Speaking for myself, I stated when TSW3 was announced that I wouldn't be buying it until the recently introduced TSW2 derail bug was fixed. I was bummed that enough people apparently did buy it that DTG felt comfortable cancelling that fix (as well as the long-promised Peninsula Corridor upgrades). But I didn't rage at the community and call them selfish for doing so. People buying Fife have decided that what works is good enough for them personally and what doesn't work isn't important enough to them personally. Insisting that one's own subjective priorities are an objective standard to be met by everyone or else the world will end doesn't make it so. There's nothing wrong with simply being disappointed.
I bought it too and although it had some drawbacks it was working well until a patch put it in hiatus for a while. It’s working again but also how long did it take to become workable again? Its was a huge swathe of time because I remember uninstalling it for literally months and months.
You answered your own post. Why did your fix never materialise? Because enough people who didn’t care went ahead and made dtgs minds up for them. It’s a real issue and really no one in the community wins. That’s why I made the comment I did.
Sorry about the silence, we're actively following along here, but there's nothing much to announce as of right now. We're tracking the bugs internally, many thanks for every single report! That was super helpful, thanks a lot! May I ask what system you're on? And on a side note: Thanks for the positive feedback as well, it's nice to see folks enjoying the route!
Definitely. The potential is still there. I really look forward to seeing improvements in the future for this route. Please don’t abandon ship with this one.
To some extent that point is already here. As I already mentioned I have so much content in TSW plus TSC and all my other games I really don’t need to rush to buy every single piece of DLC. While I folded and bought Goblin and it’s a nice route, part of me already wishes I had waited for a sale. With everything else queuing up to be played, how many 50 minutes am I really going to spend doing a very repetitive all stations bus service. Glossop and BCC already pretty much fell off the radar because of that.
This seems to be the new normal for both game companies and movie studios on social media (and increasingly in the access media): if the customers don't like their product, then the customers are bad.
Make the changes and turn this around Jasper. If you do, myself and many others will invest in the route. Make it an unbeatable route the potential is there…
Could I ask what happened to the house north of Kinghorn station that was visible in the preview stream but disappeared from the final build? What is the reason of this and are you going to get it in again? I mean the house is there in reality. Not having it would not provide an exact replication as its so close to the railway. The problem is not solved by vanishing it.
Oh, Jasper_Rivet, I forgot... A small bug on the underpass after Lochgelly should be added to the list (the usual crack through which you can see under the map). Then I wonder if it's normal that the door buttons are missing on the right side of the 170's cabin. And I would like to say that the addition of some grass on the slopes of the bridges that pass over the railway would be welcome. Seeing a slope of drawn grass is not pleasant, a few meters from where you pass by the train.
Thanks Jasper we know you guys are working hard and doing your best. That’s all everyone wants to hear. I’m enjoying the route too, even though I have some negative opinions about it. I hope to see some improvement patches soon, and although not confirmed or on the roadmap, the Leven branch expansion which I hope is still happening this summer. Can I ask one question though. What was the reason for not allowing the Class 385 to travel all the way to Linlithgow? As you have the track and station showing on the map.
That's ancient history circa 2021. These days most of what they are working on is NOT in the roadmap; DTG doesn't reveal anything until the eve of release now.
If you're on PC, the dire 385 sounds can be replaced via mod; otherwise, the route isn't bad (aside from the usual issue of dead terminus stations, common across TSW)
Yeh but tbf to Skyhook they took the criticism on board and sorted the route it's looking great now that's all we want for Fife circle
i drove the full circle scenario and only noticed a few bad things mostly at the huge bridge roads that go into the water there and on another station a load of cars parked on grass instead of a parking place a few areas that have repeating house placements lots of the same house's but that can happen in real life too and i have seen route's that where worse then this route i expected way worse then what i have seen so far of this route
It's not that bad as far as I'm concerned, I don't feel like I have wasted my money, ironic that you accuse me of trying to be edgy.
Is there any way to stop the 170 from rolling backwards when moving off from a station that's on an incline?
I think the cars parked on the grass simulate a gravel parking lot there. It would be enough to add a texture different from that of the grass.
Jasper_Rivet, post: 818245, member: 16501"]Hmm, that's weird - will log that anyway.[/QUOTE] Only major thing not on the list is Queensferry Crossing... There's no struts at all, it looks like all that's been done is 3 pillars in the water and a rectangle trying to represent a road - badly at that
You need to use the hill start button when on an incline. As I’m on PS5 I hold the L2 button to do this.

On PC it seems like you can see them if you get close (I can't confirm this). However, in reality you can see the guy ropes clearly, especially because they're white against a blue sky!
All we need is 'Jane' to join Rivet Games as Chief technical officer and I'll be running for the popcorn...
Hmm, on this picture I can actually see a pretty good scenery with boats and some cars at the pier. But why was it possible to place boats there and not ships on the actual sea? If the performance were the problem then these shouldn't be there as well.
It would be enough to put some static models of boats in the fjord and planes parked on the airport apron. It would be also nice to see the Queen Mary 2 in the distance!
oh cool a response from rivet. I've been bashing them for a while but I'm glad the bugs are being taken into consideration. might actually pick up the route if there are some ECS and more timetable updates. Glad to see something is happening.
