Tbf to Rivet they did a good job with the IOW 2022 route I haven't heard anything about the Swiss route they made but they can make a decent route with the IOW add on its a shame the mess the fife circle is in
Every time I look at those trees and some of the scenery it reminds of Network Q RAC rally! Why not use existing assets that look better and less blurry?
Don't get me wrong, I don't think it's worth the price. The state of the WCL and the 385 is exactly my point in my original post referring to their track record. What I think is different this time is the backlash. I don't think it has ever been this bad before, and since it is such a beloved route, I don't think they can leave it the way they have the WCL, the 385 and Arosa. As a context, I'm not UK based at all and yet I still know about the Fife Circle, that's how famous it is. They just have to fix it, otherwise it's a mayor PR catastrophe for both Rivet and DTG. Like I wouldn't be surprised if ScotRail themselves would pull the plug on the license if they didn't. Or maybe I'm just naive. As to why I'm buying it even though I don't think it's worth the price? Well, I've never been known for my sound financial decisions and I like it when trains go choo-choo on my screen, what can I say.
Only hope now is that Rivet really do patch up the route and put some passion into it while they do it. Very very very disappointing if they make one patch then just move on and forget which typically does happen with TSW routes over and over again. Goblin Line got a lot of praise. It will also be very interesting to see what DTG’s future routes are going to look and feel like also. DTG got the praise it deserves with that route but let’s see if they can actually keep it going forward with other routes they build because I have a strong feeling it’s not going to last very long lol….
Another thing I’ve noticed - Rivet explicitly noted that GSMR was fully functional, yet it doesn’t show the train code. Announcements don’t seem to be playing for all stations. Some stations have no passengers. Joint sounds are still mostly absent, the ones they showed off in their update video on the weekend were the ones we already knew worked. Forth Bridge structure does not load on Xbox until you’re already on the bridge.
Yes, you can do that, but then it just goes back to a blank screen. I suppose it’s technically functional, but it’s pointless as it doesn’t hold the data.
Building update. The comparison pictures are from this video by german TSW ambassador Felix der Weise. 1. The one complex with the grey buildings seems to be right in the final build. Nothing to argue here. 2. I figured out that the red factory buildings had some texture on it in the preview stream, even if it's less. However, it seemed to be faded a lot in the livestream due to the downscaled resolution. You barely see it in the screenshot I did. Given for the buildings which are farther behind, they might appear completely 2D-ish in the stream, but could have better textures on them, when looking close. 3. - This one is funny. Do you remember that building? It completely disappeared in the final build:
I think you'll find it isn't. I think you would find someone in an abusive relationship would love to have whether or not to purchase Fife Circle as their main worry. Rather than having to worry when they might get another beating or having their liberty taken. Brings it into perspective really.
All TSW routes are using the same foliage assets apart from Niddertalbahn, I believe, and it's been that way for years. I get that it's how you place the assets realistically but I think we need a foliage refresh pretty soonish - using the editor there are only about 2 or 3 decent looking tree types at the moment, hence a lot of routes have the same feel, and are not particularly immersive because of that. Same with the lineside grass and field textures. In some ways TSC is better now that we have their excellent AP foliage addon.
This reminds me of another youtuber who told people to still buy NASCAR 21 despite that game being a complete mess. This is why I too don't watch most ambassadors. It just feels like they still would recommend poor products so they don't get into DTG's bad side so they can continue to get free DLC. Also it’s unfortunate but not suprising that the "Old Build" excuse was complete BS
I believe that's wrong. There's even a mod that introduces new foilage assets to older routes. https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/m...-patches/i3963-route-vegetation-grass-ep-tsw4
"The local police needs the help of the citizens. A 40 year old building is missing. The suspect was last seen Thursday 21st, north of Kinghorn station (south of Kirkcaldy). If you have any information, pleace contact Dovetail Games. Thank you for your participation."
The only issue is it's there in real life. So, if the replication standards should be matched to fit real life, it would be required there. Source (40:50 in the video):
as I said before, I am ok with Edinburgh Glasgow, thats a route I enjoy playing, but Luzern Sursee, which is also by them,... still leaves a bitter taste in my mouth, I was sooo much looking forward to ETCS... but yeah, I preordered this, and hoping for a good experience... lets say on the level of East Coastway or sth
Oh, what memories... All those identical rows of houses! However, it remains one of the best English routes, in my opinion.
