Would be an excellent route, could feature Rugeley - Birmingham International services (driving as far as Birmingham New Street) and the Walsall - Wolverhampton services (driving between Walsall and Birmingham New Street). The West Midlands is definitely an area in need of more TSW attention and having the Soho Depot for the 323s would also be a nice tie in for the Cross City line.
It is, but as was discussed at the time, there would be a lot of custom buildings required to create the NIA approach towards New Street, which would have been a lot of work just for the depot. With a whole new line heading out that way though, it absolutely wouldn't hurt them to drop a load of depot runs in to the BCC timetable, even if they're just departing from any of the otherwise empty New Street platforms.
I think the 323s are only left on Cross City now. Pretty sure the Wolverhampton line has the new 730s which will eventually replace them all.
If this was set back about a decade you could have 170s running the route from Rugeley trent Valley and coal trains ran by 66s from Rugeley power station
I wonder if any of our suggestions are given any attention by DTG. I have just posted a suggestion for Stratford upon Avon to Kidderminster on the WMR network. Having searched for this route for info I found that the suggestion was made in April 2023 by TrainGeek08. I could not see any response from DTG team.
I did also suggest this line too, DTG do say they look at suggestions but don't always reply to them leading us to think our suggestions are completely pointless (which they aren't).
We'll just have to keep trying then. I am sure they get lots of request for what are players favorite, or local routes.
I'm sure when they (DTG) are deciding to make routes, they use routes in TSW already that are similar in character (for this route, think BCC or Glossop per say) to see if we as the community enjoy those style of routes or not .
I would assume that they do, a few core/features suggestions are added by DTG, i’m not too sure about routes themselves. Would be nice if they decided to pick a route suggested by the community that everyone likes.
