But where is this supposed to come from?! Is this secured or just a rumour? I mean, it’s still April 1st today…

Looking on the roadmap from memory there is only one German loco on there. As TSG is mentioned in the tweet this does not seem to fit at all?!

    just wondering…

Wouldn't make sense to tease something after it's on the Roadmap and we know what it is, would it?

Most likely the unannounced Simtrack Studios German loco dlc.

well it’s a DTG tease but even on April fools they wouldn’t want to lie about upcoming stock/routes.

Edit: though they mentioned TSG in the post so maybe a collaboration like the ICE1

Yes, this would make the most sense. But I am right that this would be an unannounced DLC, right? The only DLC on the roadmap would be the Simtrack loco, which has, to my knowledge, nothing to do with TSG…
You are right, but what is on the roadmap?!

I could really imagine it with the BR 120 since it´s the last IC loco that isn´t in the game. But on the other hand...2 locos in one loco DLC is a little bit too much for DTG standards i guess?

Something else, by another developer. Why would it be that surprising that 2 german loco DLCs by 2 developers are developed at the same time?

I seem to remember DTG always saying „if it’s not on the roadmap…“

Don’t get me wrong, I am really looking forward to it, just haven’t bought the message fully, yet:cool:

True, they used to say that, but back then, they were putting stuff onto the roadmap much earlier and with more details than they are today, weren't they?

I can honestly see it being its own loco with a free 101 with it, its how to remedy it missing but also make profit.

Yea it’s probably not on roadmap, likely gets added to Aprils.

edit: I should add when I mentioned TSG, it was contract style work by TSG for dovetail, like the ICE1 or 110 I’m pretty sure they did, not officially a product TSG sell but made by them.

I could see why for the 380 and the pink headset from Matt. But for the IC Cabcar ?

Maybe the 101 could be re-released - upgraded to TOD4, remove the dependency on HRR, and with the cab car added.

It's worth remembering that the last April Fools tease they did was the 700, which was in actuality being developed, so I would be leaning more towards the 'real' than 'fake' side of the fence, although I'm not willing to pick a side to fully come down on just yet!

Well, every time we've got a new cab car in the game previously they've come with a loco - and usually a new loco...

Really not a fan of driving from cab cars. Can this be equipped with an option to pipe in the sound from the loco. please?!

I could see the '120+cab-car DLC' solution for the problem. It's simply the most elegant solution. It will never be a free upgrade of the HRR 101 for reasons that should be obvious. Including it in a new route with a 'free' 101 is possible, but is bound to anger people even more than the blue 363 in DRA back in the day (after its standalone release as a loco DLC for RSN). If it is coming with the 120, I do find it a little strange that the teaser is for the cab car and the 120 is the surprise on top and not the other way around. As highly requested as the cab car may be, I find it hard to imagine that it would generate more excitement than a 120 but maybe I'm out of touch there?

Not unheard of though. There was the first RT Br 182, which came with the DoSto cab car and the MP36 for SFJ, which also came with its cab car. DTG do sometimes go the extra mile if it's unavoidable. The backlash to the 101 might have made them think that the inclusion of the cab car is worth it when the opportunity arises.

All of that depends on this being a genuine teaser though. However, I find it hard to imagine that DTG would make fun of such a controversial topic as the IC cab car, even if their continued promotion of steam content in TSW is a tad tone-deaf.

Same, I'm happy the Br101 DLC did not include it.

In general, DTG have almost always included cab cars with locos that run with them (146, 143, 110, FP-40 (both versions), Baby Bullet, Metroliner etc. I believe the 101 is a singular exception to that rule.

I don't understand the mentality of being happy that a train is incomplete because it's not what you particularly want to drive. There's lots of things I don't like driving, I wouldn't deny others the ability to have them, I just... wouldn't drive them

Oh not begrudging those that like them, just if you're playing these games for a bit of traction sound, aka thrash, then the cab car driving experience is just a bit stale, And because they inevitably get an equal share in Journey mode you have to end up doing them. The worst was that all stations run from Chemnitz to Dresden in a 766, over 90 minutes. It just wasn't fun. At all.

Variety is the spice of life, including train life. Not everyone like the screech of traction motors, some of us prefer a smooth ride. Please allow folks to enjoy their virtual cabs in peace.

Yeah, can relate regarding the dostos, but id argue that the issue there is more the sounds than the fact that its a cab car per se. The dosto cab car was one of the earliest german stock in Game and hasnt had sound changes since, even as a cab car its too quiet and lacks sound variety (running sounds etc.)