Good point, and excellent they are, but I'm pretty sure they are the same meshes but with different draw distances etc. The mods still use DTG's foliage assets. What we could do with is a new and much more varied foliage palette. Not straightfoward though, as a more realistic tree asset would probably be hard on frames.
Oh dear this is beyond terrible. I really thought Rivet would rev their engines on getting the route up to good standards. Looks like I wrong. What baffles me though is why DTG haven’t intervened and told Rivet it’s not good enough. That’s the release it now and “fix it later” policy right there. Oh well Taxi Life, Tram Simulator and the Goblin Line will keep me going for my sim fix, until another route takes my fancy and is worth the asking price. It’s a damn shame.
No, it's not wrong. The mod is very good but has not anything to do with what fakenham meant/criticized on DTG. It's about completely new and overhauled tree assets for standard DTG routes. When using the PC Editor, you get a clear impression of how bad the selection of trees in the DLCs is and how often actually assets are reused in other DLCs. Niddertalbahn is a big exception as TSG used trees of completely different types and variety. Would be an advocate for the idea too, if the next DTG DLCs could have overhauled scenery and most of all new scenery assets in it.
> criticizes in the most neutral way possible > gives solid arguments and facts to back up his arguments > no insults, no sarcasm, gives even positive feedback about rivets work >>> "your comments are in no way constructive" >>>>>>> "YOU JUST WANT TO VENT" yeah sure. "pls be nice to us or you are just a HATER"
Apart from the obvious about the scenery being very questionable (and still is in my opinion), the timetable is definitely one of the biggest disappointments of this route. It feels so dead everywhere, with your train being the only train on the map. It almost feels like you’re playing in free roam mode. Driving around for miles with not a single train in sight. Particularly so when in Edinburgh Waverley, as that station is bustling with trains at all times of the day. The same goes for when passing Haymarket Depot. That too also should have trains populating it at all times of the day, spread out over the depot. To see it completely empty, with ZERO trains populating it, is enough to put me off the route. Add the fact that there are also zero ECS moves, special services or freight services on launch, it just isn’t acceptable in my opinion. These should be the absolute basics when developing a route. If these aren’t ready for launch, then the route simply shouldn’t be released, in my honest opinion.
I think there was certainly a tone with the comment, there wasn’t really any substance with it either, it really is just a vent. The thing is though that it seems someone has told the Rivet CM teams to deflect & play victim. If Rivet want to develop the way they are & then act like this, then let them. It’s their reputation they’re flushing down the toilet. All they’re going to do is say “we’re working on doing this & that”, as they have with every other route, but all that will come is more DLC pedalling.
this is EXACTLY the problem here!! I cannot understand how Rivet think this timetable is even remotely acceptable (and saying they are adding another 30 or so services still won't be enough in reality).. after Goblin showing how a timetable should be done this is a huge, huge letdown.. and as someone who to date has purchased every single modern-era uk route, and was really looking forward to this, i cannot in anyway buy this in it's current state, this timetable is frankly an insult to the route
I guess because the finished product is already delivered to the distribution platforms and the release date has been made probably made by contract. That's the problem with critizising preview streams. In the few days between preview stream and release, noone really could intervent anymore. It's like a crash you see coming but can't intervent to stop it. We'll see how DTG is behaving with this release. The preview were at Thursday, we had the weekend in between where the Forum was on fire without further notice from DTG or Rivet and now unfortunately is also Eastern knocking at the door, where employees of DTG, Rivet and any other platforms do have vacations. At the end of it all, I'm questioning myself why nobody is going to check all important things before delivering a final product nor doing a livestream. Nobody's critizing Rivet or DTG making a human mistake in a livestream. However, how does it come there is nothing like a quality control before releasing any kind of (preview) material to the public? And how can developers not expect a sh!tstorm, when apparently elemantory aspects of a game or DLC are missing in it? Don't know what the reason of this, but quite obviously there is something wrong in the way products are released/showed to the public and every party in the case, developers the same way as costumers, should agree on that.
