!
I've seen some pretty horrific stuff from Rivet in the past but I don't think I've ever been as shocked or disgusted as I have been with the Fife circle preview. Untextured buildings Dirt brown ballast Single type of vegetation/trees Plain land scenery Zero ECS runs or freights (what was even the point of releasing that 66 Livery pack then Rivet?) Untextured assets Broken announcement Audio This is going to be an absolute hard NO for me, this route is not even worth £25, let alone £30, Rivet really do need to start actually caring more about the content they create as it's utterly shambolic & disgraceful.
When is just trains next route I wonder. Blackpool lines set the ball or what this sim can be and that is just outstanding. Sadly rivet at the moment have let themselves down again. If this is a wrong build I hope for sake of them the release build is a huge improvement but I honestly can’t see it happening sadly which is a shame as the hype for this route when announced was incredible.
This comparison photo needs to be kept as a reminder to anyone that thinks theres a line that devs wont stoop below in order to get quick sales for minimum effort.
For anyone who pre-ordered this, I suggest you refund, and buy a different route, this just isn't worth it. I'm sorry
Was gonna get it, love the 170. Now after this, can't justify £30 for that load of LOVE! Sounds IMO are good but the rest my god is woeful. Services, Haymarket depot etc but yet they include trams and the trams depot. Make that make sense.
Rivet don’t just get scrutinised because they’re called Rivet. They get extra criticism because they have have a catalog of content which has poor rolling stock, poor timetables, poor route scope & poor scenery. A catalog which is seldom updated (conveniently when it does get updated, it’s as they announce or release something new). Any other dev that would release similar levels of despair would (and have) received the same blow back. Remember SEHS? Remember MML when it released?
If this was indeed the wrong build then DTG need to arrange another stream using the latest build before release, because that was embarrassing and went from a route I've been looking forward to for ages to a hard pass. Parts of the route literally looked like a PS3 game, the trackside greenery looked appalling, flat textures everywhere, just laughable really, even my better half commented on how poor it looked, and she's not even a gamer. The only saving grace was the Forth Bridge, which did look pretty spectacular, but that's not going to make up for the rest of the route. Bitterly disappointed right now.
Wait did i see right that there are only 97 services? And that a fair number of those are actually just 'Glenrothes Shunt' at about 2 minutes in length? sorry but this preview is such a massive letdown, i was looking forward so much to this route but this is just ridiculous why can't rivet actually do decent timetables? Ridiculously quiet wcl, only 30 minute services on glasgow-edinburgh that in real life has every 15 minutes (so half the real timetable missing), now this? sorry but this is the most dissapointing stream i've ever seen, and really frustrating from a route that in the real world i love EDIT: 11 of those 97 services are simply 'Glenrothes with Thornton Shunt' at 2 minutes each.. so at most 86 'real' services
I wouldn’t call the route a real bad one, it has quite a few noted issues (quality how it works remains to be forseen) but I think my issue lies that there after care has been pretty bad for the other routes to the point if it doesn’t work on release the chance it will after is like the chances of winning the lotto. Basically if you’re seeing stuff not right now, it will most likely stay that way indefinitely going by that.
Well there was me wishing I'd kept a bit back from the Steam sale to cover a preorder of this. Glad I didn't. If DTG have any conscience or integrity they will pull this from release indefinitely and put Rivet on a final warning about the quality of their products.
I’m a big fan of F1 and every time I hear Ferrari with their iconic “we’re checking”, I’m thinking of DTG and RG sometimes, that explains the inspiration for this shitpost. We know they’ll check and nothing will be done:
It wasn’t the wrong build. That’s just a BS excuse because they reached a point where Matt was so embarrassed he couldn’t even come up with any excuses anymore.
I’d say they shipped it down (up?) from Cornwall, but they aren’t even making use of their own engineering pack.
I was shocked to find out they didn’t use it, it did make the pack seem a lot less than it already had been seen as, and to be honest a missed opportunity to make it worth more.
I haven't watched the preview stream but judging by alot of the comments the route isn't good it doesn't surprise me being a rivet route I refuse to buy anymore of there content unless they improve things
I had so much hope for this route. But ive see n someone say theres no ECS moves??? No freight? Railtours? Bare minimum timetable. And for whatever his name to say they have no plans of adding anything to the timetable is absurd. Rivet are smart. 170 is a highly sort after dmu and extremely versatile it can find a place on alot of the modern day routes we have. And they knew that thats why they slacked with the route because welp if they want the 170 they are gonna buy it!
Bit of a bummer about some of the scenery. Not the end of the world though. A lot of the route still looked amazing. hopefully they get a patch out ASAP which fixes these issues. I’ll still be buying this route as I love the Fife Circle Route but yes I hope a patch comes out and sorts some of the scenery out.
When did Jasper say that? He made more than one reference to extra services but wouldn't go into details!
Been having a thought that a fundamental issue here is that rivet are setting there goals too high, TSG sets there’s to locos and the smaller length route they done and gets them done very well, JT also set theirs and achieved one of if not the best routes, it does seem the way Rivets sets theirs it’s proving often that it’s under hitting and they need to rein back to what they can handle perhaps a suggestion to work on train addons they can gets sounds for and maybe focus more on routes what ain’t grand standing, the routes they have done is big names and i don’t think they are ready, even DTG can struggle to hit the big names.
Just wanted to say as well, that not being able to explore Haymarket TMD is a massive L! Was really looking forward to doing proper runs in and out of the depot via the trainwash, running ECS to Glenrothes/Cowdenbeath and then doing the return to Edinburgh in service. What a waste!
Almost too many disappointments to mention really & given the Edinburgh to Glasgow issues still remain pretty much since launch, there’s zero confidence this will change. The train looks good & I don’t think the sounds are bad. The area around the Forth is well done. But Timetable half missing Scenery pretty poor on what should be a big selling point Textures from the 90s No planes at the airport No trains at Haymarket depot No depot moves by looks of it either Disappointing, was all ready to give Rivet a fresh start, but won’t be buying it on the strength of that preview.
Matt asked if they plan on adding Railtours and the guy said we have no plans of adding to the timetable.
This route, is absolutely shambolic...I mean...rivet are absolutely confused, what on earth are they doing?!
That is only one set of services, he made reference to other services more than once but didn't give details. He didn't say they would not be adding any extra services.
It's not the end of the world but it is the end time of many here ever considering to buy future Rivet routes. A route like this is one that people want to buy simply because of the scenery and it isn't upto scratch, that might be less of an issue on a less scenic route like Edinburgh to Glasgow via Airdrie say but on a route like this one scenery is key and it hasn't been done as well as other routes.
I think shambolic is a bit harsh to be honest. There are areas it needs to be better but I don't think it was that awful. I may hold off until the class 158 comes out though and see what additions (if any) are made to the timetable. If it does turn out to be the wrong build on the stream then I might think again.
