As I said on another thread the 380 is not necessarily bad, but it is just another modern commuter EMU and so not particularly exciting or standout. For loco DLCs it would surely make much more sense to release a popular, highly wanted or different (as it it is a new experience to existing traction in the game) train to the game.

Understandable. Not everyone is a fan of modern EMU's. It seems DTG is mainly focusing on modern content.

But considering that the Class 380 is very prominent in Scotland, I think that it would've been have been a highly requested EMU.

There's every possibility that being the day that it is, what DTG have actually done is shown two trains to get everyone thinking about those, only to completely subvert the expectations on the roadmap. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I'm personally looking forward to it. It's my local train. I mostly grew up around those trains. So I can't wait to see it in the game! I've been waiting for this to be done for ages and I'm so glad it's by dtg and not rivet! :D

Really hope this is what they're doing... I have nothing against the 380, it's an OK train but I can think of a load of trains I would much rather see in the game (56, 70, 60, DVT/91, even a new variant of 66, 87/86, 90, MPV/any track machine, more 37 variants, I can think of a lot more..) I'm not a big fan of the Cathcart route as it is (which appears to be what it would be added to if it does happen) to be completely honest but it is DTG' game and they can add whatever train they want in the end....

And here's me waiting for my local train, the Class 185 (which also happens to be a desiro, why couldn't it have been the one)

Cathcart getting extended into a full Glasgow suburban transit area would be a dream.
    Paisley Canal, Barrhead etc
This could well tye in with Rivet's 380 post from a while back (Barrhill, I think) as Rivet rarely post anything about the real world without some form of hint or obscure teaser.

No guys, both route and the locomotive DLC will be made by DTG (maybe in collaboration with third parties).

the BR 120 can be sub in mainz-koblenz,rho,Salzburg-Rosenheim,Hrr,koln aachen (AI),HMA,bremen odenburg,RSN (AI) so the BR 120 can be on a lot of route sub in in timetable and AI trains so it's false when you say that there are not a lot of route we can see 120 in timetable and maybe in dresden riesa for rail tour service

Can't really see that paired with the cab car, rarely appeared together... also can't see DTG putting two very attractive things into one DLCs when they can sell them separately for double money...

Yes it seems odd that DTG would now deliver the Cab Car with a Loco, when they didn't do that back with the BR 101. But then the question is, with what are they going to sell it then? Even if they pack some more IC coaches in the pack, a loco DLC without traction power seems strange. And if the sell the BR 120 with the cab car, they only have to make these two vehicles and can reuse the IC coaches from the BR 101 DLC.
An other option is to make a similar move like with extended SEHS. Bundle the loco DLC into the route and release another loco DLC for that route. But I don't think HRR will get an update/extension, there are more popular german routes which could benefit more from such a treatment.

PS: And the Cab Car doesn't need as much work as a locomotive. The running sounds are the same as the IC coaches, except for the front, the rest is very similar if not identical with existing IC coaches. And as traction is provided by a loco, you don't need to implement traction physics.

Straightforward approach: add it to the 101 DLC. 101 owners get it free, new buyers get both. Increased sales of the 101 should pay for the project.

As Jo_Kim says, doing the cab car really is a matter of doing the cab. Running sounds and most of the 3d modeling are already done.

I've just had a quick look: The two existing IC coaches are the Avmmz 106.1 and the Bpmmz 284.4 which are both modernized versions of the older Eurofima and Eurofima successor series, meaning they are both from West Germany. Both versions of the Cab Car, one being the old IR stock, were built from the "Halberstädter Z-Wagen" from East Germany. So whilst the dimensions and rough layout is the same between the cab car and the existing coaches (both being of the UIC-Z Type) things like the boogies, the roof the position of the AC unit and the under car equipment is quite different and needs to be modelled from scratch. So it needs a bit more work then first assumed, but still not really worth it's own DLC.

It seems the Avmmz 106 and Bpmmz 284 are definitely different mechanically. The former, originally Avmz 207, were stock UIC-Z Eurofima wagons. The second-class Z coaches, though, were not considered suitable by DB so instead they upgraded several X types to 200-km spec and IC comfort incl. air conditioning (Bm 234 > Bm 235, now Bpmmz 284). This would explain the different bogies among other things.

