I have not fully studied these services to Aberdeen, so I will take your word for that without that stiudy.
This isn't unique to FCL. I have experienced this on almost every other route when I leave the safety systems on and continue on foot after finishing a service. If I can, I turn the safety systems off before finishing. It does usually stop once/if the train goes through a portal.
In real life, the high tension wires of the Queensferry Crossing are highly visible from a great distance. They are far more visible than the high tension wires on the old Forth Road Bridge. The bridge and its high tension wires are highly visible from even further away than the Forth Rail Bridge. The new Queensferry Crossing visibly dominates the old road bridge and its design fully compliments the rail bridge in style, but not in this DLC. At night, the Queensferry Crossing is fully lit. In this DLC the wires are NOT visible and the bridge is not lit at night, as it has been since before its official opening. It's sloppy and shoddy work that lacks a great deal of detail which should be there. I use them regularly, there’s a chance Rivet have put them all as Dundee services though, I’m only going from fact Aberdeen did not show as a destination on the timetable run through on the preview
No excuse, especially considering how visible the high tension wires are in real life and in the photo's above. The Queensferry Crossing bridge lighting is also never switched off at night.
So a few days ago, after reading how terrible this route was, I cancelled my pre-order and prepared to wait it out. And, quick as a flash, in the intervening few days we heard virtually nothing from DTG and near nowt but snark from Rivet. I read the forums, watched the streams, and tut-tutted along with everyone else. Then, today, with just minutes left on the 10% offer, I collapsed like a house of cards and bought the route with my refunded money. Feeling like a traitor, I made my first timetable run from Edinburgh all prepared to scoff, with my eyes firmly on that 2-hour refund window on Steam - but found myself enjoying it. Quite a bit. Enough that I copied over Jetwash's excellent settings from the E-G route and pasted them in to Foobian's God Mode and made my way to Markinch, first in the sun and in a 'fair drookit' downpour at the end. Is it perfect? Not at all. Are the complaints justified? I'm sure some of them are, but not all, though I'm no one to judge. And, I need to say, I'm running the game on an RTX 4090 so am certainly driving no potato. But I was reading all these comments, all prepared to give it a miss, and I'm glad I didn't - it was a very enjoyable drive that very much seems like nine months work, as I understand most routes take. And I don't even mind the bagpipes at Edinburgh Waverly. Pleased with the route so far, so guess there's no need for me to order that bucket of tar and sack o' feathers from Amazon after all. I guess I choose to see the many positives rather than focus on the well-publicized negatives. A word for Rivet and DTG though - you may think that your silence is clever and will help calm things down, but it's actually doing the opposite. Frankly it's an idiotic policy and I can't believe all your community management folk went to Community Management School simply to sit there in silence and hope it all blows over. People are mostly forgiving - offer your side of the story and stop skulking around like villains. I seem to recall Sam trying to teach you as much, shame the lesson appears to have been forgotten. Seriously. You've got beans, start spilling them, or watch community trust continuing to nose dive. One final point - most of the people venting their frustration on here are the same ones who rightly praised Bernina. Fess up and move on...or don't.
To recap all the problems, if I understand correctly: - Missing level crossing bars. - Unfinished airport. - Horrible bare meadows and gaunt hills along the Circle. - Lack of fences in some places, along the tracks. - No traffic on some roads. - The Kinghorn Pedestrian Overpass has a corrupted floor texture. - Some stations are a bit empty (in my opinion). - Rocks with redundant texture (photocopied). - A sign in Burntinsland says Glasgow Queen Street. - Mild vegetation in some stations. - Service Preview (timetable mode) shows services throught Glenrothes on Dunfermline branch. - The service code doesn't appear on the GSMR. - Lochgelly has a bug that also allows passengers on the other platform to cross the tracks and board your train. - At the entrance to the Inverkeithing tunnel, towards North Queensferry, the portal has cracks that reveal the void. - Dalmeny's announcement is heard on the Forth Bridge, 1 mile from the station, rather than the usual 0.6 miles. And of course the timetable. You encounter only 2/3 trains on the Circle (besides the 385 on the main line). All this said by a user who does NOT own the route (I've condensed all the problems known up to now here). As for the route in general, I can't say anything on it, until I purchase it. For now I'm rating it 6/10. Reinforcing my previous impressions.
can confirm, the bridge is incredible at night, It’s actually one of the things the Scottish government got right, the design is incredible. I really hope they improve
Thats your'e point of view.... There enough they find this route fine... Please understand that there are enough people they say fine i have enough play time and im less interesting in the environment and for me is more the train a thing that i like and i must say that the train isnt that bad.
