Not another one that you were never ever going to buy! Back onto Fife Circle, I think with the Suffragette Gospel Oak to Barking line completely stealing the show, and I mean it, it really sets the bar again. There’s just nothing about Fife Circle (for now) that screams buy me, buy me. As I’ve said before, I buy UK DLC as a pre-order or on Day 1 without exception usually but for this it just feels a bit lacklustre. I think I’ll hold off until there are more streams of it. I feel like I’d be paying for the 170 and the Forth bridge as they are the highlights. We didn’t even get to see the other half of the circle until the Rosyth/Dunfermline area.
My reputation in that area has lost all credibility… Seriously though it’s very nice and a pleasant jump in quality for DTG in house both as regards train and route. I still question whether it’s quite worth £25, but it is what it is.
Wanted to add I was glad to see the 2 minute start up times added to a rivet route, so keep it as standard for all routes, without it every service gets off to a bad start.
That 2 minute setup time has apparently been on a development list of default things a route should have since TSW 2. All these years and there is still no simple checklist that someone is using to go over a route before release.
EDN for example, you have a minute, but the loading time is a minute, which is the longest (bar running early) for any station stop. You almost never leave on time.
Why this tone? This singular dev is showing off a pretty well crafted asset. Good modellers are just going to be put off with senseless hate when the sensible people know they've done a good job.
Just catching up on all the new comments posted in the last 24 hours, and about 95% of them contain useless babbling. Perhaps people could post these contributions (if you can even call them that) over in one of the “Enough is Enough” threads so I don’t have to navigate through them while trying to find actual discussion on the route here. Seriously, we get this every other DLC release and I’m sure many of the more reasonable/friendly forum users are as sick of it as I am. These videos get produced ahead of time, they were probably recorded weeks ago. It’s not like this is taking time away from fixing the issues the route currently has. I really like how insightful these dev blogs are, would love to see one explaining the modeling of the Forth Bridge and the surrounding landscape. I’m not sure if the forums are a good place to find out about the real state of a DLC. People (mostly a vocal minority) do generally seem to be overly nitpicky and negative here. The truth lies somewhere between the (understandably) overly positive marketing and the overly negative forums.
One word - Recation. He is trying to get a reaction from his tone and comment. You can guarantee if this route was developed absolutely perfectly to the standards we now expect and they did not do any development blogs he would be the first to complain about them not doing any.
It's this time because one the 170 is well moddled, but if Rivet Games claims there were improvements to the scenery and everything wouldn't we had received a similar dev blog or at least a video to show proof?
I don't think a Roblox house plonked on the terrain coming up the sides of it, no garden or fence a few yards from the track or terrain texturing below that you would get in Transport Fever 2, is nitpicking. Nevertheless we can only now wait and see what exactly Rivet, underwritten by DTG, will actually deliver on Tuesday.
No you did not you went in and edited your comment to Spanish after corrected. You have then edited my comment into Spanish to reply to it.
I do wonder if we will see a post from DTG or Rivet tomorrow pre release on Tuesday. Correct me if i am wrong but shall the streamers not be able to upload videos tomorrow as well at least it will show us the build the route is shipped in?
Ambassadors have already got the new build for Fife Circle Line, so we will have to wait and see until tommorow when their videos all go up, if anything has even changed. I'm still not very confident with this route in any way.
Well I mean that is obviously inexcusable. I’m just saying not everything people complain about here actually matters to the average player.
Just popped up on my youtube, Announcements & Track Sounds | Fife Circle Update (youtube.com) I am sorry but that sounds nothing like a class 170 . Those announcements sound like they are coming through the cab speaker and not through the saloon. You would never hear them that clear in a cab.
Not a fan of the Announcement voice. She sounds so bored and depressed. “The next stop is…………..Kirkaldy. You know what screw this. I’m going home. Can’t be bothered anymore” And that silly little chime before she speaks as well….. No wonder people want the option to turn them off.
The thing is they had that chime in the Edinburgh to Glasgow route and they removed it cuz people where getting sick of it but they added it back In for fife circle lol Also yeah she does sound mega depressed And it should say; we are now approaching (whatever station) please mind the gap when alighting from this train. Anyways looking forward to the ambassadors streams today
No one is expecting a 1 to 1 reproduction of what you can see along the line from the train and generic buildings are fine - if placed realistically and the terrain is painted decently. We all set different standards that is true, but what Rivet and DTG showed us the other evening falls below even what I would expect from a MSTS payware route years ago.
