Please add some Cold & Dark startup options to the timetable. Currently many trains often are setup and connected to the overline (or how you call the power line above the tracks in english). I would be great and fun if there would be an option for A) many more of these simple train setup timetable scenarios where you collect a lok and drive collect certain waggons and drive them somewhere. I guess many rail fans would realy enjoy this addition.
It would be good, however the main issue is the majority of routes are not end to end. Many services would have originated from a location out of the in game world, arrive into Station A in game, where you drive it to Station B, and it would then continue off world again to its destination. In this situation, having to start up the trains from cold would be completely unrealistic, as they wouldn’t be shut down mid way through a service. The only really viable option this would be good for is services that start in a depot
Right, I know. And I only mean if you start in a depot or maybe trains that stood for some hours at the HBF before it gets transferred by you into depot maybe. But for trains you take over from outside the world would be great if more of them start by you having to wait for the train arriving and you then switch driver and maybe already have systems like the direction lever inserted and activated as it's very unrealistic for a train driver to deactivate all of these things when being released by a new driver.
I can’t speak for other countries, but in the UK when one driver is about to handover to another driver, there is a procedure that must be followed. I’ll explain as best I can, with ‘Driver A’ being the first driver, and ‘Driver B’ being the driver taking over. Driver A arrives into the location where they are being relieved. Driver A must then: Put brakes into the ‘Full Service’ position. Activate the DRA (Driver Reminder Appliance. Set the ‘Reverser’ into the ‘Off’ position. Remove the Master Key. Driver B, who is taking over the service repeats those steps but in reverse. Inserts the Master Key Sets Reverser to Neutral and clears the AWS self test. Checks the signal where possible and deactivates the DRA. Reverser into forwards Drive In short, the way Train Sim World requires you to set up trains upon starting a service is realistic to the extent of what features are available in game.
While this is true, it's still a bit problematic to just let almost only handover services appear in the timetable of any DLC, due to the fact that developer refrain from building routes completely from start to finish (put aside whether or not it is either due to technical limitations or business practice). There should be an option though to let the player decide whether they can start the service by a handover or cold start, even if the latter appears to be unrealistic in comparison to real life.