Can someone confirm how many 170 services there are in total not including the little 2 min stock moves? Done a quick and dirty check and I work out there should be around 108 services FROM Edinburgh alone(have included inter7city services as these can be operated by 170s). My workings are - 53 Trains per day to Dundee(including Aberdeen trains) 33 Trains per day to Dunfermline(these should include all trains terminating at Cowdenbeath, Glenrothes & one late night train to Perth) 17 Trains per day to Perth via Fife I think they cover all possibilities, unless anyone can spot anything I’ve missed? So return wise I make it - 55 trains per day from Dundee(including Aberdeen trains) 33 Trains per day from Dunfermline(these should include all trains starting at Cowdenbeath & Glenrothes) 19 Trains per day from Perth via Fife So 107 service via Fife to Edinburgh, giving a total service count of around 215. Add in some depot moves, yours and RHTT and it’s a fairly decent & varied timetable. As I say not checked it but should be pretty accurate(unless I’ve done something silly!)
After watching some of the previews I wasn't going to buy this yet but once I'd heard "dad can we get Fife Circle" for the 1000th time this week and WCRC cancelling our trip on the Jacobite next week I caved and begrudgingly bought it (I had to try and cheer the boy up somehow). This route has so much potential however the execution is absolutely shocking, how this was given the go ahead for release in its current form is beyond me. I've driven a couple of timetabled services so far and this is what is glaringly obvious even to a layman like myself, most of which had already been raised in previews prior to release...... The scenery detail level/quality is horrendous, it remind me of early TSC days throughout the vast majority of what I've driven. Plain "painted" grass textures trackside just doesn't cut it these days, it's bad enough using it out in the middle of nowhere where you are bombing past but to use it in station areas is just disgraceful. All graphic settings maxed out and it looks no better than routes I was playing 10+ years ago. The track texture is appalling, when it starts raining it looks like the ballast is submerged in water yet the "painted" ballast texture below remains unchanged. Credit where credit is due though, the Bridge is fabulously modelled . There is hardly any AI services (at least on the few that I have done) for example I drove 2G65 and passed 2 possibly 3 services before Inverkeithing however when you look at RTT I should have passed 6 (not including E&G services between Waverly and the lines splitting before South Gyle). Haymarket depot is also completely empty, not one bit of stock sitting . As for the 170, it is a fairly decent model to be fair however in my opinion the exterior sounds are nothing like a Turbostar, far too high pitched when pulling away. The right had door release buttons aren't there (there are 2 black circles where they should be though ) and the announcements just don't sound right. Fair play to Rivet for bringing this route to the game but they should have delayed release and fixed the problems first. The difference in quality between this and the GOBLIN Line is quite frankly night and day, quite a few will now wait till either Fife Circle is on sale or wont buy it at all. Rushed it out to make a quick buck but will lose quite a bit of potential revenue due to their quality issues.
The train isn't bad, it's the rest that's a complete shambles. De trein is niet slecht, het is de rest die een grote puinhoop is.
Let me be clear.... If they ask for it and you have the money do it! Its not the end of the world this route..... If you didnt have a large of expections its fun to drive with this train. The 170 is fun! for sure.
Also enjoying the route; 170 is great and so pleased that the sound mixing is this good unlike compared to the 385. Looking forward to running it in free roam on EDI-GLA for a mix up. Enjoyable route to drive along with some good high speed sections and gradients complicating your run; scenery is mostly fine… I tend to have the cam external alongside the train or in the cab… not sure why the obsession with showing ultra high cam shots of the scenery as I doubt many people are playing the game and observing the route from these elevated angles. Anyway passable at worst and pretty similar to other TSW route scenery, but looks impressive in places. The only bit that I did find jarring is the airport as you have barren flat plains on both sides so it does stand out more.. would be beneficial if they do get round to updating the scenery here. hopefully, the new timetable additions and the 158 aren’t too far away, and they can scatter some static stock around, but happy with it in its current state and much more pleasurable to drive on than the awfully sound mixed EDI-GLA
No the route is not what we expecting but there always people they say okay i have no clue what i have seen due to the reason they dind't visit this place or have other expections.
