I was wondering, are there any of you guys who either have OCD or OCD tendencies/symptoms? Does it sometimes get in the way of your enjoying of the game? Havent seen a thread like this here, so I thought I might as well create one - like, here you can share your OCD situations in TSW and how have you overcome them, or if you had any recent episodes Since this can be sensitive stuff, of course share only if you feel comfortable So with me, there have been many situations over time... recently I have spent hrs researching where BR 101 does layer cos for some reason I thought it also does into Rhein Ruhr Osten... and my most recent is - been doing a run with BR 101 on Rosenheim - Salzburg, trying to do a screenshot, and I accidentally pressed INSERT key... most ppl wouldnt even notice, but me, noooo... I had to go into options to look it up, what it does, then loaded up Training Center and tested various locos where the key does sth (it works on SOME US diesel locos) so of course it turned out to be just a classic OCD scare - sth that actually fcks literally zero things, cos in TSW any key you press only affects current run, and the interface shows every instance if a key is used and does sth... but of course, for me it will still occupy some of thinking for the day, until I get back from work and do a couple runs... when it probably gets replaced by another seemingly minor thing... Anyway, here you can share such experiences, and maybe even explanations, to help others, maybe
There are a couple, though they're not massive. Previously to ACTUALLY being diagnosed with OCD I genuinely thought everyone else did this. I don't like the ICE bistro wagen Is not in the center of the formation, just really urks me on a personal level. There isn't much I can do about it so I end up trying to figure out which direction I want to spawn the train in. When I do formation with the IC cars or dostos, I'm always doing a sandwich formation aka Loco+coaches+Loco because i genuinely feel for some reason I NEED double traction to drive. If I don't, I'll start obsessively testing traction power with or without. I'll always lower the blinds on the back locomotive or cabin that isn't in use, otherwise it's the only thing I'll be paying attention to when taking Screenshots. It sticks out like a sore thumb to me. If able, I have the need to change the EbuLa's contrast as dark blue will just distract me constantly. These are just a few, and while they won't necessarily ruin my experience with the game... It's certainly something that I think obsessively over and over again. Kinda sucks but oh well.
some more: - spent hrs trying to make Taurus sandwich formation to work (tried to find how to see if the second loco really works) - got SPAD near Rosenheim when doing freight in free roam, spent like an hour or two reloading the save and posting here to find out the cause even though I could just do another run - always anxious when installing new DLC, if it will work properly and not crash - sometimes when a loco/train does sth unexpected, I obsess over whether it is cos of mouse or sound and I usually find out it is cos game sometimes is just acting up (or my mind is messing with me) - sometimes just general fear that I will press a wrong button or sth and it fcks up the game permanently - which is also BS, cos if a DLC is acting up, usually re-loading the game or reinstalling that DLC works sometimes the best approach is pretty much to turn on the game and play it as much as I can... that way my brain sometimes just acknowledges like, yeah, you've been playing for 3hrs, trains run fine, game is fine... so, yeah
I don’t really like how the camera is positioned when you sit in the drivers seat of most trains, it makes me feel like I’m looking too far up not only in game but irl too. The desk has to be in view to make me feel like the top & bottom of the screen are balanced and the window is in the centre. I’ll do this every time I start a service or go back in the cab from an outside view. Not sure if this also counts but obsession of small details or inaccuracies is also some thing I do, once I notice something I can’t forget about and every time I go back to that route or train I’ll always go to it.
sometimes I restart a service if I somehow do the starting sequence (lights, safety systems etc) in different order and somehow forget if I turned on this or that... sometimes more than once
Can relate with that honestly, its hard to let go of little issues like that. My controller's left thumbstick starting twisting after I dropped it. So now I constantly try to fix it lol
took me a long time to not get anxious whenever I change batteries in my Xbox One controller thank you, Dark Souls and Darksiders
The 'To The Trains' button should be twice as big as it currently is. It needs to fill the spot taken by the 'Continue Journey' button. I hate it when I move the mouse from the default position by accident, because then the camera isn't in its default position anymore. Now I can't even press 1 to reset the camera, because I'll probably trigger the solid seat bug! I can only play the Bakerloo Line if I have time to do a round trip. If I fail to complete a round trip, I feel sad. I hate it when there are 'S' car stop markers on the same platform as other train length specific stop car markers (like '3' or '4-5'). I hate it when there are missing numbers from stop car markers (For example, a platform may have 2-3, 4-6, 9-10, and 11-12. WHERE IS A 7 OR 8 CAR MEANT TO STOP?!) I hate how some Naverkehr Dresden stations have 'H' stop markers, and others don't. This is a very interesting thread idea! I like it!
yeah, so far I am picking two kinds of vibes - one is the "a bit lighter one" of small details triggering someone... and then one like me, where one small thing can trigger hours of searching, research, testing, obsessing over small BS that usually turns out to be a small bug, or some tiny sh.t like that but I feel you man still for me, in this "vein", I kinda hate it when we get routes that rarely act as complete service IRL... like, I want to have a feeling I got somewhere, that I completed a service a real driver would, at the end of which he would switch cabs and sometimes have a little break or sth... or, once we have started getting Austrian content, I was kinda sad that we had to (not long now) wait for proper Taurus, which is one of my fav locos IRL along with Vectron and EuroDual... and it still bums me that we still dont have Desiro ML CityJet, THE train that plunged me into railfanning and all anyway, thx for replies everybody, so far I like the discussion I know that it usually feels good to know that you arent the only goofball in the room thinking a bit too much over seemingly small things