Note that he didn't really said anything new to make the situation better IMHO. Also take attention to the word "bugs", which is something different than enhancing the route regarding quality issues like missing timetable services and scenery.
yeah I still think there have been and still are some atrocious problems like the wrong build. missing so much of the timetable and the list of scenery goes on. it's also still in a state I wouldn't buy it but I'm glad after some days of silence that according to Jasper they are following along here and making a list of stuff to change. sure it should've been in there at the start. if it were I'd be happily playing the route right now. but at least they didn't abandon ship just yet and are on to the next dlc. however much actually gets patched or added will decide if i get the route or not.
Have now had a bit of a drive on the Dunfermline side of the route. Level crossing north of Dunfermline Queen Margarets is missing, just a road should probably be a lineside fence for the football pitch north of Cowdenbeath RHTT may need to visit the route Have heard it mentioned that power lines don't have the wires on them but for me they certainly do.
I praise your optimism and hope. But I'm not so on it. The words raised so far by Jasper clearly do not state they are actively working on improvements to the scenery. As I said, the words state that they are tracking bugs, not enhancements. For all of the scenery enhancements, the Friday update post is still the most recent update, but which - and this important - also does not state that they are already and currently working on improvements to the scenery. They said that they are "commited to continue working on the route", but not that they are actually working on the route (yet) nor (apart from the Leven branch statement) are planning to do so. That's a huge difference. Also in regard to the Leven Branch, I'm asking myself why they are not start to work at the branch, yet? The real life counterpart does not need to be opened to start building the route. You still can replicate parts of the scenery and buildings as custom 3D assets in Blender or SketchUp before you do that. Is this just a promise which will turn into an excuse in June to get people buying the route now? "We’re committed to continue working on the route after the release. We are also still committed to adding the Leven branch to the route as a free update. We’ll start working on it once the branch has been re-opened in real life (scheduled for June 2024)." The only clear statement we have so far is also the one only from Friday evening's update post regarding the upgrade to the timetable services: "We’ve heard your feedback on timetable variety and have already started work on adding the Cowdenbeath, Scottish Heritage and Railtour services - meaning 30-40 new services will be added in post-launch patches that we’ll get out as quickly as we can."
Yes, I would agree. But why not work on both at the same time, not really prioritizing one over the other? Too less available devs to do it?
Perhaps we need a Train Sim World RMT so we can have an organised strike over bad DLC and not buy it? (And I'm only half joking ..)
It took Skyhook 6 months to fix MML and it was a shorter route with less issues. Rivet are going to have to dedicate months to fixing this. And they have no history of doing that. They do have a history of saying they will though and promising things they had no intention of doing (cough 385 sounds cough 150 fixes). Now we have the Leven Branch which will apparently be free (hmm) and they can’t start working on it until it opens in real life for some reason. Yeah right.
It appears that the Leven branch is already present, complete with active signaling system. Until just before Cameron Bridge. The section from Cameron Bridge to Leven is missing.
There is not a single piece of content released that I have bought where I have not discovered a bug that I haven’t seen mentioned on the forum, and I certainly see many issues that haven’t become huge talking points here. Every DLC I buy, I see issues nobody has talked about. Developers can’t read about that or any other issues individual players find before release, Bugs that are console only aren’t usually seen in any previews. That’s changing with some ambassadors showing preview streams but you can’t tell if a controller issue is present from seeing a video. You need to be playing it. Now you may be wondering why I haven't flooded the forum with all these issues I have found. That comes down to how important I see my reporting of them in relation to other things I have to get on with in life and the likelihood of them being fixed if I do report them, so I usually don’t bother. I’ve been meaning to get some screenshots of the house that changes size depending on how close you are to it. It’s in a couple of routes and I don’t see anyone talking about it on the forum. I’ll get round to reporting it one day. It is impossible to get everybody to not buy a DLC. Absolutely impossible. And a few more people not buying won’t be noticed by Rivet or DTG even if the loud voices here could persuade them not to buy something. Abstaining from buying makes little difference, if any. I don’t know about that. Their communication has always been poor. I don’t go on their forum and I’ve only seen one reply from Jasper that could be taken as rude even though I didn’t think it was. As for them releasing the route when the deadline came and not holding it back, it doesn’t make much difference in the long run if they fix things before or after release. I can’t think of any other behaviours that have been any worse than they usually are.
I ended up buying it just to see for myself. It's not nearly as bad as the preview made it look, IMO. They really did themselves a disservice with that awful stream. The 170 is quite fun to drive and nicely modeled. The route itself is....fine...i guess. It's certainly not top shelf, but not the worst we've seen either. Not having ever travelled on the real thing here's my issues in descending order: 1. Timetable is very weak. They should use a pre-COVID timetable to make it busier if needed IMO. If they're saving timetable slots for the 158 they should just tell us. I think it's dumb to do it that way but at least it would be an explanation. Empty depots and no freight is mind-blowing to me- come on! 2. Missing off-route destinations on the PIS. This is a personal annoyance of mine as it's very immersion breaking. 3. Sloppy scenery. These have been noted by many. The worst offenders for me are the grass textures that seem most prevalent around Glenrothes and northwards. It looks like a poorly rendered manicured lawn. I can't imagine that's what Scotland looks like. I didn't notice the missing airport since i didn't know it was supposed to be there lol but that's also pretty bad. Overall i'd say 6/10, but it's definitely capable of much more. I hope they make the effort to bring it up to its potential.
