I mean didn't some of these parties announced that they would join long before TSW 4 came out? It's just that DTG choose to release what is essentially the same game with updates to existing features that were already in game. Third parties would've joined regardless.

Also there has certainly been inconsistent quality in certain routes. I look back to routes like Ny-Trenton or the Maintalbahn. Rivet Games have also not released good quality add-ons. Also DTG are offering alot less content than in the days of TSW 2 and 3 so there can be an argument that TSW 4 hasn't taken that much of a step forward in some areas. Not to mention, new iterations of what is the same game we have had since tsw2 have brought more problems that previously didn't exist

There is a plethora of problems that came in thanks to the new iterations that weren't there before. The lights and colors definitely took a significant hit since the original TSW, the washed-out look in many weather conditions is really bad. TSW3, with its dynamic weather and the fog snapping to clear, none of which was ever even acknowledged. Many DLCs end up broken by new versions of the game. Remember the stutters? How they pretty much said "launch every route twice, then it works" and left it?

I don't understand why you are so vociferous in your criticism on modern stock. I am very much looking forward to the German cab car. The 380, I am less enthused about, but I can see myself picking it up in a sale at some point down the line. There is clearly a large market for consumers of modern era train and routes which is why Dovetail and other train sims release wave after wave of content in this time period. If you desire old antiques, then feel free to explore other products that specialize in this with Diesel Railcar Simulator, Railroads Online, Railroader, etc. Dovetail can't even do a half decent job with the physics and sounds of content they have to ability to record and ride on, what makes you think classic era content won't end up having early Rivet levels of Simugraph? The steam content is just terrible. I'd prefer leaving pre modern era content to the 3rd party experts such as JustTrains and company.

100% agree with this. As much as I have now bought TSW4 its the older routes that keep getting my attention. As you say NTP, TVL, GWE, (Especially with the new SHG packs adding new content to GWE), BML.

I don't mind the occasional shoot down SEHS or ECML but I just get a little bored of them tbh. I feel like with the old routes we got way more bang for our buck as well.

I would say most of the classic BR stuff in TSW actually has very good physics, though you won't find me disagreeing about the state of steam traction and how DTG have left it. :)

At the end of the day we all have our preferences but to say if I want to sample older stuff go elsewhere is disingenuous at best. Why should they not also be included in the simulation environment that TSW provides? I can actually see there is a fair bit of love for the ICE cab car and who knows, if it's not like driving in a cotton wool cocoon I might actually buy it at some time. But the 380 is just another overpowered one handle modern EMU, similar to what we already have with the Electrostars, the 385 and 700 etc. Just not really fun to drive.

The dynamic weather is atrocious and I have to turn it off. I was having a good run on the London commuter dlc on a hot sunny day and 50 minutes in it turns super foggy and wet with visibility down to a few yards. And it happened in 60 seconds!

Why can’t the weather threaten and have a slower cycle?

And change back to sunny. Why is it, once it descends into the sort of violent thunderstorm which would get headline coverage on the news channels, it never turns back? Surely dynamic should work both ways.

    Obviously you like to argue.

I disagree with your view. Which is fine - I find the forums to be much less beneficial than when I joined back in 2022. That is my personal observation, and a few others have mentioned the same. If you think they aren't less useful, then fine -- I am not here to debate you about my observations nor am I trying to convince you that you should have my view since it is my personal opinion. But since you keep comment about how my observations are wrong, apparently you think I shouldn't be allowed to have an opinion. And that tells me all I need to know.

    Enjoy the forums

Who said that you can't have an opinion? Of course you can. I just don't agree with your view and I explained why in a fair manner. You don't have to agree and that is fine. Just because someone has a different opinion doesn't mean they want to shut you down. That's a strange way to think and frankly says alot about you. Learn how to handle a difference of an opinion

Strange way to think? -- I explained myself to you several times stating it was my personal opinion, my point of view and even stated yours was fine as well -- but you keep telling me ( oh.. excuse me -- explaining) why my opinion is wrong. If you think the forums are as helpful as they were back in 2016, - GREAT, I am happy for you. I don't hold the same view.

So to be brutal -- I do not need your explanations why my opinion is wrong. Not to get personal, but the title of this thread is very accurate to need for any further discussion between us on this matter. I hope you get the reference.

Again, I do not think that you shouldn't have an opinion. You are perfectly entitled to disagree. Just because I say something you don't like or agree doesn't mean I want to shut you down which is what you accused me of. That frankly is a childish way to think.

I have had agreements and disagreements with people here quite often. Just because someone disagrees with my personal views doesn't mean I think that they are trying to slicence my views.

It's a public forum where people will agree or disagree with certain posts. Happens all the time. You stated a particular view and I explained why I don’t agree. If you can't handle a difference of an opinion, then I don't know what to say

It is hopeless with you - I have stated my observations which I stated were my own personal views. I read your "explanations" and still do not agree. - You gave it a good try - now let it lay. I have tried to be very polite - we just have to agree to disagree.

I guess you can’t take a hint. In my nearly 70 years, I haven’t had a conversation as obtuse as this. I am starting to believe just want to argue for arguments sake and therefore I will bow out and let you have your fun.

Lovely! Day one purchase, please charge me double ...

    But NOTE to yourself:
Big ass, green German E-Loks from the 1930s do not sell well in TSW...

I think TSW4 will last as long as TSW2, this time. A bit more than the last chapter. This at least according to the intense release program that we see for the next few months.

So TSW Humble Bundle hit very early this year. TSW4 without some of the older DLCs that are also there is just for 4.61 EUR. I'm still not decided to get it, but there are 3 weeks to decide...

Sadly it's nowhere near as good as last years which plugged a few gaps in my collection where I was reluctant to even pay a sale price.

¨Is that Fred Flintstone over there??¨

DTG while trying to sell us the Semmeringbahn and wanting us to look at the mountains in order to miss the lack of Railjet trains or even the full set of coaches: Amz, WRmz, BDmsz and Bmz

They have totally listened to the feedback provided when they released the DB BR 101 without the cab car.

It´s fine, I´ll distract the attention of my credit card towards the first DLC for Simrail.

    I am perfectly calm.

I don't have a problem with "moaners" I moan myself. I have a problem with being told I am stupid or selfish for spending my money how I wish.

I realise you are being ironic, it isn't particularly clever though, just a bit childish!

They listened, nobody will be complaining about cab cars and restaurant cars, they'll be complaining about 1st class cars :D Now they're about to sell the cab car as a DLC when they previously left it out from BR 101. Next you'll get ÖBB 1st class DLC :D

Monder you saved me from watching the roadmap stream then. I know now what the explanation will be. :D

When the high speed market opened up to other operators here in Spain, Renfe modified some of its 112 Talgo series to accommodate more passengers and make the new low cost trains profitable. They removed the 1st class and the bar. In the modified bar coach you can´t even see outside because the windows are higher up.

DTG seems to be getting its inspiration from questionable decisions like this one.