The Bpmmz is actually from the successor series of the Eurofima coaches. The converted X coaches were used in the IR services and later transfered to the IC. They can be identified by the lack of power doors, they still have "Drehfalttüren". The same type of door found on the n-Wagen on Bremen-Oldenburg.
Why the Eurofima sucessors' bogies are that different from it's predecessor, whilst other parts are complety identical, is a bit peculiar but is correct.
If you'd like to have a list of all IC coaches and their origin, there is one available on German Wikipedia: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vorlage:Liste_der_Intercity-Wagen_der_Deutschen_Bahn

I really want a new driving experience in TSW.

One thing I love about TSC is that when I built up my collection of things I wanted and started to get bored, I had a lot of stuff I never used before and found out I enjoyed driving. The best example being the Class 86. I enjoyed it so much I got the AP pack to enhance the experience.

I'd really like for DTG to branch out and consider looking into these kind of things.

Following this down the rabbit hole, it seems that by the time the Nachfolgenserie Z-Wagen were procured, the Minden-Deutz 52 bogie was available, and it was chosen over the stock Eurofima bogies made by Fiat.
    ____________
What's interesting is that apparently MD52s are all wrong for the 2d class Austrian Z-wagen, which use the original Fiat bogies. (They also have windows that open, unlike the German version)

I will be slightly miffed if Semmeringbahn comes with reskinned DB coaches instead of proper OBB ones. (DTG Matt, pass that to the devs maybe?)

I think they've modelled the Bmz coaches accurately. 52323913414_1660786407_6k.jpg Semmeringbahn-WIP-01.jpg
There are two different generations of the Bmz coaches (a third version exist, but only in Nightjet livery). Maybe you mixed up the two generations?

That's entirely possible; my German is only about the order-in-a-restaurant level. Looking again, it seems that the first batch had Fiat bogies and a/c (and sealed windows); the second batch do not (all) have a/c, and they apparently have MD52s as seen in the top picture. Nonetheless, if DTG gives them MD bogies then the windows should open.

As noted earlier, based on experience with the TSC version - claustrophobic cab with a tiny window, nearly as bad as the 385, no real perceptible traction sound in said cab (even less than the Electrostars), just not going to be that pleasant to drive compared to something like the 320 or old 303/311 classes of EMU.

True. But might I add the TSC version is LOVE and is very badly done. The sounds are awful as well as everything else about it.

I thought it might be. Of course the TSC version also lacks all the features we would get in TSW, opening cab windows (if it’s got them), open the door from cab into the saloon. In fact the TSC version didn’t even have a “5” passenger view as I tried, to compare the sound in the saloon and it didn’t exist.

Well if it came with a new route then I might be tempted, but I have played Cathcart to death and doing it in a 380 vs. the 314 is not really going to enhance the experience to the tune of another £12.

Yea. I must admit. It would be better suited for it's own route but I love that train so I'm definitely gonna buy it and give it a shot even if it is only for a short cathcart commuter run.

Maybe them hinting at a 380 is just to throw us off, I’m still holding onto the hope it’s a 91 or something else arguably more popular and/or needed in TSW as others have said.

Although if it is a 380 I’m still not sure why of all the trains out there this is the one they chose, I’m assuming the 380 a popular train in Scotland but there doesn’t seem to be much fanfare for it anywhere else, even in the community (correct me if I’m wrong).

I think they could be developing both. There are currently three different German locos, that were teased by DTG. I could imagine that one of those could be a red herring, but if Germany gets at least 2 new locos, the UK should get it too.

Yeah, I'm hoping it was a way of throwing us off with the new UK loco, unless it's gonna be for the new UK route, because (no offence to anyone who really likes the train) I feel it would be pretty underwhelming - another modern EMU! And I've never (until Matt's "desirable" comment) heard anyone on these forums even mention the 380.. but I don't really look at the suggestions hub very often so I could have easily missed it.

I personally think we need a new freight loco more than anything, with yet another modern EMU being at the very, very bottom of the "needed" list. :|

There are other Desiros it could be (444, 450, 350, 185), only we've not seen an image of any of them. That's even if 'desirable' was hinting at 'Desiro'.

Sometimes, images of trains that aren't coming are present on TSW routes, why would the 380 be the exception?

I also question how many actually want it. Most of the suggestions have been either for the Class 91 or another freight loco besides the Class 66. At the moment, they're the two that come up often enough to make them desirable.