The n wagen are a much nicer experience abeit not perfect. So If the sounds are right, you hear rumbling and rumbling, rattling and air hissing, ill happily sit in a cabcar for hours

Yeah, I'm all for respecting opinions, but let's just say that being "happy" they released and sold an incomplete/unrealistic DLC train consist because one personally doesn't like cab cars, is what I'd say is a "hot take" and is bound to rub people the wrong way. And I don't even have the 101 DLC because the route it released with back in the day did't interest me. And I'll leave it at that, because I don't want to be moderated. :D

"Incomplete/unrealistic" is perhaps a bit strong - from what I can find out while cab cars are commonly pared with 101s they do pull trains without them.

Eh, I stand by what I said. Obviously there are always exceptions, and obviously the rest of the train can function without the cab car, but you wouldn't see every single service on every route without a one, would you? They probably should have made the 101 the featuring "star" of a completely new route, maybe that would have incentivised them to include the cab car the first time around. But that's water under the bridge now.

The fact that not all IC trains use cab cars is another reason not to oppose them - it still leaves around 2/3 of services with a loco hauling. Also, TSW is about AI trains too, it improves the experience when trains you pass look real.

Most IC services used a cab car. Most exceptions were EC trains, as they could be run with similar coaches from other countries, of which most didn't have a cab car. Also the IC cab car was not equipped for international lines and could therefore only be used in Germany and Austria. But the intranational services mostly used a cab car, as it speeds up turn-around times at terminous stations and many services also stopped at dead-end stations and needed to reverse mid journey. The only route with InterCity services not suitable for the Cab Car is Mainz-Koblenz, as the Cab Car wasn't in service back then.

Well, actually, the ICs originally don't had a cab car, actually the 'IC-loco' back then, the 103 couldn't communicate with it. It was first developed for the InterRegio-services, that got somehow scrapped, because, well... for what reason? Kind of strange, that so many people ask for the cab car, even if the InterRegio seems to be the most unloved service DB ever created...^^.

They were developed and built in the mid 90s. In 1995 the BR 101 was entered into service and replace the BR 103. A second batch of cab cars was built in the late 90s to early 2000s. As the InterRegio was phased out in the early 2000s, the cab cars were tranfered to IC services and were very common until the slow end of the IC1 services in the late 2010s and 2020s. It's as much an icon of the IC service, as the BR 101 is.

Yes, there are two types of cab car, The Bimdzf (earlier. built for Inter Regio services), and the Bpmdzf (later, built for IC services. They have a slightly different internal layout. It'd be nice to see both, but if one, the latter seems more likely.

DB would have preferred to have a cab car on every service, but there were never that many, so they had to ration them a bit.

A lot of the Rhine IC services (even until recently) didn't have a cab car, because their run (Hamburg to Frankfurt or Stuttgart) was long enough without a reverse. The exceptions were trains that continued on past Frankfurt or Stuttgart, which needed a reverse.

The Mosel IC services didn't, because they only reversed at Koblenz, where they needed to change loco anyway to continue to Luxembourg.

The Amsterdam-Berlin ICs don't, because there is no reverse en-route, and there used to be a loco change at the border. Now they run with NS Vectrons.

The IC Nebelhorn/Konigsee, which runs on Kassel-Wurzburg, doesn't, because it splits.

Seasonal IC trains, e.g. additional trains to the coast tend not to have a cab car, neither do rakes of IC coaches used for replacing unavailable sets.

Sleeper trains tend not to (until the new Nightjets), nor did former services like DB Autozug, UrlaubsExpress, etc.

Historically, before the Koeln-Frankfurt, high speed line, an IC could run from Hamburg to Basel without reversing, so these often remained without cab cars. There were other routes like this, like the IR from Norddeich to Seebrugg.

There'll still be plenty of 101 action, don't worry.

So, I'm not allowed to be happy something greatly improves my experience because it doesn't improve someone else's experience? That's nonsense...
Many are unable to respect someone else's opinion on this forum yet expect other people to respect theirs, while insulting them, hypocrisy at its finest.

The IRs were plenty popular, and that was the problem. DBFV believed they were cutting into pricier IC/ICE ticket sales.

Yes, IR was much loved, and inspires a huge amount of nostalgia. It was a really cool product, well conceived and well branded.

Let me guess with DB BR120 or 245. Speaking of the DB BR120 it did run on KWG SFS Hannover Wurzburg back in 1988

    Its about time !

Reading the post im pretty certain that it'll be a TSG release or a DTG release with TSG heavily involved. So Quality shouldn't be a concern.

Im curious aswell as to how this dlc will release to TSW. Not expecting a new Loco with it (although the Br 120 has to come at one point if you ask me)

I think there's nothing to complain. The cab car would definitely expand the experience and if you don't want to, you don't have to use the thing. ;)