The problem is we just go round in circles with the way TSW content is announced & released. We tell DTG there isn’t enough pre-release communication, they get better at it for a short while, then go back to the usual way. We tell DTG that we need to see preview streams earlier so that concerns can be addressed, they do the stream 4 days before release. We point out that there are glaring issues with consistencies in content, DTG tell us they’ll implement a standard checklist, yet the issue remains. We point out glaring issues that shouldn’t make it QA, DTG say they’ll increase the level of QA done, level of issues remains the same. At what point do we call it a day? Every release is the same, you just have to hope that someone along the way has had the foresight of giving us some quality content, otherwise we fall back to these meaningless promises to do better, or will be resolved later. It’s really annoying lately too, it’s bad by any standard but absolutely infuriating when you get good quality releases & then something like Fife drops in this state.
I never said it replaces all of them. I agree that DTG should improve their asset game. I merely was trying to point out the fact that this mod helps alleviate the vegetation situation somewhat. It improves routes like TVL drastically, where isn't that much vegetation to begin with. I'm assuming it's similar with NTP as well, but I haven't checked. Sorry if it came out the wrong way.
The uber defensive attitude they are presenting is really putting me off looking at any products of theirs again tbh. Mind blowing that they think this is actually a viable product. They have obviously spent alot of time on the modelling of the bridge and the train itself, both of which are very good & show what they are capable off. The scenery is like something from a PS1 game. The huge amount of services left out of the timetable are frankly staggering. There was such huge potential to have a genuinely busy route, busy depot, full depot moves and it’s been ignored. Even the implementation of the 801 at Waverley was half done with the PIS blank and showing calling at Waverley….while at Waverley. The airport should be a real focal point too and again half baked. This is a local route to me and had potential to be an absolutely amazing DLC. Busy, varied and with some amazing scenery. After the preview I was disappointed but thought the Rivet statement initially sounded like an acknowledgment and I had a bit of hope they’d address the issues. The attitude shown towards the community since from multiple different staff members is to be honest diabolical. This isn’t a one off disappointment, the last two UK routes have been fire and forget with zero interest in delivering fixes, so sorry you don’t get to be defensive and dismissive towards the customers that have been burned multiple times.
Watched a few ambassador videos. I like the look of it and for me the Class 170 sounds great and a great addition. Timetable is basic however and reflects with the route looking bare. Hopefully additional services will be added with Class 158 & Scot Rail HST etc. I'm positive this is why they've left such gaps in the timetable.
It just looks hideous. Terrible scenery. No traffic whatsoever. Bad texturing and lighting. Even the ambassadors can’t be bothered trying to sell this clusterf**k.
Absolutely horrible customer service, nice to know that Rivet think that honest criticism is not helpful
Hey all, I was really excited to get this DLC as I used to frequent the line almost daily to see my girlfriend in Cupar. Seen a couple previews and it looks like they've completely left out the queensferry crossing, is this correct? Seems to be quite an expensive DLC to leave out such a huge landmark. Not sure if this was a bug? it's not in the preview images on steam either.
Basically they slightly fixed up the buildings, removing one (the famous house on the curve). They left the ugly fields flat and empty. The timetable is unchanged from the last live broadcast. Overall FCL improved slightly, with the presence of announcements confirmed.
When you think it can't get any worse it can. This is very unprofessional I'm sorry. If you can't take the critism then simply just stop developing routes for Train Sim World. Don't down play the severity the mess your company caused. Constructive Criticism is NOT venting.
They had this when edi - gla was first introduced and then removed in the first “fix” patch in week one due to feedback…baffling as to why it’s now back.
Thanks! I'm going to hold off buying this as much as I want it, I've been burned too many times with awful DLC in train sim but it's looking promising, if they can spend a bit more time making the scenary less bare and fixing these 'bugs'
It blows my mind as always. DTG had plenty of time to prepare for the stream and yet they somehow make school boys errors when using the wrong build lol. Like you said “no quality control”. Does no one check anything anymore? You’re trying to promote and you don’t even though if it’s the correct build on your pc. I just checked out DadRails video, and overall i’m still unimpressed. Bad textures, empty stations, delayed onboard announcements (the chime sound to speech) and no freight or rail tours. Looking at the quality of recent releases, the quality on this route has dropped significantly. It definitely needed more time in the oven.
I must say that even with my voucher and 10% off on the Xbox I am rather disappointed really, I mean just getting rid of the building rather than correcting does shout the absolute wrong message about the route and so I don't think I will be buying this until the timetable additions are made. It is rather sad as the 170 itself doesn't seem too bad and I were actually looking forward to the route.
