Yesterday I was scrolling through the heritage unit app and something caught my attention. Norfolk Southern 1800 was leading NS 123. NS 123 comes down from Indiana and takes the S-line to Linwood North Carolina. Well I woke up this morning and ate and left to take the trash off. The eastbound and westbound lights were red so I figured it done went through (I sadly don't have a scanner). Well I took off the trash and went and checked on the signals one more time. Still red. Well as I'm going back home I see a track crew getting off the tracks. Well I ask them and they were kind enough to inform me an eastbound was coming. So I set up my camera and wait unsure if it was NS 123 or not. Well it's 10:45 and the gates go down. I hear the horn and it sounds like a sd70. Well next thing I see is the yellow nose of NS 1800. I get a few quick shots and enjoy the moment. If you railfan near Asheville North Carolina or Linwood North Carolina be on the look out. Those these aren't my pics in case you're wondering this is what 1800 looks like.
1801 went through in January on 135 but I was at school. Good catch though. Too bad it wasn't leading.