Other smaller things i've noticed: disappearing end of platform marker on southbound track at Kirkcaldy (LOD issue?) floating gravestones north of Kirkcaldy, a good few meters up. passengers only want to board the first carriage of the LNER trains ending up with 20+ people poking out the door.
Yeah this is pretty much it, apart from I’d say, the line just looks incredibly boring. wit??? It’s not THAT quiet
I have used the line between Dundee and Edinburgh regularly and every time I am in Scotland I use it. I agree with you when you say that the 170 is good, but it looks like Rivet still has a lot of work to do to put everything right.
I am enjoying the route for what it is, but it feels so under cooked in places. One of my biggest disappointments is Edinburgh airport. What they modelled to what it looks like in reality is a shocking comparsion. How did they think it was acceptable to leave such an important landmark in the state they left it. It’s honestly like they just gave up or ran out of time.
I have seen a different comments with a comparison with the Goblinline..... I think thats not a fair way.... The Goblinline is nearly a quarter of this route so with this length is that not easy to create.... If you use the FFC line in this quality standards than you have to wait for this addon until 2040 is guess.... Thats way to much work.
Okay cool! I have visit this route last summer and have planned my second trip next may/june to visit scotland
I don't have large expectations. I expected a route up to todays standards, not a route on which I would say is on par (quality wise) with SECML on TSC, a route which came out over a decade ago. I've got graphics set to Ultra and its just rotten (in my opinion). If you're happy to blast away on the route that's up to you, in its current form it just doesn't cut it for me I'm afraid. As I said, the 170 is a decent model but has a few issues they need to sort.
The line is definately not a lot quieter. In the next hour alone there’s 8 trains going through Inverkeithing…
If you look at the actual timetables it's only missing the Cowdenbeath shuttles and a few of the Perth/Dundee services. I'll actually go through the Scotrail timetable .pdfs and indicate which services are in the game and which aren't.
Hey all, possible stupid question, I'm just looking at all of the timetables and scenarios, is there no way to just drive from Edinburgh - Glenrothes via Dunfermline? All the services seem to go up the coast? There's one full circle scenario I found and a couple of timetables that stop at Dunfermline.
There is no circle service in reality either! You have the glenrothes with thornton services and the services to dundee. Circle line is more the layout of the route and not the services
could it not have been possible to use a pre covid timetable without major differences to the route ? It’s been said by DTG they avoid covid timetables. (Or Post covid providing its got the same negative is the same as a covid)
Any services terminating/starting at Glenrothes should stop at Dunfermline. There won’t be any that terminate at Dunfermline as far as I know. The services terminating/starting at Cowdenbeath are missing and rivet have said they’d look into those.
oh ok, so Glenrothes services are via Dunfermline and Mankirch via the other path, if I understood you correctly, thx
Correct, Perth and Dundee go via Kirkcaldy and Glenrothes goes via Dunfermline as will the Cowdenbeath services when they are added
I had a steam refund from another game (that was canned years ago and randomly got refunded), So i caved and got the route, it definitely suffered from "much worse showcase than actually is" But as others have said, will be nice to see what actually gets fixed by Rivet and wether their "free" route extentions comes to fruition.
Battallion 1944, The studio admitted they couldn't make what they'd promised for the kickstarter, So they got brought out by another developer who then paid for the refunds. They did it, I'd forgotten all about it, so it was a nice surprise https://www.ign.com/articles/battal...rter-backers-a-full-no-questions-asked-refund
Splash Damage bought them out and then basically paid for the refunds. It was... unique... to say the least
The biggest most obvious glaring bug for me that completely breaks any sense of emersion… they’ve called Dunfermline Town, Dunfermline City in game. Frankly I’m not sure how anyone can buy this, everyone knows Dunfermline is a town masquerading as a city any I’ll hear no one argue with me on this. the town centre? A bus station to go anywhere else in Scotland waits in anticipation
anyway, playing it now, liking it so far, just thought the 170 would be a bit more nimble... it is ok, kinda on par with slower Electrostar EMUs, but still kinda sluggish, even on P7
Sorry I was joking, there’s a running joke Dunfermline isn’t a real city (until 2022/3 it wasn’t actually a City, it was Dunfermline Town) Which it isn’t, just like the Kingdom of Fife isn’t a real kingdom. (unless you ask anyone in Fife, in which case it is)
while you are listening to Gloryhammer, it is a real kingdom, by the name of Angus McFife, or McSix, as he goes by now lol