I'm not disputing that the 380 isn't suggested, but it surely can't be the most wanted. The suggestions forum is proof of that.

it becomes the exception when it appears among the official teasers, that and it’s maybe not even their usually.

though I agree it’s not the most suggested train, though I also don’t believe the most suggested was the criteria.

Most suggested wasn't the criteria, but as far as I see it, the more it is suggested, the more desired it becomes.

It's probably one of the most useful for Scottish content as it serves ALOT of routes in Scotland, especially in and out of Glasgow Central.

hopefully start to see the ScotRail collection build up more, and not so much big empty stations, they probably should have done lines away from such stations to start with to not let that happen whilst the train collection increases :)

I obviously hadn't met you in your 380 profile pic days, not until now anyway! In my defence, I don't check the suggestions so don't really know what's been suggested and what hasn't....

I dont really see the point in the 380 surely the 91/DVT would sell way better? Or maybe a 222?
Carthcart is a dead route why not invest in populating current routes that people still play regularly

That's how I see it too, I'm not very keen on the CCL in the game personally so of course I'd be quite disappointed if out of every UK route in the game, the one I don't like that much gets a new train for it but hey ho!
I would definitely agree with you in thinking a 91/DVT (or new freight loco) would sell better but I guess only time will tell, it might have only been a bit of fooling in the end!

Hopefully the upcoming roadmap will give us some more info.

Assuming it is a Class 380 and I can’t see how teasing a Class 380 can be anything else, there will be valid reasons why they chose this and not something else at this present time. It fits with the routes in Scotland, it is modern, it has been requested, all things that make it suitable to come now. People have repeatedly complained that routes don’t have enough variety, so here is a train to add variety to, one would assume, Cathcart Circle, and potentially other routes out now and set to come in the future. I’d expect the arrival of some future loco DLC to add flavour to other older TSW routes over the next few years.

It may not be everybody’s cup of tea but it fits within TSW very nicely. Plenty of other trains would also fit but then those would also be met with why this and not that. And this won’t be the last train to come. It will get the usual complaints I am sure, I mean it already has but there will be more to come. All releases for TSW come with an army of complaints. Modern trains come with complaints that they aren’t old trains, old trains get complaints that they aren’t modern trains. You’ll never please everyone, but maybe will please those who really like trains and aren’t too picky about what is and isn’t considered a good train for a simulator. I’m not sure I’ve come across one in TSW yet, all the trains are good trains, the only issue being when trains are done so badly that they are painful to drive, and there are only a handful of those in the game. There are also a vast number of trains I still want to see in the game and an equally vast number of trains I have never heard of that could introduce me to a whole new experience. I sometimes wonder if I am the only person playing TSW that actually likes train simulators, lots of members here just like to complain about them, as well as pointing out that the grass is greener in all train simulators other than TSW. I’m sure they do the same on the forums for those sims. Anyway, why a Class 380? Why the devil not? is a better question.

A bit of advice. You will be very disappointed if you hold on to any more hope that the teasers for the Class 380 will turn out to actually be the release of a Class 91. Get your disappointment out of the way now instead of clinging on to it until the release article for the Class 380 comes out and the penny finally drops.

I’m sure a Class 91 will come soon.

I think it’s obvious its not a 91 set and I think the 91 is a very long way away if DTG were to make it. We know DTG are lazy when it comes to giving us train variants so I doubt they would model a 91,DVT and MK4s

Has a date for that been officially confirmed yet? I would assume it to be next week, but you never know!

I've heard it's the 9th. Rivet mentioned the date in their update post.

Who knows, maybe the new DTG route is the PDL or London to Basingstoke with the 450 and maybe the new train could be a 444!? XD

Jokes aside I'm not too keen on the 380, but what Matt has said adds up to it with the Desirable comment and the "Full" ScotRail fleet. Hopefully they are creating another loco DLC in tandem with the one already announced and give us a surprise, like the 91. Paves the way for a 67 to come along and provide a Welsh route with the 67+MK4s!!

I could've sworn you had the Rivet 170 a couple days ago!! XD

Tbh I think the 91 would be better served coming with its own route anyway & then layering into the current ECML. Something like Doncaster to Harrogate with the Leeds to York
    Branch included would be good.