Oh God, how awful those "flat" fields are, without a blade of grass or a tree. It seems like they left the landscape modeling halfway done and they're gone! And I don't understand why even an ambassador only shows the Kirkcaldy branch.
Just clicked into BA’s stream & seen flat grass textures all over. Not great at all. Dalgety Bay P2 has a six hour gap between departures…this station sees at least 4 trains an hour IRL - 2 of which via P2.
It seems they made the windows of the "concrete cubes" 3D. Too many empty spaces. A small hill on the left, just next to the tracks, completely empty. Only green texture...
I'm not joking. I have a pretty good idea what a 170 sounds like so I'd say my judgement is fairly accurate.
this is why i can't buy this route in it's current state. For me no matter how good/bad the scenery is, if the timetable is bare and lifeless it's not for me, which is such a shame as this is a route i've always wanted to be brought into the game 97 class 170 services (of which at least 11 are just shunt movements of 2 minutes each) and zero stock at haymarket depot is just nowhere near good enough for me.. so until that is changed, assuming it ever is, i can't buy this route, no matter how much i'd love this route
Yeh the timetable is putting me off to I will probably wait for the 158 to release to see if anythings changed then decide if I want it
The only explanation for this surely, is that the devs responsible for both scenery & the timetable went on holiday. This DLC looked bad enough, BA is currently using an XSX build, which makes it look even worse as half the scenery assets don’t even pop in (thank the XSS for that one). The timetable though is ridiculous, absolutely shameful.
The bing bongs for the announcements are very annoying. They need to go, don’t happen on ScotRail trains. Have to say though, I don’t think the voice is too dissimilar to the real announcements.
As expected, not much has changed in terms of design. It just looks so MSTS-like for a game from 2024. I'm still pretty disappointed. Empty fields, not a nice texture. More empty textures. Everywhere along the route... This is bad. Welcome 2005! Trainz? Still the same copy-paste rocks. Buildings were also set according to the same principle, just like in MSTS and bad freeware routes. Wow... I'm speechless. Why Rivet, why? You are just wasting the reputation that you had just rebuilt through the Bernina line. No matter where you look, lovelessness is everywhere. Here they are again... But: the bridge looks good! Nevertheless, the rest of it is empty and boring. No life, no ships, no planes. Nothing. The island under the bridge also looks pretty crude and MSTS-like. I can't believe that a DLC in 2024 can and should look like this. I won't buy it.
I had hope after the promise they will fix the timetable and complaints. I did end up refunding it a day later. I really hope they fix it and I'll buy it in the summer sale then. or christmas sale if it is on sale then. for now that money is going to the semmeringbahn. it's been quiet about that route although it looked pretty finished. hoping on some suprise addition. not expecting a railjet or a second austrian loco. but one can dream
Well that is just awful. If Rivet and DTG who are publishing it can't see, "What's wrong with this picture?" per the famous quote from the movie Falling Down, then there really is no hope. As I said earlier, I actually got better texturing on a map in TF2 with the very limited palette available for ground terrain. There is no way this should be on sale for £30, that's for sure. Still think DTG should show some balls and tell Rivet it's simply not good enough and we're pulling it from release. Earn your pay whoever makes the final decision.
There should also be a small wall at the end of the platforms at Waverley rather then just a drop onto the rails
using the modded field textures by quince it makes TF2 cab rides look great even. in a game like TSW where you can see how great Niddertalbahn or any tsw4 route looks. this is appaling to sell for a full price. especially when it lacks any shape or a normal timetable too. this isn't TSW2 anymore.
this is the biggest thing for me, especially after the recent Goblin line which feels so alive, this feels like a massive step backwards. As soon as this route was announced i couldn't wait for this, and i've purchased every single modern-era UK route to date, so for me to say i can't buy this is a big deal for me.. it really takes a lot for me to think a modern-era uk route is so not up to standard that i can't buy it, i'm just so surprised and dissapointed this is the timetable that is being released. for me (and i imagine a lot of others) timetable mode if the most important and most used feature of a route, and with the bare timetable supplied i just can't get onboard with this. don't get me wrong the class 170 looks really good, the forth rail bridge is excellently modelled, but a poor timetable is a major red line for me. to drive a full service and pass one, maybe two other services in a whole hour, on a route that in real life is incredibly busy, is not good enough for me.
Yeah it’s a no from me, until there is scenery and timetable improvements, as expected the “wrong build” thing was pretty immaterial to most of the issues.
Now The British Ace is showing off the other branch of the Circle. I don't think it's ever been shown, right?
